American Air Arms All Things EVOL

Let me touch base with him again tomorrow morning 🌄 then I'll report back, I'd love for all 4 of my mags to work, not just 3.
I also messaged him again. I tried some different pellets, and while they push through the mag better than hades, they still snag a little and damage the pellet heads on their way through. I’m sure there’s a fix. I just wish he’d share!

Some pictures of todays gun range fun. Tested out a few different mods on the Paradigm, and they were all quiet. I do need to bring my tools and really tune the gun better. Was not grouping all that good with the 18.1gr pellets. Though with the 23 grain slugs it looked promising.

I have had this happen to me a couple of times with pellets as well. Aside from now carrying a fiberglass rod in my case now to tap the jammed pellet back into the magazine, I also did some experimenting with the different magazines to figure out why it happens and completed the fix for it.

What happens is the very edge of a pellet head will catch this sharp edge of the magazine as it begins to exit. (Check out the difference in the two magazine holes, before and after.) This sharp edge is sometimes catching/dragging the edge of the pellet's head, which allows the pellet to want to move sideways in the magazine. Then, the extra force we apply with the cocking lever jams things up. Through testing, the solution was to cut, radius and polish the leading edge of the hole in the magazine. I haven't had a jam since, and can feel that there's no catching issues anymore.

Cleaning and polishing up the inside edge of the hole was easy enough with these steps: (1) Disassemble the magazine. (2) Working from the outside to reach the inside corner of the hole at an angle, take a razor blade and lightly cut the sharp corner off the hole. One or two light cutting swipes all the way around the hole worked. (3) Polish the cut edge into a smooth round radius with 400-600 grit sandpaper (I rolled sandpaper tightly around a small .050" Allen wrench to work the close corners and add pressure to the paper.) (4) Reassemble, tightening the screw so the magazine lid is closed on all sides and rotates with a little bit of resistance.

@madeintheuk Here's instructions (above, from post #75) on how to modify the magazine port hole to stop pellets from snagging and or shaving on the way through to the breech. It works great and only takes about five minutes time. Alternatively, I think that the AAA authorized warranty dealer is Airguns of Arizona, who should be able to answer those questions.

While I think I'm going to try this and appreciate it, i do believe at $100.00 per mag we shouldn't have to change the product we have in hand though.

Totally agree!
As an engineer and machinist, Tom machines things to beautifully precise tolerances. I applaud this, as do most who have owned his work. However, 'issues' do come up in doing so, in everything manufactured in the world (but usually because of sloppy loose machining tolerances, rather than the Evol's tight tolerances). This is going to be addressed going forward.

Shot a quick 100 yard card yesterday, under 3 minutes time from the top left target sighter (shown at top of the top left target) to the bottom right target to finish it. 1 Sighter.

Pretty sure when my MDT stock returns from K&L it will be making its way onto the Evol

The score on the card using a .22 cal pellet is 202 1x , not bad at all. This rifle is the bees knees :)

Those MDT stocks are slick looking!
It has some weight to it thats for sure being its all aluminum. I had bought it for my panthera but the panthera is gone so this needs a home. Thinking battle worn FDE cerakote on the rest of the rifle in time and it would be one fantastic rig.

I just made sure the face plate was snugged up so it was flush and had no play. This seemed to work for myself. I have not had any issues since. I think it was mentioned something similar in this thread early on also by a member. I agree that for that price these mags should be flawless.

Finally my turn to join the AAA club! 😁

Been wanting an Evol since 2016.

Ordered and paid for the gun a couple of months ago, but shipping to me here in Norway was a real pita so it did not arrive until today.

Latest version Evol Mini .22. Came with a very nice bag - but I already had a backpack and some upgrades waiting for it. 😅 First 11 shots over the chrono looks very promising (JSB 18,1gr).

Would you want to sell the pack? If so message me
Also, love the MDT Carbine stock on there!!!!! Hell yes brother! That seals the deal for what I want to do to my mini, my mini is my favorite rifle to date, hands down!

Mine is shooting 18.13 around 820 fps but the reg on mine is turned down a bit, shooting hades at 865-870.

Not sure it’s worth the international shipping charge? It’s this bag: https://www.saviorequipment.com/collections/specialist/products/specialist-covert-single-rifle-case
How does it feel once in the unfolded position? is it solid? any wiggle or shakes?
The MDT SCS is rock solid when unfolded. The adapter has some composite inserts that locks it in place. Makes it a little hard to fold (I’m used to the L2 that swings open with no force). Leaps ahead the rattling Magpul stock it came with.

My mini has the magpul stock and I actually love the stock itself, if possible, would you measure the total length of your adapter combined with the mdt carbine stock lite you have mounted there? No rush, at your liesure but it would be much appreciated.
