N+1, what’s your number?

I like to believe I’ve learned a lesson from a safe full of unused powder burners. And am looking “not” to duplicate the same with airguns. Truth is I can only use one gun at a time. To that end my air gunning trinity:

Pathfinder XR: Plinking/pesting
Atomic XR #1: Daytime pesting with some plinking
Atomic XR #2: Nighttime pesting

These three cover what I do with airguns in a variety of situations. Feel very fortunate to have the trio to cycle through.

PCP Rifle  NLA Bush Buck .45

Hello, I have a full size western Airguns bushbuck .45 that I would consider selling. It has the gray laminate stock in good condition only minor blemishes. It’s been shot approximately 50 times or so. price is $1150 And preferred payment is cash face to face or USPS money order.
let me know if you are seriously interested and I can get you any pictures you’d like. I may give this add a week and if it doesn’t sell I may trade it in at AOA for another gun I’d like. I’d like to keep the scope.

Other  Girardoni (wind rifle) circa 1779

The air rifle that started it all, carried by Lewis and Clark during thier adventures. Came in .46 and .51 cal, 4 ft long and capable of shooting at 1000 FPS and putting a ball through 1 inch pine at 100 yards. Loaded with 20 balls and hand pumped could shoot 80 times on one bladder which was also the butt stock. 1500 pumps were required to fill each bladder.

Tuning  Follow up on tuning the RAW HM1000x (I still like the rifle, but...)

My current strategy to tune a RAW HM1000x.LRT (.30 caliber) to shoot various slugs and pellets has become somewhat of a chore. Out of the box the RAW comes tuned from the factory to shoot a specific pellet which it does very well. Tuning for other types of projectiles due to the lack of an externally adjustable regulator is inconvenient at best.

The goal is to find what regulator pressure and hammer spring tension will deliver the best precision at what velocity for each type of projectile. The OEM regulator requires you to remove the air bottle AND regulator from the action block to adjust. An option which I have done is to purchase a HUMA adjustable regulator, however, this still requires the removal of the air bottle to make the adjustment saving the need to remove it from the action body. Still having to remove the air bottle for each change wastes air and takes time and I don’t have patience in abundance.

Initially I was going to simply open either regulator to a very high pressure (say 190 bar) and provide lower pressure to the RAW air bottle from a dual regulated air gauge connected to an large external air tank. This way I can start at a lower pressure, say 140 BAR and work my way up trying various hammer spring settings. However, this does not allow a convenient way to go back and test settings at lower regulator pressures without removing the air bottle and bleeding off air pressure. Again, inconvenient and wasting air.

The solution, bypass the air bottle (remove it) and connect the external dual regulator and air supply directly to the action/barrel with additional fittings from HUMA which I purchased (see red dot 1). However, without the air bottle what would hold the gun in the front rest? I certainly don’t want to rest the barrel on the front rest.

A second concern I have is confirming what the actual air pressure is in the action/plenum and how close it relates to the indicated pressure from the external dual air regulator connected to an external tank. The installation of a digital air gauge into the action is my current solution, however, this requires the action to be tested out of an unaltered stock. This setup will allow me to note the indicated air pressures in the action/plenum that produced the best precision and at what velocity so that I can duplicate that performance when adjusting the HUMA regulator to deliver the same velocity with each projectile I’m likely to use with the digital air gauge in the action removed and the action back in the stock.

So testing the rifle out of the stock poses a challenge which along with no air bottle for support will require a method to secure the rifle in a rest. I looked into purchasing a second hand stock which I would cut off just before the digital air gauge inserted into the action. Used stocks were found in the $275 and up range, so currently that is not an option.

I’m currently working on a bid with a fabricator to make me a jig to hold the action/barrel that I can then hold in my Ransom front and rear rifle rests. Aiming the rifle is anticipated to be done using a TriggerCam camera and smart phone. Maintaining a vertical optic position will be handled by an MDT digital level mounted to the Spuhr scope mount. If I’m able to get behind the optic I may drop the use of the TriggerCam.

My rough sketch of the jig is not to scale and I don’t have any CAD software for my current Windows operating system. I have an very old version of AutoCad, but the upgrade price is not an option at this time.

My next PCP is going to have external regulators and an easier method of tuning. Believe it or not, I still like my RAW, but I’m likely to settle on one or two projectiles once found.

PCP Rifle  SOLD Special .177 Wolverine HP Huma Regulated

The gun was hand selected from the UK factory. It took 5th of 100 competitors and the only .177 in the top or possible at all, at EBR ‘23 at 50 yards‼️ It’s a shooter with 16.2gr JSB pellets at 935 fps and very good with 13.43gr JSB Knock Outs at 970 fps.

The stock is absolutely gorgeous (few minor handling marks) and is ambidextrous. I’ve updated the action with the block-off plate which deletes the pin plunger. Now uses new mags. 2-CARM magazines come with the rifle as well as a single shot tray. Scope, rings and Huma mod are not included. $1,700 shipped. PayPal F&F. PM for inquiries.

Crosman  1701p is excellent

Out of the box, 7.4g CP @477fps with 3fps deviation over 5 pellets, 1/4inch groups at 10m, backyard friendly and a 6oz trigger. I was having so much fun I never did try any other pellet.

Might be the best out of the box gun I have ever shot.

Not sure if I even need to tune it.

I have monster paws, so it could use bigger grips, but hardly a deal breaker.

I highly recommend!!!!

PCP Rifle  NLA WTS/WTT Kalibr Cricket 2 Tactical 45 .22 - New Listing (not the same old repeats).

I've decided to let go of a very nice Kalibrgun Cricket 2 Tactical 45 .22cal. Gun is in very nice condition with no issues other than slight normal signs of use. I purchased this gun a few months ago from an AGN Forum member because it was reasonably priced and I just wanted to see what the Cricket 2 was all about in comparison to my FX Wildcat MK3 BT and Impacts. I wasn't disappointed at all! The gun is extremely accurate and efficient shooting up to 18g pellets at speeds up to 900fps+. It's also very Backyard Friendly especially if you add even a small moderator, it's whisper quiet. The only place it fell short of the FX guns was power above 18g. I like to shoot a variety of pellet weights up to 25g from a small Bullpup and the FX was just easier to tune for that task. Gun comes with six 14 round .22 magazines, three of which are brand new, a brand new Huma Regulator (installed), as well as the factory regulator and an additional 420cc CF bottle (factory 350cc installed on the gun). Also included is a custom Fab Defense Monopod Buttstock which add a little more LOP and monopod for bench shooting (factory Buttstock also included) and a Custom Cheek Riser that makes it much more comfortable to shoot. It's a sweet little gun I know you'll enjoy shooting. Only Trades I'd consider are an Airmaks Krait Compact Bottle gun (Laminate preferred) or an FX Compact Dynamic 500mm. Cash price is $975 shipped (told you it was reasonable for such a nice gun!) PP F&F, or other electronic payments. I'm more than happy to accept calls for questions, DM for contact info. Thanks..

My 1st Coyote of 2024 - Head shot

It wasn't long that 2023 passed us by. I have been fishing a lot the past year but the coyotes keep coming in thick this winter.

This one took NSA 38.5 grain slug 910 fps to the brain at 20 yards. His mistake was hanging out too long and being careless.

At this point, I can say this power level does not usually create an exit wound. The brains and blood get blown out of one ear most of the time. This to me, is my ideal power level for these animals on the brain.

Ran out of adjustment

I am a newbie when it comes to long range air gun shooting. And I recently mounted a new scope and the zero range is around 20m. The scope has 25 MOA adjustment range on the turrets, and I had to adjust it around 13 MOA up at 20m meaning I only have around 10-11 MOA of adjustment left on my elevation turret. And today I decided to use strelok pro for some longer range shooting and found out that to shoot to 70m I have to adjust 11 MOA so that maxed out my elevation turret. Is there anything I can do other than adjustable mount, because I don't want to fiddle with them as I found out in the past that they can be a pain in the arse to get perfect. Any advice from some experts?

FX  FX Impact vs BRK Ghost !!!

Any users having both the guns, Impact and Ghost, please share your comparison with regard to tunability, accuracy, efficiency, trigger, cocking, maintaining POI, magazines and any other things that may be important for the potential buyers who need to decide in favour of either one.

One thing that I see is that Ghost does not provide the fine tunability that Impact fine hammer offers. Further Ghosts's valve is not adjustable while Impact has externally adjustable valve.

Due to the above two additional adjustments, Impact appears to be adjustable in more precision.

While apparently Ghost only offers externally adjustable regulator as adjustable hammer is quite a norm.

Please share your thoughts with pros and cons.

Almost no troubles

Ive purchased over a dozen Hatsans in 2022 and 2023, new and refurbished. I have had trouble with only one, and Hatsan returned and refunded me. I also bought many more airguns from other manufacturers as well. I had to return an Umarex Fusion 2 (inaccurate) which they replaced. The replacement isn't consistently accurate. And my Notos had a slow leak. No other problems. Most of these purchases are refurbished guns.
I think my favorite is my Seneca Eagle Claw Carbine.

BRK Ghost World Record Edition

The Ghost since its introduction 12 months ago, has been incredibly well received and BRK is determined to keep fully up to date as well as keeping it visible to the shooting public.

Winning not one but two world championship titles is an amazing feat, but to set a world record score in the process is an incredible achievement.

And yet that’s exactly what Fady Kiwan did earlier this year at the Benchrest Rimfire and Air Rifle Championships held in Plzen, Czech Republic, where he used the same BRK Ghost across the many disciplines, only changing the barrel length and calibre – one of the rifle’s key design benefits.
To celebrate Fady’s success, BRK has launched a special edition Ghost based on the two-time world championship-winning rifle. The BRK Ghost World Record will be limited to just 250 rifles worldwide.
Based on the Ghost Plus model, the .177 and .22 rifles will have a 430mm barrel and offer both 12 ft/lbs and high-power variants at 18 ft/lbs and 45 ft/lbs respectively (25 and 61J). The Ghost HP model provides the basis for .22, .25 and .30 calibres rifles with barrels of 600mm and, for the first time, 711mm.
With a striking red colour scheme and custom-designed engraving to celebrate world championship wins, the rifle is equipped with top and bottom race ARCA and M-Lok rails for competition use. Other than that, in keeping with Fady’s record-breaking approach, all other features are standard. These include a 20-point power dial; adjustable regulator pressure (export and FAC models); carbon air bottle; moveable Picatinny scope rail, and the ability to accommodate a range of accessories such as adjustable butt pads and single shot loader
