PCP Rifle  NLA Western Airguns Rattler .357

*** GONE ***

I bought this gun pre-owned from AoA late last year and have only been able to shoot it one time. Then, the State of CA in its infinite wisdom closed down our local range, so I have no place to shoot even an airgun this powerful anymore. So I'm putting it up for sale.

I asked for the gun to be tuned for JSB 81gr pellets as I was going to start with those. I've made no changes to the tune.

Comes with soft case.

Asking $1,875 shipped (CONUS), with payment via PP F&F.

Thanks,
Tom

Daystate  Building a Blackwolf for HFT

We will get to the Blackwolf in a second but first some background.
I enjoy all Airgun related activities. Besides trying to start a new airgun range and field target club in the Mobile Alabama area called, S.A.G.E. short for Southern Air Gun Enthusiasts. I also enjoy helping new shooters get started and helping them discover what they like and often i help them find and set up their stuff. It's not as painful helping other people spend "their money". I'll post some pictures this weekend as time permits.

My newest shooter is 78 years young; he's in great health but he is still 78. After trying all my different (i have "20" too many) PCP air rifles he decided most all of them were just too heavy. Money wasn't a problem so he wanted something snazzy, and lighter.
Weight considered, the closest option i had that was to his liking was my Redwolf L.P. version with a 300 CC bottle; the turkish walnut is the lightest stock for a Redwolf. This RW currently has a pretty big Sightron S3 on top.

Hmmm... pause

In steps the Blackwolf in the entry level model. I suggested and he agreed to place a pre-inventory order with AOA 2 - months back? It arrived late last night 10 April 2025 too late to play with or take pictures. AOA had already done the hard work. They Tuned it Down for HFT <20 FPE and kindly shared their experience in doing this tune along the way. I already shared some of this tune info in another thread called Blackwolf Information.

The first thing i noticed at 3:30 a.m. this morning, during some initial setup, was just how light this PCP was.
AOA put a 300 CC btl on it per request to keep the weight down.
With the Athlon scope and wheel shown, the all in weight is 10 lbs 3 ounces. which includes a PRS single shot loader and a PRS M-Lok to UIT adapter.

The second thing i noticed was: you better use medium, or better yet, HIGH scope rings.
I initially tried my ol “slam the scope down as close to the barrel as you can, using low mount rings. No worky, the 50 mm bell on the Athlon Ares BTR Gen3 HD 2.5-15x50 using low rings the bell was probably going to touch once the pic rings were tightend up. I ended up temporarily using some Eagle Vision 30mm inf adjust rings i had laying around and they worked fine.

This particular Athlon scope may get replaced with the Maven RS.5 4-24x50mm in SFP depending on which scope reticle and weight the end user likes prefers. https://mavenbuilt.com/collections/riflescopes/products/rs-5-4-24x50-sfp?variant=38111355240619

Even in a <20 FPE tune this .177 had a BARK. So after trying several different moderators I chose the Weihrauch moderator as it IS the quietest option that i had. https://www.airgunspares.com/weihrauch15unfweihrauchsilencer12unf.html

got off early today and went straight to work on the Blackwolf.

First thing was to chronograph it to see if it was Hft legal.

reg pressure was at 120
power wheel was at 10

jsb 13.43’s were flying around 915 FPS.
Too hot for Hft so I began turning down the power wheel and at 6 I hit the sweet spot of 815 FPS….

Based on experience with my Ghost, I chose 30 yards as my starting point for zero; and it was a good choice.
I had a 5-7 mph wind right to left but was still able to lock it in Within a click or two. I’ll fine tune or adjust a click or two later when the wind disappears.

The Blackwolf did not disappoint!

25 shots at 30 yards… see picture - those are 1/8” blocks. 4 outliers out of 25 from a wee bit of a wiggly bench. I made no attempt to correct for the wind.
This wolf likes the JSB 13.43 exacts.
45 shots were avg of 813.8 FPS on my Garmin C1 chrono

IMG_9457.jpeg
IMG_9455.jpeg
IMG_9454.jpeg

I found it easy to get a good eye box, on the bench, but there isn’t much room on the Blackwolf to move things around unless you have some sort of adapter.

This Blackwolf, as tuned, is very air efficient. If time permits this weekend I’ll try to get a full shot count from a 230 bar fill to the reg setting at 120 bar.
i did create a basic dope chart from 10 - 30 yards by taking actual shots and every shot by the 1/2 yard was very predictable and consistent.

diablos vs hollow points for rats

I have been using predator hollow points for years to eliminate rats using an old .177 discovery. I recently picked up a couple of tins of rifle premium series 8.33 grn .177 Diablo style pellets. Color me impressed! I am still getting 930fps and they are accurate out of my disco out to 20 yards, I am getting about a .45" group at 20 yards. Not world-class but devastating on rats. The profile on these is much closer to a flat point than other "round nose" pellets I have used and they wack the critters with authority, generally not exiting on the far side with body shots. I need to get a few pictures but at a lower cost, and better accuracy, I think I have found my new favorite pest removal pellet. What are your experiences with round nose vs hollowpoint on pests?

Tuning  Tuning regulator - can you have a reg set too low?

When tuning a gun with a regulator, is there a minimum reg pressure where the gun will start doing not so well?

My experience is with the Taipan Veteran Short .25 caliber. When I bought it a few months ago, I tuned it to 25 FPE with the JSB King 25.39gr. pellets. The reg pressure ended up at 65 bars and the hammer spring tension was tuned to the knee about 2% less than maximum. This tune was shooting the JSB King at 670 FPS. I would zero the rifle and think everything is good only to miss a 27 meter kill shot that requires a follow up shot the next day on a squirrel.

That distance is very comfortable for me as I've went a good stretch with my 30 FPE Veteran Long without missing a shot. I know how that sounds but I'm not trying to brag. I'm just trying to understand if it's really me.

I will then check my zero again at 33 meters and has always been hard keeping it within half an inch or so.

After I missed my last squirrel a few days ago, I decided to re-tune the gun to 32 FPE with the same pellets. The regulator ended up at 95 bars with the pellets going 755 FPS. I've only shot paper yet, but I find it's much easier to hit bullseye with this new tune.

Yes, I know 755 FPS is faster than 670 FPS so I believe it does help with lock time some but I feel it's not the major contributing factor since MANY people are accurate with velocities much slower than 670 FPS. Could it be the pellet is just not accurate at that speed with my barrel? By raising the reg pressure, does the gun now have better harmonics than when it was lower? Is the 95 bar pressure better for this pellet because it accelerates it quicker and creating a better seal when compared to the slow acceleration at 65 bar reg?

These are some of the variables that I think is affecting my gun. I'm starting to believe that for a particular gun/pellet combination, there might be an ideal reg pressure that will allow the projectile to seal against the barrel properly and accelerate it fast enough and have time to settle down before exiting the barrel. I don't know... I'm not too versed in this stuff but I'm just reporting what I'm seeing and experiencing firsthand.

276 yards with a .20?!?! He he yep!

This wasn't planned, just off the cuff. Just this one attempt, only took 5 shots at 276.

.20/18.9grsin NSA at about 34fpe at the muzzle.

Series of photos is gradually increasing in magnification.

Rangefinder is 6x.

Scope is 20x.

Hard to see the five shot group so I added some blue dots above the "group" on the rock.

On the full scope image can somewhat see the group at about 5 mil right and 3.5mils above cross hair center.

Three into maybe a golf ball sized group, with the two to the right making it maybe 6" or so. Wind.

I could hear and see the compact and it took a LOOOONG time for them to get there after pulling the trigger. Quietly Down Under, airgun style. Lol

PCP Rifle  WTS FX DRST

Looking to sell my like new, lightly used FX DRST in .22 w 500mm barrel and 4 magazines. Comes upgraded with extra regulator. I have additional extra like stock, and moderator we could discuss as a package deal. Message me if your interested and we can talk numbers with or wo the extras. I also have pictures available upon request. Bought about a month ago from Palm Beach Airguns. Only selling because I have come to prefer semi auto (Hubens) and not the side lever. Very good gun for what it is, very accurate and efficient. Can get 4 mags+ out of a single fill, thats over 56 shots.

Looking to get 900-1100 depending on extras or not.

N/A  Daytate Huntsman Revere Regulated Safari

After spending months watching YouTube videos and reading comments on various forums, including here, I have decided that the Daystate Huntsman Revere Regulated Safari will likely be my first PCP rifle. I will be buying it from Airguns of Arizona, and they have a promotion when purchasing this rifle that includes a free moderator. The Daystate 5-year warranty was another factor in my decision. I believe the Daystate ranks high for its price point compared to other PCP rifles in its class.

I plan to use it for a variety of tasks, including target shooting and pest control on my property and on a friend's dairy farm. My targets will include pigeons, rats, squirrels, raccoons, and skunks. Initially, I considered the .22 caliber; however, I believe the .25 caliber will be a better choice for dispatching furry pests.

I have not pulled the trigger on this purchase but I do have an itchy trigger finger.

I appreciate any comments from my airgun brothers plus any other rifle recommendations.

Where to find??

Guys
I am looking for the correct size of the Barrel "O" Rings that fit the Seneca/Storm Rider type rifles, and where to buy them, as there seems to be a lack of any supplies for sale.

The following measurement are from the Barrel dimensions:
Depth = .044"
Width = .040"
Inside diameter = .340"
Outside diameter = .384"

Metric spec's (Not sure these are correct measurements) = I don't speak metric...
Depth = 1.05mm/1.10mm ??
Width = 1.00mm/1.05mm ??
Inside diameter = 8.60mm/8.70 mm ??
Outside diameter = 9.75mm/9.80 mm ??

Is there a site or place to but some?
Tia,
