I have a carbon fiber sleeve for just in case I have to remove the barrel and not install the orings. Do you think it will help my Mavericks accuracy shooting the 25.4 MRD @ 940?

Any tips for installing the liner/sleeve? I just don’t know how tight to make the barrel nut. Thanks

This came off another post I read dealing with terminal effects on game from different caliber at modest power levels. As with many of these threads, is super easy to trail off on specific instances of power and caliber applications. One member I respect, L.leon is a huge proponent of modest power, mostly 22 cal and its evident effectiveness at dispatching critters at good range. I tend to favor bigger caliber with higher power especially with durable critters like raccoons. I feel more confident with the extra margin of error it affords me to ensure ethical kills. Now, is a 30 cal slug gun necessary for squirrel or bird? No, of course not. Plus the danger of pass through or miss must be appreciated. Would I shoot a raccoon at 80 yards with a 177 or 22 cal pellet at sub 12 or even sub 20 FPE? I’m sure a vitals hit would succeed, but I’m sure not comfortable trying that. I guess the debate is what is really needed for a task, with exceptions always occurring. Or using overkill and risking collateral damage. This is the balance we all seek.
For the post to be the most beneficial, responses should try to stay objective. We all have had “exceptions “ but they’re really not the norm. It’s too easy for the thread to trail off into the weeds.

'New' gun out by Air Arms.

I’ve been on these hogs for about 2 hours. I heard a lot and jumped one just before 5pm. Ran across this fella while looking for the sounder after dusk.


Looks like a neck shot with a 140 Griffin rebated boattail hollow point slug. It didn’t dance long.

Shot out of one of the trees on the right.


She was shot off of the tree and fell into the mud in this creek bed, just missing the stream of water.

Strip down for a look see and to clean out all the factory grease. Couple of observations, there's already some rubbing marks on the receiver. I was thinking they added a delrin piece in the cocking arm?
Also as expected the piston is slathered in grease and in front of the piston seal and in the front of the receiver.
The guide is sloppy, not even close to touching the inside of the spring, like .030 slop..lol.
Usual burrs and sharp edges to be smoothed out.
Spring looks like 29 coils of .106 wire and slightly kinked.



Anyway, I'll clean it all up, relube with Krytox, and maybe make a new guide. Does anybody have pics of the delrin insert in the cocking arm, or does it even matter?
Maybe later on I'll try to make a o-ring piston seal to see how that does. I'll have a black Rowan straight set back trigger blade for mine next week. This one is going to my nephew for Xmas.

I've just recently got back into the PCP airgun hobby after a 20-25 year break. WOW have things advanced towards the better. I started buying used airguns on the web, cleaning them up, tuning a little and then reselling them. After flipping over 75 airguns this enabled me to attain 4 Theoben MKII Rapids which I fell in love with and still have a very special custom today. The rifle was purchased by an engineer from NASA in Cal. and he sent it to Allen Zasadny with a request to do what he would do to his own favorite Rapid, spare no expense and boy did he. Allen was the Theoben God back then. When he got it back, he of course loved it and then went custom crazy. He machined a titanium 200cc airtube and an incredible fabricated made from scratch, full length shrouded barrel that was finished in gloss black and incredibly quiet and spot on accurate like most custom MKII.'s. After a couple years he sold it to me. Keep in mind that I had AZ tune my 3 other Rapids but nothing like this one. I waited 3 years for Dave G to whittle me a laminate thumbhole stock (torturing wait) and fell in love with the rifle which I still have today. I actually managed to achieve my first single hole 3 shot group at 50 yards, of course benched. I sold my 3 other Rapids and kept this one.

When I figure out how to post photos, I will and I would not be surprised if some older members recognise it. and maybe me. I recently decided to get back into bench shooting and ordered another PCP tactical rifle. I can't wait for it to arrive. I think I'm going to like it here!

I think the Benjamin Kratos is a little long in the tooth. Being it was new in 2019? So like the title says, not the newest thing out there.

So for that reason I kinda feel weird being so excited and impressed with this rifle.
Like nobody is there to share in the excitement lol. Basically old news to many

But with all that said.

I love this thing. The Turkish Walnut is really nice. Would be amazing with a finish on it that pops that beautiful grain out.
It shoulders extremely well standing off hand.
The side lever action is like butter cycling another pellet in the chamber.
The trigger! Wow, it’s going to take a little adjustment. But man it feels great.
The look and feel of the rifle is quality.
The plastic mags are the easiest loading plastic mags I’ve used. I just wish they were aluminum. Not for function (because these work great) but for the look of quality.
It’s my little nitpick.

I can tell already that I’ll be shooting with it often.

Honestly feel like I stole it

HQ issue tactical rifle case. I don't know what makes this tactical over any other rifle case... does that mean other cases are not tactical? Anyway, fits the Vulcan 3 with scope attached and a little extra room to spare. I've looked at some more expensive cases that didn't seem any more sturdy than this so works for me.

Also got my better half one for her Vulcan 3 and also one for her bow.

This Krait is .177 and was just detuned to shoot the 10.3g pellets at 820 FPS. It's silly quiet, and the unique "report" makes me smile & giggle (I'll try to capture some audio for you).

I ordered these guns on Monday from Krale in the Netherlands. They processed and shipped the order Tuesday. I received them here (deep in the Arkansas sticks) noon today (friday) . Pretty remarkable getting a package here from another continent quicker than Amazon Prime orders.

The package had one tiny superficial rip. Sufficiently wrapped in bubble wrap the Weihrauch packaging is in perfect condition.

This is good because one of these is a Christmas/birthday (today BTW) gift for a good neighbor and friend of mine.

People do all kinds of mods to just about every other multipump, but I havent been able to find a thing about people doing anything to these particular rifles and it seems like they'd be an ideal platform to build on.
