Fx barrel tension clamp.

Hello guys, anyone know where I can order the fx barrel tension clamp for the impact? I just want the clamp, not the kit. I have the 600mm impact so it's pointless to buy the kit since the kit only comes in 700mm. But site like prymaid air, Utah airgun, talontones, airgun depot, they only sell the kit. Like wth, why not have an option for us to buy the clamp without the kit. I see blackwood outdoor sell it separately but that's outside the USA. I am looking for a dealer in the USA that will sell the clamp separately. If you know a dealer in the USA that sells just the fx clamp, post it here. Thanks

which bottle 'strategy' with new compressor

I started airgunning about a year ago. First a springer, then it didn't take long till I got my 1st PCP (FX Impact m3 pre-owned). At first I didn't want to invest too much so I bought a shoebox compressor (new warrior). It was pretty good for my needs although a bit slow. However fuses burnt a few times, and now since yesterday something is wrong in the compression block so no pressure build-up anymore. I might get it repaired under warranty, but I'm a bit fed up with it and will sell it once repaired.

Hence I just bought a serious compressor from Coltri. This should be a different beast... I hope so at least for the price difference ;-) I do have a few questions though related to how I should use if for filling. It's a 100l/min compressor, so pretty fast.
  • Is it a good idea to fill up the PCP guns straight away from the compressor? It should only take 1 minute something. But wouldn't it cause a lot of wear and tear on the compressor to pump often for such a small volumes?
  • I suppose getting a SCBA tank is a better plan. I have an FX impact (250 bar max) and Leshiy 2 (300 bar max). If i want to use them untethered I suppose I need large tanks if I want to fill the guns a few times close to their max capacity?
  • or is it wiser to take a smaller bottle and top it up more frequently?
  • tethering to a large bottle while shooting sounds a bit tedious to me, but I might be mistaken?
So the question is: what kind of bottle(s) would you recommend me? I shoot at home in my garden, so portability to the range is not really an issue.

NSA .20/18.9 expansion experiment

To add on to this.....

And as I commented that I'd test here....https://www.airgunnation.com/threads/hollowpoint-skiving-serration-on-slugs.1316203/

Credit to @Motorhead as I saw him do it first and shared about it online a couple years ago...

I started shooting these .20/18.9s not long after they came out, and struck slug gold! Absolutely amazing slug. Theyve become my número uno for prairie dog pesting at a couple of the areas (where there's nothing behind the dog colony). As I've noted though, they tend to poke a hole versus dead-right-there a pest. I've had them go clean through big euro doves, wing joints included. And they usually go through and through the dogs and keep bouncing, kicking up dust like a rock skipping on water. Even a head shot on a dog out to 100yards doesn't stop the slug. So I've always assumed very minimal, if any expansion.

After the discussion a few days ago I decided to give the ole Motorhead Phillips tip a go.

A Ph-1 was the ticket. There was concern raised about base deformation when using a hammer and hard table, etc. So I just pushed them against my thumb. I'd rather they stay accurate, even if it means no expansion, so wasn't too keen on the idea of doing something to them that would make them shoot less accurately.

Made myself about 40 of them in just a couple minutes.
Here are the first couple.

PXL_20240730_030037822.jpg

First order of business...are they still accurate?
This pipe is at 95 yards on my back irrigation berms. This is three shots (whiter marks above and right are bird crap).
PXL_20240730_161337645.jpg

Yep, still accurate!

First experiment......
I figured a liquid laundry detergent bottle full of water would be sufficient to stop them. Thick plastic and about 6 inches of water....I was also mostly curious about long range effect so placed the jug at 95 yards. Shot it three times, kaWHOP, kaWHOP, kaWHOP. Went downrange.....and all three went through both sides of the detergent jug and kept on going.....quite surprised that six inches of water and two thick plastic sides didn't stop them.

Second experiment.....
Maybe more water? Filled two 1 gallon zip lock bags with water, nearly to bursting, and laid them down, one in front of the other at 95yards. Only shot once here. Went through both bags! This was around 10-12 inches of water. KaTHUMP on impact!!!! Interesting thing to not here is that the final layer of Iplock baggie has two holes in it, so a petal had to have broken off in the water of the second bag.

Third experiment.....
Bars of soap, set them down, front to back, at 93-94 yards.
PXL_20240730_220017059.jpg

Took one shot with a Phillips head slug and gathered up the soap. The shot was a bit off center...but served to contain the slug. It was just barely stopped by the fifth bar.

This is the wound channel....
Slug travel is top to bottom here.
PXL_20240730_220647615.jpg

Slightly different angle, slug travel is again top to bottom, can just barely see the slug in the closest bar.
PXL_20240730_220657029.jpg

Slug travel is bottom to top in this photo..
PXL_20240730_220720043.jpg

And now we need a control.....ie what does a non-Philips head slug do in the same conditions? So i had to take two shots here as the first one hit a bit high and figured it'd miss the soap bars. You can see both holes here....

PXL_20240730_221500196.jpg

Here is the wound channel for the non-Philips....
Your can see the high shot grazed the first couple bars but it missed the later bars and kept going. Slug travel is top to bottom here. This unmodified slug also stopped in the fifth bar, and just started to bulge out he far aside of the fifth bar.

PXL_20240730_221859016.jpg
PXL_20240730_221906945.jpg

Left is the slug that was shot without modification. Right is the Phillips head slug.
PXL_20240730_222312829.LONG_EXPOSURE-01.COVER.jpg

And a close up of the expansion...
PXL_20240730_222503203.jpg

Quite obvious that they'll expand more when aided by the Philips. Since my Phillip indentations were quite shallow, I can only assume they'd get a full petal if the Phillips marks were deeper into the head of the slug. Seems like I remember Scott may have even shared that the four edges of his Phillips bit to make it deeper.

So, of you want expansion, this seems the easy/cheap way to get it. The fact that it doesn't ruin accuracy is the best part.

Super fun experiment.

FX  Fx impact amp reg. Washer stacking

I have an impact mk2. I need help to restack the washers. I have try looking YouTube. I see video from Utah airgun and ernest. But their video is mostly just talking and they do not show an diagram how each washer is stack. I do not know how it's stack by them talking and not showing a diagram.I do not see anyone except ernest talk about how each washer is different thickness. Does no one actually measure the washers? Cause I had 7 washers range from .44-46mm and 4 washers range from .55-57mm. Can anyone here tell me how they are stack? There are 11 total washers. Also mention where the thinner and thicker washers goes. Start from left will be the reg housing, right will be toward the plastic piston. Thanks

PCP Rifle  NLA FX King 600mm .25 with Extra Kit (***REDUCED***)

FX King 600mm .25 with Hunter Brown GRS stock. This is a beautiful rifle in a wonderful stock, but I am not shooting it enough to do it justice. Thought I would get into longer range shooting but that hasn’t worked out as there is nowhere close for me to shoot. I am going to go back to all .177 equipment (with a.22 barrel and probe for occasional hunting) to keep wife and neighbors happy. So, all the great potential of this rifle would not get used by me.

This rifle was bought with a 500mm .22 barrel with the 110mm long plenum. I got the parts and converted it to a 600mm .25 barrel with a 220mm long plenum. I am selling it in the setup shown here - 600mm .25 cal (Superior STX liner - 1:24 TR). I will also include:

  • Two .25 FX magazines (new style with bearing and 15 shot)
  • One .22 FX magazine
  • CARM single shot loader (both .25 and .22)
  • 600mm Superior Heavy STX Liner (1:18 TR) with CF sleeve (not glued)
  • 500mm Superior STX Liner in .22 (1:24 TR) with CF sleeve (not glued
  • 110mm plenum, pellet probe, and parts needed to go back to a .22 cal.
  • Saber Tactical Picatinny Bottle Clamp.
  • Full set of O-rings in separate packages by part number.
  • Custom-fit FX Hard Case
  • **** Now including Huma Avalanche 40-4 .25 Moderator ****
I currently have the rifle shooting the JSB 25.39 pellets at 907 fps with an SD of 2.3 and an ES of 10. This is with a regulator pressure of 75 bar and QTS at @ 1.2. Shooting around 5 mags without dropping off reg. I have also shot the FX 34.9 pellets at 870 with an SD of 3.1 and ES of 9. That was at a reg pressure of 90 bar and QTS of @ 1.75. With this setup I usually get more than 4 mags shot.

New Price of $1650 !!! I am asking $1800 TYD. PayPal FF or PayPal Invoice if you pay the extra. The scope, rings, bipod, and monopod/bracket are not included.

Borescope Recommendations

I'd like invest in a decent borescope, but don't want to play trial and error. The majority of my rifles are .22 cal, with a few .25 cal also. Any that you can recommend? Most of what I see don't have a small enough camera to fit the bore. It can even be something that plugs into my android phone. Thanks for any and all tips and pointers.

Congratulations to Paul Cray for his performance at the Finger Lakes GP!

Great job by Paul Cray this past weekend at the Finger Lakes field target Grand Prix event. This was a 2 day match with a total of 120 shots. Paul was 3 points down after day one, but kept his head in the game to come back on Sunday and win the event via shoot off. Paul's match high total was 113. Piloting a 12 fpe rifle to middle of the long targets in the wind is a daunting task, but Paul made it look easy. He's Finger Lakin' good. 😀

Awesome job, Paul....and thanks for counting on Thomas rifles to back up your talent!

Air Arms  Shooting a TX200 in a Rimfire Challenge

Just for fun I used my TX200 MKII .177 to shoot in in a monthly challenge. It was a fun thing to do. It uses ARA Unlimited targets, which are scored worst edge. I think I can do better.

Rifle: Air Arms TX200 MKIII
Optic: Vortex Diamondback 6 to 25
Ammo: Air Arms 10.3 Field Heavy (unsorted and unlubed)
Front Rest: Rock BR with Edgewood Bag
Rear Rest: Protektor #13
Temp: 85F and 85% Humidity
Wind: 0-5 but mostly 0.

Score: 1860 with 4 maybe 5 x's

Excuses: I suck

Accessories  SOLD MDT SRS SKELETON RIFLE STOCK WITH AR FOLDING ADAPTER KIT FOR PANTHERA/ DYNAMIC RIFLES

Today I am selling my used MDT SRS SKELETON SHORT RIFLE STOCK FOR $200.00...which includes the FX Panthera/Dynamic AR Folding Stock Adapter Kit from Utah Airguns, and also includes free shipping anywhere in the CONUS insured at full value. I will accept payment via PayPal Friends & Family, or you pay the overage if you choose to send the funds via PayPal “Goods and Services.”
This stock has the AR Folding Stock Adapter Kit from Utah Airguns already attached to it, which allows it to be attached to your FX Panthera or Dynamic air rifle, as well as the brass plug required to plug the air hole in the block. I had this folding stock mounted on my FX Dynamic air rifle, which required cutting away part of the cheek rest so that when the stock is folded all the way it cleared the cocking handle on my FX Dynamic and lays snugly against the block. (A new plastic cheek rest can be obtained from MDT if you prefer.) I also added a piece of Leopard pattern neoprene to the cheek rest with contact cement, to make it non-slip on my cheek while shooting. This stock is being sold as is with minor imperfections.
All the best, Chuck Peffley
Here is a link to show you all the factory info and some photos of mine below.
