New Vogel Pellet

I received some Vogel pellets today to test in my FT rifles: https://vogelusa.com/vogel-domed-sport-177-4-5-cal-9-3grain-605gram-airgun-pellet/

Vogel makes 10M pellets in Colorado Springs. They fly under the radar for most people so I figured I would post something here. They have this new domed pellet out and figured I would buy a couple tins to test. He sent my order and threw in a third for free. These were the best packaged pellets I have ever received. Layer upon layer of shrink wrap and bubble wrap in a padded box. The pellets looks great in tins that are padded on bottom, sides, and top with a screw on lid. Once it cools off here in TX and the wind slows down I will try them out.

I have ordered Vogel pellets one previous time a few years ago. I was going to be in CO Springs at the Winter Airgun Championship with my daughter. I emailed the guy and asked if I could order and pay for from TX (save on tax) and pick up in person (Save on shipping). He did one better and dropped them off at the Olympic Training Center for me to pick up. He also left an extra sleeve of his premium pellets with a note for me to try out. I am not saying you get free pellets when you order from the guy but I have ordered twice and received 11 tins of free pellets.

I met the owner of Vogel last October. My daughter was invited for an official visit to the Air Force Academy to shoot on their rifle team and they flew us up there. Of course part of the official visit was a tour of their rifle range and the campus. This guy and a lady tagged along on the tour. It was obvious the guy knew the USAFA rifle coaches. I talked to him quite a bit walking around on the tour. He was a great guy. I had no idea he owned Vogel until he had left. I mentioned the coach that I enjoyed talking to the guy and the coach mentioned the guy owned Vogel pellets. Small world. I wish I would have figured it out when I was walking around with him as I would have thanked him for the free sleeve of pellets.

Bushnell warranty Rant

Recieved a replacement unit for my Bushnell Nitro 2.5-10x44 FFP Deploy that had warranty covered power adjustment issues. “There was not a mark anywhere on the scope it was a safe queen, no over tightened ring marks etc”

They responded saying, good news it’s covered a replacement unit it being shipped.

Replacement shows today
SFP $239 Engage

My nitro ffp was North of $800 when i purchased

I sent This email to their customer service department

I’m confused as to why it was replaced with a scope not near the same level of quality, Your policy states equal or greater value.

My nitro scope was discontinued, but when purchased it was north of $800 dollars and is still being sold over $700 see pics below.

The Engage they sent is second focal plane and is nowhere near the quality of the higher end ffp nitro I had before. This entry level scope is of no use to me.

I have athalon and Vortex scopes and Know the warranty is Rock solid. Bushnell getting a big 👎🏼 on this one. Will see if they make right

Urgent letter to all air gun shooters in the USA. PLEASE READ.

Dear fellow airgunners,
I am writing to you tonight as nothing more than a very concerned airgun shooter.

It has come to attention that a VERY well funded, connected and influential group is actively and openly lobbying against airguns.

As the subject matter is indeed political in nature, I will not post the content or names here out of professional courtesy and respect for AGN and its members.

I urge all airgun shooters to please read my letter and response posted here:
https://texasfieldtarget.com/index.php/2023/08/29/urgent-letter-to-all-air-gun-shooters-in-america/

If you wish to discuss the letter or its contents, please contact me at:

MOD EDIT - This thread has been approved by the Administrator. Let us not discuss the undeniable consequences of millions of people viewing Youtube videos depicting airguns destroying a ballistic dummy, or the power of Big Bore airguns specifically designed to legally hunt game animals, or criminals using airguns illegally, but let us focus our efforts on supporting organizations like The Air Gun Shooters Association of America.

PCP Rifle  SOLD Edgun Leshiy Classic - .22 and .25 $1100 Shipped

Hi There,
I'm selling my Leshiy Classic with a .22 (250mm) and a .25 (350mm) barrel for $1100 shipped. Baffles and extension are included. It will come with the original wood grip and the synthetic grip shown in the picture. The UTG bug buster 3-12x32 scope (and rings) can be had for an additional $120. Bipod not included. The gun is in good condition, some light scratches, and a blemish on the left side of the gun (as shown in pictures). The gun originally came with the digital gauge, but its started leaking so I replaced it with a (much better) analog WIKA gauge. I really disliked the digital one. I installed the trigger return spring with the trigger stop and ball detent. The trigger feels really nice with these modifications. Can easily be undone if desired, but highly recommend keeping it. I can explain in detail for those unaware or the original Leshiy trigger. The gun shoots great and is surprisingly accurate for its size. Also one of the most consistent shoot gun I've ever owned. No leaks, hold air forever. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks for looking!

FX  Panthera / Dynamic AR folding stock hinge is (not) junk? (SOLVED)

Is there any adjustment? The thing wiggles so bad and didn't come with any manual on how to adjust it (if it is adjustable). There's almost 1/8" of play when the stock is locked open in shooting position. I could put some rubber to lock it against the stop but then the stock isn't straight with the gun.

FX  Superlight barrel replacement

I have a Crown MkII,177, with a 600mm superlight barrel
I jammed multiple pellets (3 or 4) in the barrel and cannot extract them

Is it possible to replace the barrel only, without replacing the other parts as shown in the attached picture?
Specific knowledge from anyone who knows how, or has done it, would be appreciated
Thanks
Edward

Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.

I shoulda played the lottery today . . .

I shoulda played the lottery today . . .

. . . or that starling shouldn't have perched up there.

( I'm off today - burning a vaca day from work - just 'cause - {sigh} crappy weather outside now BUT still . . . better than being at work )

So . . . prior to the weather going south on us, I was out at a relatively new permission that I've gotten at another local dairy kinda near Marathon off of 221. I'd already popped a number of pigeons and starlings and it had gone quiet. I'm hanging out / leaning on some round hay bales using them as a "hide" and also as a rest for the rifle to get steady off of. Waiting, waiting, waiting . . . . watching, looking around . . . nothing. There's a bunch of maggots ( starlings ) out on a telephone pole and pretty far away. I'm bored - I range 'em - 135 yards. Aiy.

I've only got this particular gun ranged to 115 on the elevation turret. "Hmmmmmm . . . . ok - dial it up to 115 and then just . . . . guess on hold over. I'll give it . . . 2. Two mil. Most likely just going to smack wood on the pole and scare 'em all away but . . {shrug shoulders - whatever}. "

Pew!

( ↑↑ This is a little .177 mind you. ( lol - yeah ) Granted shooting 13.43 grain slugs and they're going pretty fast @970 fps. But still - it's a .177 )

"HOLY CRAP - I GOT HIM!!"
👉
🤣
😎
👉

My photoshop hack job below of mister maggot sitting at 2 mil on the holdover below. 135 yds. ( cowboy blowing smoke off the end of the barrel . . . lol!! )

↑↑ Above is more or less the same thing I just posted to my facebook feed sans gun info for those of us in here who might be curious. Most of my fb people still think of our airguns as bb guns / toys so I don't bother with specifics there. RTI prophet performance with a .177 priest barrel in it. JSB 13.43g ko's @970 fps - reg a tad over 150.

N/A  Williams Peep Sight Modification & other Peep Sight options

This topic has been talked about in different posts but I thought it needed it’s own post and should be discussed at further length. I like these little Williams diopter/peep sights. Never cared for the looks of the the earlier models when Williams made them in a gloss finish. Didn’t compliment the rifle. Now they are made in a nice matte black finish and look nice on the gun. On Springers they work great. Fit mostly all different configurations of rails. They keep the guns weight and balance as it was designed, while making a monumental improvement to the original iron sights. The one issue the sight has it does have a tendency to slide rearward without some type of an added stop. On a Weihrauch airgun I always add a BRASS stop screw to the mount. The brass will not disfigure the hole in the receiver over time as a steel one might. The placement of the screw on the sight is very important to function of the safety button on a Weihrauch. Here is a picture of the sight and the screw I installed. When using the most rearward hole in the receiver (which is optimal) the sight base gets very close to the safety button. Picture is not the best on my HW 30 but can be seen. I usually mount the screw on the sight base closer to the slot (you can see in the base) to bring the sight another 1/8 to 3/16 further forward and away from the safety. I did this screw at center (between the front edge of base and slot) before I remembered to get very close to the slot (the little yellow square is the best placement), but it still functions fine but a bit more roomy if it had the extra distance. It’s a quick fix and it’s how the Weihrauch Diopter is designed. Also a picture (compliments of MDriskill) of an extension to the sight allowing for a smaller aperture. This really does add to accuracy. I plan to make an extension and will post the results. Also other members have some great peep sight options. So please post your success stories here.

On Line Retailers

I don't like to preorder or backorder anything, especially air rifles, but I am tired of looking for the HW30 I have been searching for and decided to bite the bullet. Any insights or comments on which of the following is more likely to get a Weihrauch/Beeman in stock the soonest? And/or less likely to have any complications arise with the backorder/preorder process?

Airgun Technologies  This is why I like so much AGT rifles

AGT make solid, accurate and reliable rifles.

This group of 5 shots was made this morning at 88 yards with my Uragan .22 Cal and JSB 18.14 grain pellets.

The rifle is zeroed at 50 yards. So I need to compensate (not perfect reference in the reticle). That is the reason of variations in vertical axle.

Not perfect, but really good group for hunting purposes:

Fox squirrel in California now has a season, hunting regulation change!

Hey gang

Just want to post this for all the folks in CA. Thanks to @SacramentoSam I realized fox squirrels are now classified as tree squirrels and has a season. They were specifically spelled out as invasive with no limit nor season before but that changed this year. Here is the news letter and there is only "tree squirrels" under small game section, and tree squirrels includes all tree dwelling squirrels including fox squirrel.

"Four types of tree squirrels are game species in California. The Western gray squirrel and the Douglas squirrel are both native to California while the Eastern fox squirrel and the Eastern gray squirrel have been introduced and not native to the state."

So don't shoot them on public land out of season in CA!
