Question about "90 degree" hand grips

I noticed immediately, when the Panthera was introduced, that the handgrip at the trigger was a perpendicular or 90 degree grip as opposed to MOST gun's 45 degree grips. That position for me is just not comfortable. I'm curious if I'm the only one or if that position feels as unnatural or stress inducing to most other people. When making a fist & holding my arm straight the NATURAL position of my finger alignment & palm is a 45 degreeish angle. Also, being a drummer for 60 years, that has always been my most natural & comfortable positioning. No two people are anatomically the same, I get that, but is there some benefit of stability or something else that a 90 degree grip provides? If I WERE interested in a Panthera (I'm not) that grip would be a deal breaker for me. Just putting it out there for discussion & enlightenment. Any thoughts?

RAW Purchase

Hello everyone,
I have been reading a lot of posts here and I have seen the if purchasing a RAW. Buy it directly from Martin. So I have put the call in and I am ready to “ pull the trigger “ on it. I have a few questions I would like to ask the shooting public.
First, do you all have any photos of you RAW? I am looking for the LRT 1000x style. In tan or the dark coffee / black stock, .25 caliber
Second, I want to use an aftermarket moderator, so I can try different ones and make it as quiet as possible. I would love some suggestions on which you all like.
Third, what bipod are you using?, I have had great luck with Harris bipods on my powder burners, but I haven’t seen them with the ability to fit the RAW rail system.
As I said in my phone message to Martin, I want the best, because as I told my wife this is my last airgun 😉 .
Thank you all in advance. Hope you all have an outstanding day
Aim small, miss small
Sincerely
Tackleberry

1st PCP - See my list

Quick background - have two nice springers and want to try some PCP.
NOTE: I fully plan to purchase a higher end PCP (+$1200) in the future, but I want to learn right now. And have the means to do so.

This is what I put together:

- Air Venturi Avenger - I plan to shoot it a bit then follow the AEAC video on tuning it. And get advice from here of course.
- Hill MKII pump - I do plan on getting a tank and have local sources to fill. I shoot low shots per month and a pump will be fine to start
- 0 DB Moderator
- Donny FL Adaptor
- I have a Hawke Vantage SF 4-16 x 441/2 Mil Ret

I'm certain there will be opinions and options...and I appreciate your input.

Shortest springer air rifle

My good springer air rifles are decades old and long and heavy; including a 39" C1. Now I'm Looking for the shortest decent springer air rifle I can find. Doesn't look like there are many or any at all. Chinese are probably all there are, and they'll need a tune I expect. Looked at a qb57 of course, weird and out of stock. And I aready had an old qb6[?] clunker so I'm not really hot for a folder. But side levers look to be shorter. Not a magnum either please, but not a kids gun either. Been looking for a bit. Just saying. Any help appreciated. Tks. [yes I'm looking at the XS12 with FD tune definitely]

My second air gun ever has arrived. The .30 AEA semi-auto Terminator (aka Barbara Ann) with front tank upgrade. My God.

No scope yet, so I put on my micro green dot and took this beast into the jungle out back for some close range blasting. She's got some junk in the trunk, for sure. I felt like Rambo humpin' the M-60. She might be considered too heavy by lesser men. All of that was forgotten, however, in the rain of semi-auto hellfire that ensued. A 3-D boar target went down first with a triple-tap, then I swung her around for the deer several yards further out to my left. One went high, but then three to center mass... then two more cuz I was pissed about missing. Then I took a bead on my favorite target: the small aluminum frying pan nailed to a tree about 45 yards away. I took my time with the aim and let the last two fly. PING!! PING!! Maximum Fun achieved. Getting about 40 shots in the green zone with that big tank. A fair trade for the weight, in my opinion.

This thing is a cannon and sent those 44.75 Diablos downrange at frightening speed. Vegetation was ripping and shredding, earth getting kicked up... a noticeable difference in the energies involved compared to my .25 AEA SS+ (aka Mary Sue).

image_67233537.JPG
I quit messing around with the air supply situation and got this. It has exceeded expectations. Quiet, reliable, and fast. Less than five minutes to recharge Mary Sue, and about seven to recharge Barbara Ann.

This will be here next week. UTG AccuShot 3-12x44 SWAT Compact. Then I'll try some 75 and maybe 100 yard targets if I can find the room for a clear shot out here. It really is like jungle growth.

"You got me rockin' and a rollin', rockin' and a reelin' Barbara Ann..." Yeah, those seven six two Diablos at a thousand feet per second will send something reelin', alright.

SOLD Element Titan 5-25x56 APR-2D (w/ Eagle Vision Infinity Scope Rings)

Both of these items came with my Impact when I purchased from Utah Airguns about a month ago. I didn't like the ARP-2D reticle on the scope and I didn't care for the infinity scope rings either. I've since replaced both so this setup is for sale. Asking $650 shipped for the scope and rings. PayPal F&F is preferable.

Reasonable expectations?

I wanted to ask an opinion. I made a online order about week ago. I had never received any tracking information in my email. So I call up today and ask if I may have missed the tracking email. I was told they do send an email when the order was shipped but maybe the scope was not in stock when ordered. I reply that it showed available when I made the order. Anyway I was informed that it was not in stock when the order was placed. However my card was charged when the order was placed. They said I would get an email when the order ships. I was a little put off by this order experience. I then wondered have I become so accustom to the amazon type quick process that I am thinking unreasonably? I am glad I am not waiting to shoot a new gun thou.

Slugs is a Dirty Job

I finally have gotten my gun to shoot slugs substantially better recently so I've been shooting them a lot. I cleaned the barrel before testing some new slugs so i could get accurate results. I was surprised by the amount of crud I cleaned out of the barrel. After not quite a couple hundred rounds I found the accuracy had fallen off some. The new slugs at first were all touching at 50 yards and now the groups were opening up slightly. Not bad but I could definitely tell they weren't shooting as good.

Just to try it I cleaned the barrel even though I had just cleaned it 200 shots ago. HOLY S***! I hadn't seen that amount of black gunk come out of the barrel ever. Also there were a few small pieces of lead that came out as well but it was mostly just horrendous black gunk. It cleaned up easy though. 2 Ballistol soaked patches and a couple dry ones cleaned it up real quick. Some say they don't need to clean the barrel but in my case it makes a difference. Maybe once I get more shots through the 700mm heavy liner it'll wear enough it wont need to be cleaned. But its something to stay on top of right now.

Now I'm experimenting with cleaning and lubing slugs to see if it effects accuracy as well as keeping the barrel cleaner for longer. Unlike some I like the barrel cleaning process but not enough to keep cleaning after only 200 rounds.

I missed a world record size gray squirrel at 30 yards with my Impact Question advice for poi shift

OK so I been shooting my impact mk2 and decided to try out the 700mm barrel from my spare ,22 FX Maverick barrel I had in my draw so as most know I did have to remove the outer shroud and I put a donny on it and sighted her in , well I had it set up where I could hit spinners 1 inch # 109 yards and had it sighted in at 50 yards , well , I walked down stairs and forgot my magazines in house so I put gun against shed when I came out it was on ground no big deal ,

SO walking out back of pond I see a Gray squirrel on steroids I mean huge he was only 30 yards away , I was carrying my impact and what I went in back I put it on my tripod so I stopped and aimed remember on tripod and shot he Laughed at me and ran off , I was like WTF .

I then went back to my medal spinner targets and see what happened , I shot at my 1 inch spinner and missed I shot at biggest medal target and it hit it 3 inches hi and 1 inch to right , I was like GRRRR ,
OK now for my question will barrel stiffener prevent this ? I previously usually run a 500mm with carbon fiber glued to liner and have not say this much poi shift ever if bumped >>>>?? and I know I have no outer shroud and this is needed for tension er I can get one but would of it still happened > this is why I like running shorter Fx barrels the shorter the less prone to poi shifts .

Look what ups just dropped off *cue the brand haters*

Gunna see if the optics I got will fit with the rings I have.... Then top her up and see what she slings a 34g .22 at.

Edit* Few things seem a bit lose 😳. Going to go over it and make sure everything is good and snug before we send any lead out the business end

Cue the FX haters!

  • Question
Has anyone found that their gun shoots different slug diameters equally accurately with the same settings?

I'm trying to decide between the .217 or .218 Jav Gen 1 30gr for my Impact M3. Would appreciate any input.

I describe my experience below, but I’m just generally curious if anyone else has not found a significant difference in velocity or accuracy when switching between slug diameters, regardless of your brand of gun or slug, accessories, gun features, etc.

Is this common or rare?

I’m shooting an FX Impact M3 .22, 700mm, with heavy slug liner and carbon fiber liner sleeve and barrel tuner. Shooting Javelin Gen 1, 30gr .217 and .218 slugs at 990fps.
1st Reg: 200
2nd Reg: 150
Valve: fully open
Macro Wheel: 16
Micro Wheel: 2

I’m shooting 1” groups at 100y with both the .217 and .218 Javelin Gen 1, 30gr slugs. I often come across people reporting a dramatic difference in accuracy and velocity when changing slug diameters, but maybe thats because these people are more likely to post their “dramatic” experience.

Post your...uncoolest gun

With all of the, picture of this, or picture of that gun...threads
How about your "uncoolest" gun ? Pistol or rifle that you want to keep, but isn't on the "bragging", FX, RTI, BRK, Daystate...list. The gun that you keep hidden away, but actually LIKE...to shoot !

Here's my 9lb., BSA Defiant, in .22 cal. Trigger is smooth, let-off is fairly crisp, accuracy is good, not too loud, a touch long for my taste (but !), very nice stock wood, comfortable at the shoulder. The weight actually helps stabilize the gun for offhand shooting. AND, cat chew marks on the rubber butt pad!
