N/A  What are some decent, more compact springers?

Is there such a thing? Is there any springer that is under say 38" that is still powerful enough for pesting/hunting?

Almost every spring gun I see is a beast and usually over 42". Probably my biggest turn off to them is they're just huge, and then cumbersome with a decent sized scope.

Tuning  A Visual Representation of Piston Bounce/Weight vs Hold Sensitivity and Accuracy

Ok so messing with full power tunes for a .22 springer here. I was already inside the gun modifying the trigger housing to accept a better spring guide and decided to swap the heavy 55g top hat for a lightweight 10g top hat. Got it back together and took a few shots down range to settle it in and then moved to paper because it felt pretty good.

Red circles: 10g top hat, front bag only. Holy f.... I think there's something wrong here.

Moved to the Orange circles: 10g top hat, artillery hold with hand between front the bag and stock. Better. Nothing wrong with the barrel, the gun is just hold sensative. Very hold sensative. Let's put that 55g top hat back in and see what happens.

Green group: 55g top hat, front bag only. That's better. One low shot but thats definitely better. Amazing what a 45g/0.1lb/1.6oz can make

Long story short, sometimes the manufacturer knows best lol. Still worth the experiment though and I may try again and meet in the middle to see what happens.

HW/Weihrauch  Great expectations - my Venom arrives soon

It's with great expectation that my latest collectible airgun arrives ...maybe today. @warlord graciously allowed me to be the next caretaker of his Venom HW77 Verminter made in 1986. (Not the one that was recently sold on Gunbroker) The Venom (and Airmasters) airguns were the product of extensive modification/tuning by famed tuners in England. They produced some of the finest air rifles using Weihrauch, and Webley airguns (to name a few) as platforms for their products. New photos will be forthcoming but I have some old ones from previous times. And yes, the scope is included.:D

Traditional Rifle  NLA Daisy, FWB 300 S, fresh rebuild

Daisy, FWB 300S car latch cocking lever just back from Dave Slade on a total rebuild and resealed. Gun was built between July and August of 1971. This is a standard 300s with Daisy markings. Gun is very clean, no cosmetic issues and definitely no mechanical issues. Only reason I am selling it is I have the same 300S (Without the Daisy markings) in a Tyrolean stock. I would swap stocks and keep the rebuilt action but Dave said each action is hand fitted to the stock and may not work correctly. Gun will be shipped in a hard case and insured. Can’t be shipped out of the stock as per Dave. My shipping may look a little high if it runs less than what I quote I’ll refund the difference. If it’s more I will eat it.

PCP Rifle  SOLD FX Impact M3, 22, 700 mm, tungsten hammer and barrel clamp for tension shroud

FX Impact M3 "sniper", 22 caliber, 700 mm barrel, tungsten hammer and barrel clamp for tension shroud.

This FX Impact is in as new condition but I have opened the package and discarded the original cardboard box. It comes with the Tungsten hammer weight installed as well as the dual clamping barrel support for a tension shroud (see picture). This air rifle has the expected factory M3 components, namely a power block, a finger adjustable micrometer wheel, the 720 plenum as well a 700 mm barrel that is supposed to shoot pellets and some slugs equally well.

This airgun is as new condition and priced less than $500 below retail considering the Tungsten hammer weight. The price is firm at $1750 just like used Impacts without the Tungsten hammer are priced at retailers.

Purchaser pays shipping costs and insurance. Venmo payment preferred. Contact me using the forum message tool.

Other  FX King vs BRK Ghost

I have an urge (for some unknown reason) to sell my MKII and buy either a King or Ghost in .25cal with the eventual aim of using it as a slug gun (I realize there are no barrels available for the Ghost yet). I have a Crown MKII in .25cal so that can be my pellet rifle. Which one of those two would be the more accurate? I'm kind of leaning towards the Ghost for the form factor, but really like the looks of the King.

PCP Rifle  NLA AGT Uragan .25

Up for sale is my AGT Uragan .25 in great condition. It’s been incredibly accurate right out of the box so I’ve never made any adjustments to it. Never seen any inclement weather and mostly shot at an indoor range. I’m selling it with a short piccatiny rail mounted underneath the front of the hand guard. This really helped to make the rifle more stable for bench shooting. I’m also including the 6-24X50 Monstrum FFP scope mounted as shown in the pictures. It has a couple of small scratches on the scope noted in one of the pictures. The bi-pod is not included. This will come in the original soft case and double boxed. Included is all of the stuff that came with it when purchased new: Fill whip, fill probe, pen with caliper to measure groups, key chain, 2 original magazines, orings and owners manuals for rifle and scope. Any questions, please let me know… $1100 shipped.

What are YOU hoping that Santa will bring you this Christmas?

What are YOU hoping that Santa will bring you this Christmas?

Well, the punctual German that I am — I wrote my Christmas gift wish list in late July and dutifully passed it on to Santa.

However, this year I'm having a bit of a problem with that list and/or Santa.... 🤦🏻‍♂️

➠ See below....

Matthias

FUN. Christmas Gifts — I'll have to buy them myself.jpg

Tuning  Tuning a Balanced Valve — for quieter shots

Tuning a Balanced Valve — for quieter shots

In my ignorance I said:
Balanced valve = more power at lower reg pressures = BETTER! 😃

And promptly bought a PCP with a balanced valve.
(RTI Prophet II Compact Performance,
.25cal, 500mm RPB barrel)

Continuing in my ignorance, I had made a plan:
I was going to dial in a high reg pressure, and then dial the hammer spring far below the max. power at that reg pressure (as in 10% or 20% "below the knee").

Why? Because I wanted a very short sip of air — at a very high pressure — in order to quiet my shots.
(The resulting higher MV variations I was willing to accept, since my shots were going to be short range.)

⚙️ PLEASE, ⚙️
school me on tuning guns with balanced valves!!

I might not be able to tune my gun "quiet" as I was planning.
➠ But I certainly need to know how to tune it!

Thanks! 😊

Matthias

Compressors  NLA GX CS4 lowered to $400

I have mostly sold on ebay as moonwulf909.(Private sales from eBay welcome) Mosty bought here, but have traded multiple times and couple sales here. Paypal or Zelle. Local pickup SoCal available. I will cover up to $25 shipping to the lower 48 states.

Filling my gk1 to 4800psi or topping up my 40 ci ninja bottle is all it has been used for. I have not installed those timers others have so can't tell exactly how long on. Can say if it ever felt warmer than normal would stop pumping and let fans cool it down. But does really good not getting hot.

GX PUMP CS4 Portable PCP Air Compressor, 350W Powerful Motor, Max 5800Psi/40Mpa, Water and Fans Cooling, 5 Hours Continuous Work, 12V Auto Stop PCP Air Rifle Paintball Air Compressor

. It works great. I will buy it again someday

Airgun Technologies  AGT Vulcan 3 100yd Bipod only no bag

Been a couple weeks since I've shot. All groups were shot at 100 yards. Think it's about the 5th time out to the range with the Vulcan III
Top five groups are with AVS 62.5 grain 3063 caliber
Lower five groups are varmint knockers 62 grain slugs which were supposed to be knurled up to 306 but average size I measured was 3045 caliber.
Shot off of a bipod no sandbag or anything so any flyers were probably my fault not the rifle.
Think I'll get a sled or at least some sandbags to see what this Vulcan III is actually capable of because just shooting off of bipod I still had some groups under one inch at 100 yards. The circles are 3"

WFTF Rules guidance

Question for knowledgeable WFTF shooters.

Short version - Are the WFTF Rules updated each year to include any changes made by the committee at the new World’s Championship venue?

Long version ….. and reason for asking

I plan on shooting the World’s scheduled to be held in Arizona this year and I have been reviewing the online rule book from The WFTF website (Competition Rules-2021 Edition) dated on most pages as July 13, 2015.

https://www.world-field-target-federation.org/rules

A few years ago I injured my right knee (tear of a meniscus) and had a fracture of one of the bones. My Orthopedic Doctor advised surgery as the meniscus does not heal itself. Not wanting to have surgery I have been living with it.

For the last few years I have used the below cited rule in the AAFTA Rule Book (AAFTA Official Field Target Rules Revised: December 8, 2022)

AAFTA 2023
The following section:

WFTF Division Rules/ Forced Shooting Positions/ Kneeling
KNEELING
There shall be only 3 points of contact with the ground (2 feet and 1 knee). The gun must be…….

“A. An allowance for additional padding to fit between the thigh & the calf/foot can be requested from the Match Director prior to the start of a match. The pad cannot be larger than a legal-size kneeling roll. It will (be) at the Match Director’s discretion to accept or deny any request.”

AAFTA RULES
https://www.aafta.org/uploads/1/2/7/6/127666620/2023_aafta_official_field_target_rules.pdf

Currently, the WFTF Rules do not address this issue. I have never had a Match Director deny my request. Not wanting to bother Garrett as he has his hands full, I’m sure.

Thanks for any guidance.
