My new Daystate Alpha Wolf Safari arrived today. After initial setup, sighting in, I wanted to compare the results from the built in chronograph vs. my LabRadar.
Very different results in muzzle velocity, but the math works out that the extreme spread and standard deviations are within 1 fps of each other so the rifle is consistent.
What is puzzling is the average difference of 12.45 fps between the two measurements. So which one do I trust? Any ideas on what is causing the difference. I have my Lab radar just in front of the muzzle. Very close.
Here are the results from one mag of .22 JSB 25.39gr Redesigns. Note. This is out of the box. I have not adjusted anything on the rifle.

So I was shooting a 22 cal at about 15 FPE with dome pellets getting pass-through and a loud noise against the fence behind. My buddy has that rifle so I decided to try some 25 cal FX hybrids. It's shooting them at 54 FPE, but man it delivers that.

18 yard shot on this squirrel. It stayed in its noggin. It was still low light in the morning under a tree, so the 25% light going to the Firefly caused a low picture quality.

still full of air for some months.

it has way too much power imo to be a .177,
heaviest pellets i have are jsb heavies,
and they were still up in the very high 900s

it has taken many hosps and starlings though

OK,OK, I'm only talking about my LCS and Hatsan Blitz .30 cal. Both fully charged both with 17 rounds, used my cell phone stopwatch. Practiced a few times then went full auto.

The Blitz went through 17 rounds in 1.94 seconds. The LCS took 4.34 seconds for 17 rounds. Even with human error the Hatsan is clearly the winner by 2x.

What does this matter? Not a thing.

I just purchased my first airgun rated rifle scope, it's an Hammers 4-12x40 AO and yes...it's made in China but it's all I could afford so it's mounted on my HW50S and I will attempt to sight it in tomorrow if I get away from work in time. I'll let you know how that all goes and if it last I'll keep you guys in the loop on that also. I paid a few pennies under $100.00 dollars for it shipped two day air, there's a lot of reviews on these scopes...many good...some bad just like everything else reviewed on the internet. It seems well built and is of quality material...but time and use will determine just how well. Oh and it came with a one piece four bolt scope mount with a stop pin which worked well with the rifle.

I have just purchased a hw100 laminbated Before adding the scope decided to fire 14 rounds The gun comes in the box with cylinder seperated - so screwed it on and charged it with air, Almost emptied the magazine and realised air cylinder was not screwed on far ebough - pellets were loading but not being fired Now I feel stupid and have 13 pellets jamming the barrel Can i rod the barrel to clear Any comments would be appreciated PS now the cylinder is screwed in further I get a hiss of air on firing

Had my Impact M3 shooting Nielsen 24.8 OK and Zan 25.5 really well at 110 bar 2nd reg. Changed reg to 120 bar, adjusted hammer for same FPS and Zan’s were terrible and Nielsen’s better. Slugs that were good at 995 FPS now wanted 950 FPS with the higher reg.

So the upshot of all this is it seems that it’s not just one velocity per projectile for your rifle. It’s one velocity per projectile per reg setting, and any particular projectile might not perform at your current reg setting no matter the FPS.

Have others experienced this or have thoughts on it? If the above is true then this all got a lot more complex.

Only three mags shot through it and over 1,000 in to it will take 800 for everytjhing shipped or 750.00 shipped for everything but scope.. II have been want to ask these questions for a while so today I will ask.
Some time ago I saw where some fellow had made some 3d printed pellet containers wit a screw on top. I thought he was selling them but I can;t find any info on them.
Some pellets come in tins with slip off lids and picking 500 pellets out of leaves and dead grass is not a way to spend range time.

Benjamen 392 has come into my plans for the future. I would like a used wood stock model. What should I pay for one if I find it.
I just found a Sheridan and find that I really enjoy shooting it. The benjimen would be close to it and the ammo is easy to get.

Is there a formula for how much speed a pellet loses over a given distance?
Say ot leaves the barrel at x(800fps) at 10 yards its going Y....20 yards...? Is that a thing?...

It was completely gone through by Kelly the Huben k1 tech. Replaced everything and rebuilt the reg. Added the pic Rail for pic attachments,put after market loading gate on it. It's been setup up for slugs. Comes with 200 28 Grain zan hallowpoints. Had a slight issue with trigger with a 3rd of a turn of two allens it was perfectly fine and shooting tight groups. Very accurate and very quite. Paid 1,575 for it will take 1,500 O.B.O

Newbie questions so I can anticipate some performance requirements to prepare for a match. I know different shooting disciplines will have different metrics for determining accuracy.

What are the typical “hit” size for the targets I can expect to find on a typical match. Are all targets have same sized “hit” area and the challenge is the distance from the shooter?

I finally got my HW35 (7.5 joules) scoped and been shooting it in my backyard. I noticed it can shoots almost one hole groups at 10m and opens to around ½ inch at 15 yards. But when I shoot at 20 yards, the group opens to 1.5 to sometimes 2 inches with flyers. Is this accurate enough for FT? I am using vintage target diabo type pellets. I have a new sample pack, but haven’t try them yet. Going to use up my 35-40 year old stash first.

Helllo my airgun friends, I'm using a Element Helix 6x24x50, a Sfp and I realy don't like the unforgiving eyebox. So I want something else. Price range about $850. I'm shooting mostly between 50 and 100 yards benchrest and very occasionally hft. Can you give me some advice? Clear glass a good eyebox and a 30mm tube is a must.
Should I stay at SFP or go for FFP

I bought a dinged new rifle - it’s beautiful and the little ding reminds me to shoot more and I saved over $300.
As most people find, the reg pressure was set pretty high, so air consumption was also high. I let a talented forum member tune it for my specific field target needs.
His tune is magic, the regulator pressure and hammer needed help, TP polishing and some other valve / spring work. I have a sweet trigger with a long first stage but very crisp second stage, the polished barrel is laser beam so far. I mounted a new hawke sidewinder on it and added a Carm flip out single shot loader. It’s a pleasure to shoot offhand. Very QUIET!
Does a Daystate Revere need a professional tuner? NO! But as we all know there is a difference between factory standards/off the shelf and the subtle or even major improvements that can be gained by a skilled gunsmith/tuner. I suspect i will never miss a shot because of the gun... it's pretty much always on me "or the wind".

I put together a compilation of 13 minutes of clips usually edited down to less than 20 seconds each encounter. A couple get away but figured it was worth sharing some clips I have been building up in my collection.
