Benjamin  IN-LINE Bottle "Mini Marauder" ( Pistol or Carbine Application )

Take a shorty Gen2 M-rod tube, Put in a small balanced valve, Light hammer w/integral SSG for starters.
Make up an ASA adapter to take a screw on Ninja Regulator or a free flow manifold utilizing the small diameter 13 or 22 cc aluminum bottles.
A full 15mm barrel to be fitted into a .22 cal breech and will have barrel passing over the air tank w/o contact.
Gaining clearance required a 1/16" shim under the receiver, tad longer transfer tube. Barrel currently in place a full 15mm that needed the area over bottle reduced to @ 7/16 ( .437" ) to clear the bottle. An OEM crosman barrel would have been great if i had one
:P

Ideally this to be a .177 cal carbine / pistol with barrel at 15" Have an AR style HST cap if going that route. Also have a SYN factory stock that might get modified to fit.

Just sharing an odd little build I semi finished a few weeks back & now fiddling with it a bit as i recover from the shoulder surgery.

Homemade FT pistol case

Yes, I could have simply bought a plastic case with roughly the correct dimensions. But wheres the fun in that?

I've had this pistol a couple years now, and always had the conundrum of storing and transporting it. FT pistols are factually anything BUT a pistol. They're too big to fit in typical pistol storage, and they're not the right shape to stand upright in a gun case. So for about two years it's been stored on an extra shelf, sitting on the miniature bipod. And for matches it would be placed on top of the blankets and pillows and sleeping bags in the back seat. Neither the storage or the transport situations were optimal.

Had a new fridge delivered at work around 6 weeks ago, a special fridge for a particular use. Well the fridge had some fancy closed cell foam protecting it in various places......hmmm, looks an awful lot like the closed cell foam in a gun case....hmmm, that 1 inch thick sheet of foam could be the bottom, that 2.25" thick sheet could be the cut out, and that thinnest 3/8" sheet could be on top. And so I threw the three sheets in my trunk and left em there for a few weeks while I pondered how to make a case, visiting my shed a couple times, sorting through all my scrounged lumber.

Ran a few designs though my head, focused around the dimensions of the foam and the lumber that I had. Finally decided on building it about like a drawer, but without 45 degree angles at the corners, or finger joints.

It is 3/4 inch poplar all the way around, with 3/8" plywood for a top and bottom. Three pocket screws at each corner, one for the lid, and two for the bottom portion of the case. I built it, and then cut the lid off just using the fence on the table saw, all the way around. By doing it that way the wood grain on the sides lines up, lid and lower.

It's not fancy construction, nor is it quality wood work. Overall fairly tradesman in design and execution, think framer, not cabinet maker and that's about what I've got.
This is pre stain, and pre hardware. Generic cutout for the scope in case I swap out for a different scope on the future, and room to extend the scope cutout further forward for a larger scope. 24 inches interior length, and I think it ended up being 13 inches interior width. Pistol rules limit overall length to 25 inches so it could presumably hold any future ft pistol purchase instead of this 1720t. If a gun fits in the case, it's legal for field target, as far as length goes.
PXL_20231029_011410703.jpg
PXL_20231029_011424483.jpg

Since my little 1720t is Bumblebee, I decided to try and make the case somewhat match. The wood was pretty plain so I wasn't losing much in natural wood beauty. I've done this two tone process before, with decent results. Basically, stain with oil based stain, ebony in this case. Wipe off oil based stain and then restain with a water based aniline dye, yellow in this case. Repeat the aniline xtimes for darker color. In theory the water based and oil based stains penetrate to different depths and different types of woodgrain, creating contrast. This was a past stock project where it worked pretty well.
Screenshot_20231104-001601.png

It didn't work so well on the poplar and ply though.

Here is the finished product. Polyurethane applied hastily and without sanding between the coats. I just wanted to seal and protect it, versus creating a furniture grade finish.

PXL_20231104_065515913.jpg

It is surprisingly not as heavy as it looks, despite being WAY overbuilt.

Other than my time, cost me about $9, for the latches and hinges. I had everything else, including lumber and stain and poly and even the pocket screws. So the price was dang sure right.

I intended for it to be mostly storage and transport to matches. In my mind I was expecting it to live horizontally most of the time. Now that it's built, and "seeing" the final product, I'm thinking I need to work out a handle so it can be carried vertically.

Fun little project.

Crosman 1377 and accuracy

Hey Guys,
Just joined up on forum and at age 65 I have not had an air gun for probably 50+ years. I recently bought a Crosman 1377 and as most say let the mods begin. Lots of Buck Rail items and some from Alchemy Airworks. This little gun is a shooter. The pellet box target is 6 pellets at 30 yards. Seriously it is that accurate. I had to try quite a few brands but RWS pellets in the 8.2-8.3 weight is what it likes. Also 6 pumps is where it shines. I tried some what I call cheap red dot and variable power scopes from Amazon and returned them and got a 2-7 power Vortex and it showed what this little pistol can do. It is so quiet with the moderator it’s unreal how quite. We have neighbors who have had auto wiring destroyed by chipmunks and one neighbor even had his wifi fiber optics wiring chewed up at the hub in his yard. I have been shooting them behind our home and in the past month and half taken 27 so far. I was kidding my wife I was going to make her a coat, may take a few years 😂

Best ballistic calculator app

Recently have become interested in finding an ballistic app for my pcp that’s topped with the vortex 5-25x56
Stralok looked to be a good option but the maker is from Russia an our govt has all his stuff blocked. Has anyone had experience with element or hawke to know if they have other scopes and reticle aside from their own listed on the app

FX  Fx Maverick 600mm, 480cc shot count and energy

Hello guys!

I'm planning to buy an FX Maverick(22), my main problem is the barrel lenght. I would like to shoot slugs but I want a barely compact gun.
So my plan is: FX Maverick VP because this has 600mm barrel, then I buy a 480cc bottle. The price of these will be a almost the same as a Maverick Compact.
(If I know right the VP doesn't come with a case but that's not a big deal for me)

Now I have a Wildcat compact (tube version and huma slug power kit, superior liner) and I'm shooting JSB ko's and HN 25grains very well at 950fps but by shoot count is... let's say a half mag.
I would like to shoot these too and because of the longer barrel and bigger air capacity I want to try 30grains slugs and I would like to install the high power kit for my maverick too.

If anyone has this configuration please let me know some information about shout count and anything about this setup. :D

Tuning  Seeking Spring Guide Guidance

Hello Airgun Nation

I hope you all can help me learn about making custom spring guides for spring piston air rifles. I thought I could reduce my learning curve before the chips start to fly by tapping into the collective knowledge of members here who have made custom spring guides. I would greatly appreciate it if they would share some of their hard earned wisdom born of experience. I will list some of the questions I have been considering, but would welcome any empirically derived advice.

I will begin by making a set of guides to fit the OEM spring in my TX200, but hope to move on to making improved guides for some HW rifles and perhaps others.

I know this subjects gets pretty deep in terms of really tuning a shot cycle, and I would welcome some suggestions about how to think in that regard, but my initial goal is just to dampen all spring vibration and get consistency in the rifle, I guess as measured by the chronograph.

I am thinking of starting with a guide made of acetal, for ease of machining. Is there a significant difference between the acetal homopolymer Delrin and generic acetal copolymer material? Have you had more spring guide failures with the generic copolymer material? Is there a compelling reason to use another guide material?

I am hoping some of you can share your “order of operations” for making spring guides?

I would love to know your reasons for doing certain steps before others.

Do you bore out the interior of the guide for the piston latch rod before sizing the outside diameter of the guide to the inside of the spring? Perhaps, even with a tailstock center this would make the guide flex too much and complicate turning to a precise diameter? I have never worked with acetal on a lathe.

Does anybody bore the interior then mount the guide on a mandrel for turning the outside diameter?

Do you use a slip washer in front of the top hat?

Are you using a two piece rear guide and leaving a loose fit between the part of the guide that goes into the spring, and the washer-like spring seat that slips on to that longer part of the guide? I have read this can keep the guide from failing in the area where the longer part of the spring guide transitions to the flange that holds this slip on washer/ spring seat. This loose fit can potentially also help with both spring torque and latch rod misalignment on the piston. What type of clearance or “slop” are you allowing between these parts?

Do you have any details to mention that you think are important. Places to chamfer or radius the guide parts for durability or performance?

If you read this far, and want to help an amateur who is about to start making his own spring guides, Thank you!

Airguns and preppers. The problems with airguns.

Hi lads, I don't consider myself a prepper, but I like to have some canned food and a few gadgets, like emergency radio receiver, solar powered battery charger and so.

I know that this topic may not apply on the EEUU where firearms and ammo are common and widespread available, but here in old Europe (the continent that once ruled the world), I think that ammo will ran off pretty quick, on a SHTF situation like the one described by Selco Begovic and his experience on a sieged city with no basic supplies for a year, or a more drastic pandemic, or maybe a carrington effect provoqued by a solar flare or just the gradual turdholation of our countries reaching a social collapse with basic supply chain interruptions.

Well... few civilians posess firearms here, plus the amount of ammo you can store is also limited and controlled, but with airguns, at least for the moment, they are generally more tolerant and a good alternative, not that much for self defense, but for hunting.

You can store much more pellets, but eventually they may ran off as well... so 1rst question:

What are the alternatives? Clay pellets? Compacted aluminium foil pellet somehow midly casted with a ligther? melted bottle plastic with also a lighter? Carved playwood pellets with a nail? soldering tin pellets? Asuming you don't have lead or ways to cast metal into pellets, just junk, what will you use to feed your airgun, not ruin too much the barrel and put a stable flight and impact?

The other problem is the regular degradation of the o-rings and that other white plastic thingy that seals the valve that if you dare to take it out and watch it in a way that he felt unconfortable, will lead to permanent leakage, the more complex and sensible mechanism of an airgun compared to a regular firearm is a big handicap for the apocalypse.
A posible solution is to just have many spares, how will you store them to last for forever? I have a stupid o-ring spare that I never used, and the other day it start spilling ''something'' on its own, I don't think it's even usable anymore. Can you cast O-ring and valve seals subtitutes out of junk? Cause I tried once to repair the white thingy that seals the pp800, rotating it against the seal to take ''perfect shape'', try to shape it myself with a machine, hottening it and it was no use... I just have to purchase a pack of aliexpress spares and out of 5, only 1 worked, so, this is a problem.

I watch a crappy Van Damme movie where future people shoot each other with airguns made out of junk and I thoug... Hm... this may not be unrealistic in Europe, but how do they made the O-rings and seals? uh?
