Optics  SOLD Sightron Siii 10-50x60 Mil-Dot w/ custom wheel and Sunshade

Selling a very lightly used Siii 10-50x60.

It has the mil dot reticle and it focuses to 11y. I've never had a problem with that, and miss very few targets because of it.

It has a custom Hatchet style magnetic wheel. It pops on and off easily when wanted, and can only go on one way.
The hatchet design is purposeful, the ramp from the main wheel up to the blade of the hatchet has always been in my zero range. If it's on the blade you will have very visible numbers and a good distance between them due to the near 8" equivalent diameter.

The sunshade is made as a press fit into the objective. I can include the factory shade as well, but the 3d shade is nearly 1/4 the weight of the factory shade.

$725 plus shipping

Have any Field Target guns you'd be willing to trade for it?

Seneca/Sam Yang  Oldie but Goodie!

Haven't really brought out the older rifles in awhile. Few weeks ago, I dug them out of the back of the closet. Grabbed ole faithful, .25 2500 sumatra, looked her over, aired her up and let her eat! Well, she started off good and ended up catywampus. Crazy shot string, Found a bad poppet, couldn't find a stock replacement and took a shot in the dark and ordered up off ebay. Measured the new part out, adjusted length and reassembled. She's still bringing over 100 fpe depending on the lead she's slinging, but accuracy wasn't what I remember. Cleaned the barrel and felt negligent. I haven't cleaned the barrel in about 7 years I sadly remembered, if not more. It was obvious. Took her out just now after a thorough, loving, cleaning, hoping and praying she would forgive my tomcatting ways. Sent three full mags downrange 40 yards, three different projectiles, starting three clicks off full power for the first and up one each other mag for a total of 18 rounds. First few rounds shots were errant, but she tightened up nicely!
20230804_202320.jpg

The smaller holes are from the .22 notos. Kinda winging it today, and didn't throw up a new sheet. I'm happy with this as I know I didn't have a rest, and kind of grabbed last minute as the sun was setting. She's got a bit more to offer.

The Grease cup on the GX CS4 is crap.......

I've got 8 hrs on my new CS 4 compressor now....when I got up to 4 hours I turned the grease knob a full turn according to the instructions, I didn't notice any difference in the sound or anything. Today when I hit 8 hrs. I tried to turn it another full turn and it would not make but a half turn and stopped. I removed the grease cup assembly and the rubber washer in the bottom and cleaned out all the grease.....I don't think this factory grease cup actually works as the rubber washer was deformed and blocking the small hole in the bottom where the grease is supposed to go. I got a plastic syringe and put some of the grease in the syringe and installed the dead head on the fill line and turned the compressor on... while the compressor was running I injected some grease in the hole and could hear a difference in the sound of the pump when I shot the grease in. The thing is, GX does not say anywhere how much grease this compressor is supposed to use every four hrs. of use. I gave it a few cc's until I could hear a difference in the sound, as doing it that way I know for certain it got some grease in it as I don't want to rely on that janky grease cup set up as I don't think it works as they say it does....
Has anyone else that uses one of these hear a difference in the pump when turning that grease knob....????

Tuning  My First Attempt at Tuning

So a few weeks ago I posted a target at 25yds with my HW77 .177 cal. and was sort of disappointed with my effort. I got out the chrony and the gun was way low on power. Built a spring vise, pulled out a broken spring and ordered a Maccari spring and a Vorkek seal. Put it together a few days ago and have been testing it.

I am really pleased with the accuracy so far. Here are two targets, the first one at 25 yards with 10 shots on each bull, and the other at 18yds today with 5 shots each. Wind was blowing to hard to go out to 25 so I moved behind the house and shot at 18yds. waiting between wind gusts.

25yds.jpg

18yds.jpg

Chrono results were a bit strange, Temperature has been pretty hot, about 80 to 90 degrees during the chrono testing.

I tested the gun after the first 20 shots and initial results were perfect.
H&N FTT's 8.64 10 shots averaged 860fps at 14.19fpe

Tested again the next afternoon after about 150 shots with temps around 85 degrees.
H&N FTT's 8.64 10 shots averaged 835fps at 13.38fpe

Tested this morning with a cool unfired gun at about 75 degrees
H&N FTT's 8.64 10 shots averaged 840fps at 13.54fpe

I was expecting the Vortek seal to break in and give me a bump in power. Not the case.

This was my first attempt at tuning and I might have gotten a small bit of ARH moly paste in front of the seal. I was having a heck of a time getting the trigger block screwed in and I pulled the piston apart to check if I had a washer in the end of the piston. I didn't so without thinking, I put the piston back in the cylinder without wiping down the walls to remove any moly. I manned up and got the thing back together. Spring vise absolutely necessary in my case.

Also I used very little tar on the spring, and I can hear the faintest spring buzz.

Long story short, the gun is bloody shooting great. I may tear it apart in a day or so to see if I have some moly in the front of the seal and add a bit of tar to the spring.

Cheers
Z

N/A  Contemplating A New Big Bore For Hunting

This is something I’ve been thinking about all year. I have more than enough for my intended use, BUT I’d like to go for something that will is well built, has a range of ammo (and molds) available, a gun that will not be dated in 5 years and will still have available parts and support, rugged and a reasonable fpe range from legal to very powerful (think from hogs to elk or black bear). I haven’t worked out a budget, I’d like to keep it under $2500 if I can.

I know I can grab an AEA Zeus .72 and easily be over 1000 fpe. I like what @Cheplicki typed in his 24” Zeus post regarding tools having specific uses when someone commented on a .72 caliber airgun being overkill for hunting. Great reply. Anyhow, I usually hunt in the piney woods wheee most shots will be will be within 50 yards. I like to get in close to the animals, but I also hunt pasturelands. I also plan to get back into the mountains, so I can see some 100 yards shooting coming into play in the future.

So far I’ve been eying .45s and .35 calibers including:

1) Veradium Air Taurus (.357, but also waiting to see what’s going on with development of the .457)
2) AAA Slayer .452 (production on these appeared to have slowed due to increased demand for the Evol).
3) Western Bushbuck (the Buck and the Pig)
4) Western Rattler .357
5) Evanix Rex .45 (Ibex and another model whose name I don’t recall at the moment).

I’ve also viewed several AEA guns, but I’m unsure about the quality of them and how they’ll hold up long term. Comments and suggestions welcome on this list or other guns that you have experience with and recommend.

Yong Heng problem. ANY IDEAS/SUGGESTIONS?

After 3+ years I'm having my 1st major problem with my YH. It WILL NOT fill past 3500psi. I checked EVERY fitting & filter, foster connections, seals & o-rings where I could have a leak. Absolutely ZERO leaks. I put together a "dead head" fitting that ends in a pressure gauge. Compressor EASILY fills all my lines & filters to 4500psi but when I go to fill my tank the Compressor gauge & secondary gauge on my tank fill adapter WILL NOT pump past 3500psi! The needles on the compressor gauge, fill adapter gauge & tank gauge just sit at 3500psi & go no higher Doesn't make logical sense to me. Any ideas?

download target paper

yesterday i posted in Target Challenges about printing targets . I now use 60 to 65 pound card stock (lightest weight ) and most printers will handle this weight.
you get nice clean holes from wadcutters as pictured , I will shoot some domed pellets today on the same target .Staples

Which do you prefer?

It doesn’t matter what item there is (cars, bows, air gun, etc) you always have high end and low end. The common things to hear are “Until you have one this quality you don’t know what your missing” or “I can have 5 of these alternatives for what you paid for that one they do the same thing”. I can see the point of both sides because I have been on both sides of the debate. So the actual question is if you had to choose do you prefer to have 1 quality one or multiple of the lower quality ones?

FX  Does the FX Panthera make waiting for a Crown MK3 kind of a moot point?

I really enjoy my Crown MK2 .22 in the Saber Tactical chassis. I’ve been waiting for a MK3 version with some of the latest FX goodies. Very recently I’ve begun looking at all that the Panthera has to offer. Then it occurred to me that a Panthera with a front bottle added and the new K&L arca rail installed is basically an MK3 Crown with all the latest FX goodies. Adding a 480cc bottle in addition to the 300cc in the rear makes for a lot of shots. You get the much larger plenum, the cool front facing air gauges and the really nice fine hammer spring tuning set-up. Am I missing something or does the Panthera with its many options make the idea of a Crown MK3 a bit of a moot point? Thanks,
Kenny

New member from The Netherlands

Hello all...

After many hours of reading finally registered as a member.
Thanks for all the information!
I am Rick, 62 years old and for now a hobby shooter.
Have two pcp guns, Artemis 700 (which is for sale) a Hatsan Jet 1 and just bought a used Condor.

Greetings from The Netherlands

how I got my maverick scary quiet by accident

always in pursuit of silence so I can play in my yard like a ninja. anyways I literally have like 6-7 different suppressors and have tried them all on many different models and brands etc and I have finally achieve what I believe to be the pinnacle of silence. 25 more quiet than any 177 or 22 I've own even, on par with my 22 pp750 pushing 15fpe, maverick is 160/112 hammer 0, 26g @ 715fps about 30fpe or so.

so here's the back story and its kind of funny. I recently purchased my maverick from thepelletshop.com. had the bright idea of putting a 480cc bottle for poop and giggles, so I needed a skinny moderator. it was either hugget sniper or DFL koi and went with the koi because it was a little longer and cheaper. so pretty straightforward you would think

but the reason it is scary quiet is get this... the koi is 177/22 caliber! no issues with clipping. and even though DFL has told me directly that larger volume is what suppresses more I've found this is not always the case. because my huma mod40 works better than my mod50 on my AEA SF .30. so with this tid bit of info I took a bit of a gamble got the koi in a smaller caliber,. they even called me to confirm that's what I wanted. works like a charm!

Air Arms  TX200 Lube Question

I have an almost new TX200HC.
I ordered and received(in 5 days) a TinBum Short Stoke tune kit from TinBum in England.
I'm getting ready to install it and I'm going to use Krytox instead of TinBum's moly lube that came with the kit.
I have cleaned all of the old lube out of the gun completely, but have a question:

Do I lube the outside of the compression tube where it slides back and forth in the receiver when cocking? There was a very thin film of something on it when I removed it and in the receiver, but I thought that may have just been the moly from the spring and piston that dispersed though firing the gun.

I have it all so clean now, that I'm being extremely careful about where and how much I lube with the Krytox.
I've looked at dozen's of threads both here and on the other forums regarding tuning a TX200, but nothing has ever been mentioned about lubing the outside of the compression tube where it slides in the receiver when cocking the gun.
I guess that I could call/email TimBum, but wanted ya'lls opinion please.
Thanks in advance.
Norris

Getting started

Hello,
I am wanting to get started in our local benchrest outdoor 50yd matches. I have an RTI prophet 1 in 22 with the LR barrel, Vulcan 3 700mm 22 setup up for slugs at 80FPE for hunting. A Hatsan carnivore in 30cal at 100fpe for hunting and a tx200 in 177 for FT. Also, a Vulcan 3. 500mm in 177 for open class.
I thought about trying the RTI for it and using my rock jr front rest and a rear bag for it.

Now,
I would like a dedicated gun for benchrest. I can't afford a Thomas but I would like a decent gun and scope and a flag setup with maybe something different for rest setup. If had to put a limit it would be 2,000 for rifle/scope setup and unsure about flags and rest. I do know no high dollar rests.

Also, I have never played this game before.

Thanks
Jon
