Air tank possibly dangerous?

I have an omega little "pony keg" air tank that has been awesome for years.
It has 1000 PSI inside and it is stuck. I can turn the valve. Neither will letting the purge open (I expected that of course but I was exploring how broken)

My first instinct was to twist the valve off and I put the tank between my leg and was about to twist and then I thought about what the hecking heck I was doing.
Can our awesome community please tell me how to NOT blow my balls off?

I just want my lil tank back it's really great.

IR NV - which one?

Been scrolling through amazon lately and pondering a IR-NV unit for a little after dark pesting. Pard, Oneleaf, Starstrike etc. There are numerous brands and they all seem to look like they do exactly the same thing. I've watched a good many videos of the fellows in the UK and they mostly use Pard. Was curious if any of you have bought and used any of these and what are you thoughts on them. TIA

Thx
Ray

RAW .30 HM 1000X LRT, first shots

Over the last couple of weeks I did some “horse trading” and traded off a couple rifles that were not seeing the light of day. The net results were a pair of RAW HM1000X LRT’s in .30. One new (the black one) and a pre-owned (blue) one. I have owned two LRT .22’s and a .25 previously and was familiar with the platform. RAW triggers set the gold standard to what other mechanical trigger should attain to be.

The weather was mid 40’s with a steady and cold rain. The wind was mild at 3-5 out of the west, at my six. I had hoped to test these at 100Y but since I had to dial in the scopes and it was raining, 50Y was all I wanted for the conditions. Three shot groups were enough to fill the bull areas. I wanted to get a feel for what pellets these dispensers preferred and quickly realized they both preferred 44’s to 50 and 56 variants. This concurred to what info I was able to find in the search function on AGN and other forums.

Unable to post pics so I guess you’ll have to use your imaginations until they fix the forum.

Parts availability by brand

Let me start by saying I have relative brand inexperience (FX, snowpeak, Hatsan, Air Venturi) and also limited after sale parts needs (orig hammer for FX and would have liked an extra poppet for my original avenger while I owned it but wasn’t avail during ownership period).

That out of the way, a couple of posts regarding parts availability I’ve seen lately had me thinking.

What brands can you contact after sale and order parts for? Let’s say for example you need a new cocking linkage arm for brand “X” pcp, what brands can you get after sale OE parts for?

I know for me this has been a concern when looking at investing a large amount of money on any of the Eastern European brands, example Taipan.

Looking for actual experience here, not second or third hand info.

What say ye?

Taipan  Why I like Taipan(s)

I have three of 'em, and I shoot them a lot, more days than not, the laminate Vet since '18. The Mutant and the brown Vet are the most recent and have been occupying most of my time...I "KNOW" these guns and have taken the time for familiarization simply because I enjoy shooting and owning this platform, an important point over look by many...getting to know your gun doesn't happen in just a few plinking sessions...IMHO. I did an informal test (comparison) of my 3 Taipans and a Kalibergun Mini Carbine being the odd man out...all .22 caliber with JSB 18's @ 35 yds sitting in my (easy) chair resting gun on my knee, as my custom is. I shot two sets of 4 targets at least 5 shots each...Mini was first. Mutant, Brown Vet, last Laminate Vet. Mini was (is) hamstring by an inferior trigger, lower X scope 16X but still a great gun...but not in the same class is Taipan, (groups speak for themselves), The Mutant was aquired from member Shambozzy a few months ago, (bless him) bought new in '15ish, and is all factory original, somewhat lighter than current Mk1 Vets...the shown groups attest to my feelings about this one...this Mutant shoots CPHP's, you would have to see to believe. Brown Vet, actually has a coffee Laminate stock but I have an older Ukrainian stock on it...newer gun given to me to pay off a dept, may be most accurate of the bunch...example group says so, Laminate Vet...my pet with 40X scope heavy shot last in test, I was getting tired and shows in groups. Note, Mutant and brown guns are wearing Veyron 6X24X44 scopes...I highly recommend. The 3 Taipan's triggers, cocking and general balance feel and preformamce are identical consistent...can't tell the difference. The takeaway from this test...Note the best groups from guns I have been shooting most and the Mini's inferior trigger groups, the laminate Vet was affected by wind weight and being last shot. All regulators are a factory...all HSA at between 825-860 fps...pellets lubed but not sorted...As for me, I'm sorry to see the Mk 1's discontinued...but I've got my share of them...Now you know why I'm a fan boy!

Arken vs. Element Optics

A friend recently bought us an Arken Optics EPL-4 6-24X50 FFP scope when it was on sale last month. (You can't beat friends like that! God bless him!)

I'm loving this scope. But what do I know?

A lot of people on this list really like Element Optics Helix scopes.

Now he's thinking of buying an Arken like ours for himself.

Do any of you have experience with both Arken vs. Element Optics scopes? If so, which do you recommend he get?

Also, does Element Optics run sales on their scopes like Arken?

I finally got a Bullpup!

I received my Akela the other day; I was leary because I shoot left-handed;I shoulder it, and it was okay.
Now I realize why so many people like them. They fit well. The next thing was mounting a scope; I mounted Hawke Vantage with medium rings, which was too low, then used Burris extra high rings; Burris makes some Great rings. But the scope was too long fir my taste;I like good aesthetics,so a shorter scope was in order,I know I had a Westhunter, some were, but then I stumbled on my Barra scope 4-12x40, now we be talking, great scope.....where is my setup, oh high rings. After mounting the scope, my first shoot with no setup was very close to my aim. Great,I am happy; I may be converted now, maybe.OK,I must wait to post a picture:rolleyes:

When squirrels run

I shot my 18th squirrel with my P35-177 yesterday. I've also shot 18 with my P35-25. I had two run after impact with both guns. The 25's two were front of chest shots that probably only got one lung. The 177s were through shots behind the shoulder. I had worse hits with both guns that didn't run. I think an additional factor is if the squirrel knows you are looking at it. It seems like they get keyed up to flee and at impact they do if they can. If they don't see it coming they are more likely to just collapse.

Does that make sense?

FX Impact M4 Sniper

This is a followup to my previous post about my experience with FX. I purchased a new gun and received a very defective gun. It was a terrible experience. I finally received a new replacement gun and it is defective as well. Unbelievable to get 2 back to back defective guns. The new replacement gun leaks the pressure out of the cylinder. The shop I bought it from suggests that I spray soapy water in several places to detect the leak. Anyone out there have any suggestions for me? Im pretty disgusted with this total experience and am disappointed in the investment I made into this PCP world. It's hard to understand how FX gets the reputation of being the best but I can't seem to get the support I need to get a properly functioning gun. Are there classes to take on the disassembly, repair and reassembly of these guns? If so,are they any good?
Thank you all for the feedback to my prior post. I appreciate all. Merry Christmas to all.

How accurate are gauges on guns?

How accurate does everyone think the gauges on guns are? I have a TJ2 valve 9L tank, and alkin reg from top gun Airguns. When tethering my airforce Texan with an AAO upgrade the gauge and reg say 300 bar but the gauge on the gun is ready maxed out at 315. The gauge has to be off, correct ? Is there a way to get it calibrated?

Soooooooo, this was the problem all along. SMH! I shot about 100 rounds through my Texan trying to tune it and was wondering why my reg and gauge were so far off! Even shooting at 250 bar with my AAO kit I was slinging 350gr Nielson HPBT at 973 FPS!!!! Can't wait to see what it does on a full 300 bar and correct tuning!!!

Scope Recommendation for Bullpup

Hey folks! I'm in the market for a new not so heavy scope for my Bullpup (for shooting or hunting purposes) but I’m trying to avoid spending a ton of money.

I’ve heard a lot about top-tier optics, but honestly, I’m not ready to drop a fortune. I’m more about balancing performance and budget. Anyone have recommendations?

I’m looking for something that gives good clarity, decent range, and solid accuracy without being overpriced. Maybe something under $300 (but open to suggestions if it’s really worth it). 💡

For context, I’ll mostly be using the it on a medium-range shooting. Precision matters, but I don’t need pro-level gear for now.

What do you all think? Any mid-tier scopes you’ve had good experiences with I’ve seen a few options, but your feedback would help a lot! 🔍

Thanks in advance! 🙏

Feel free to tweak it as you see fit!

NEW GX CS-3 Noisy: listen please

Hello members

I just tested my new CS-3 today
Everything works as it should, but the fan noise is very loud.
2 Videos linked
- Sound internal faN ONLY
- Sound fan & pump together

I am not concerened about the pumping noise.
It is the loud, relatively high pitch of the fan that I think is the issue
Please listen and let me know if what you think
I'm. of course, ready to contact GX

Thanks
Edward

RUDE Surprise

UPS now charges for a box or plastic bag to ship free Amazon returns so keep the box you recieve stuff in so you can return and not get charged $4.18 for a plastic bag. . I am guessing the box price depends on the size box ?
So since received from two shipping cities i had to return to two places @ total $8.36 cost .

Taipan  1 complaint about new Taipan Vet 2 Standard

I'm starting to like most everything about the Taipan Vet 2 except for the noise it makes, I guess everyone has a different idea of what quiet is but to me this gun is not it. All my guns that are in or close to Taipans power are quieter with mods.. even in the woods squirrel hunting it seems fairly loud, shot at a squirrel at 60 yds and it definitely heard the shot when I missed.
Would like to take that big ugly mod off and put something else on it that might be more effective but the way its set up dont see how, if you've put a different one on or modded current one on your Vet2 please explain how and what you did.. Thanks in advance for any help.
