Benjamin New Pistol

Ordered a custom field target pistol from Airgun Revisions. I have two tins of pellets through it. Added some nice furniture to it today. Amazingly accurate pistol. The 10.3's seem to buck the wind like a .22. Put a Burris 2-7x32 pistol scope on it. Hitting spinners and cans with aplomb in a stiff breeze. Thirty regulated shots. Very satisfied customer.

That’s a pretty expensive pistol built for FT if I’m not mistaken 👍

I consider the P-Rod to be widely under-appreciated. I'm pushing my unregulated .22 pretty hard (20 foot pounds), so get 15-16 shots per charge. The 58 yard brain-shot mentioned in the attachment is no longer my longest air pistol kill, as last week I extended that record to 60 yards with my .22 GK-1 that is producing almost twice the power of my P-Rod. But FWIW, the P Rod is slightly more accurate (.75 to 1" average five-shot groups at 50 yards, versus 1 to 1.25").

I totally agree. Its a little dated but proven design. I think the older barrels had some accuracy issues(so I’ve read) that maybe gave them a bad rap? The newer barrels are awesome. Ive had similar accuracy results with mine. Out to 30ish yards it literately stacks pellets. Slowly opens up to about 3/4-1” average at 50 yards. My latest isn’t pellet picky either.

My latest Prod is regulated and gets 3 mags at a little over 18 1/2 fpe. It’s so light and easy to carry. No problem hitting a golf ball sized target out to 60 yards. Love this gun. I might have to try a pistol build soon. Never really messed with one. Could be nice for my dog walks.

What's the max fpe you can run in that class? I know nothing about competitive shooting.

That sounds like an incredibly satisfying setup! The 10.3gr pellets' wind resistance doesn't surprise me - I've found heavier .177 pellets often outperform lighter .22s in blustery conditions. How's the Burris 2-7x holding up to the pistol's recoil impulse? I've considered that exact scope for my Prod but worried about the eye relief at higher magnification.

Your accuracy report makes me want to drag my chronograph out and retest my own regulated shots. Are you getting consistent velocity strings across those 30 regulated shots? Nothing beats that feeling when custom work delivers beyond expectations.

The Burris scope is what I use,7X, no problems ,as it is a pistol scope ;the eye relief is about 18" or so. Remember, pistol scopes are to be used held farther out than a rifle scope.I think all pistol scopes hold up as they are usually ment to be used on recoiling pistols.
A cheaper pistol scope that can work is the Ncstar 2-7x 32,fact is it is a great pistol scope at its' price....I got mine for $70 years go_Oh no the price may have doubled:eek:

The Burris scope is holding up well. The reticle leaves a lot to be desired. There are no mildots. Only a set of simple hash marks on the bottom verticle reticle post. There is very little recoil impulse with this setup. The eye box can be a little fickle. I usually run it at 6x.

There is no other pistol scope on the market so take it or leave it.

Here is a shot string with the 10.3's. Not the prettiest but I am a n00b with my new chrony.

That's a nice shot string and a good looking pistol!

Seems to me the AR FT pistol is pretty much a clone of the now discontinued Crosman 1720T but with Benjamin Marauder logos and a regulator?

Finding a used 1720T is difficult so the AR is a logical alternative.

My 1720T shoots everything well but likes the AA 10.3's best!
With Steve Corcoran stock and scope for benchrest.

With Tow West KOA stock and red dot for offhand.

That is a nice lookin' rig! The Prod looks a lot better in wood.

I ordered another sleeve of the 10.3's last night, never hurts. It is a great .177 pellet.

I have no idea why Crosman would discontinue the cash cow called the 1720t. Airgun Revisions took advantage of Crosman's foolishness and cranked it up to 11. Get 'em while they are hot.

Nice chrono data! Your string shows solid consistency - only ~10 FPS spread across 30 shots is impressive for a pistol setup. The Burns scope seems to be doing its job despite the basic reticle. Those 10.3gr pellets are clearly working well for you. Keep enjoying that tuned rig!
