Maven scopes

I’m currently waiting on a 6” parallax wheel so I can finish my setup and ranging tests. Hopefully within the next few weeks.
Since I’m still waiting on my wheel I got curious what the word “maven” meant
definition =
expert or connoiseur

@cavedweller - that exact scope (Maven RS1.2) has been extensively tested and reviewed over on the Rokslide forum. It passed every drop test and held zero (very few scopes do - nightforce and SWFA are a few others that have passed), and the reticle is a favorite for western elk hunting. The reticle is one of the best I’ve seen. It’s a ffp scope that is actually useable for the full range of magnification. I don’t own it but a buddy does and I’ve looked through it. Let me see if I can link you to a torture test review.

Thank you.. I’m specifically evaluating the SFP RS5 4-24x50 for field target applications

I’ve had the RS.1 for over 3 years and it has been a great scope. Clear glass and the parallax works well for HFT (JD made a wheel for me). Wonderful hunting scope. It is used a lot.
My 6" magnetic parallax wheel arrived and is installed so, this weekend is the setup, and wheel calibration so i can see how it performs on a 63 lane course with various types of targets including my nemesis the dark targets. I'll report back in on how i like it for HFT and or EFT.

Meanwhile, because i need a range finder for EFT, i decided i REALLY like this particular range finder: https://mavenbuilt.com/collections/rangefinders/products/rf-1-5-4500

Well my summary of the Maven RS 5 will be very short… it’s a great scope actually pretty awesome BUT for field target it doesn't range as well as my Sightron‘s or Athlons but it might just be the perfect scope for my EFT TM1000 pistol since distance is given in EFT pistol. It’s definitely a keeper But not a ranging scope for HFT.

Cavedweller, they have a try before you purchase option. You choose the optic, pay for a demo and use it then return it if you don't like it, keep it or return for a new or different one. I did just that with the binos. They are out of Wyoming. Their high end binos use Abbe-Koenig prisms rather than the standard Schmidt-Pechan, lets more light come thru in a sr8-er line.
I have a set of Maven Bino's love em... I even have their pricey range finder.... like it even more than the bino's... My RS5 is certainly a sexy svelte thing for a scope... but for HFT it just doesn't distinguish distances well at the 1 yard range... I still like this scope like someone likes their favorite hooker. Humor intended. I returned the $1400. amazon purchase and went direct to Maven and using a first responder / military veteran discount i was $300 fatter in the wallet and i added some sexy orange colors to the scopes trim... it is now on my primary EFT pistol a TM1000.

Cool! Yeah, the best way to purchase from Maven is directly thru them! Glad you received a military discount! And it's nice they can do custom color schemes.

Actually cheaper than some of the other glass I seen!!!! BUT Holy crap 🤦🤦 March scopes are insane....yeah probably the best of the best ...no way I can get that!!!
Don 't get wowed by the price. A bunch of them go up for sell often on the centerfire forums. I have several friends who have had various models on multiple guns who have none or 1 now. I have looked through only one that impressed me. On a hot , humid, bright sunny day viewing 6mm bullets holes at 500 yds a lot of guys with various high end scopes could not see holes. Through a friends 8x80 on 80x the picture was ugly., but the target looked like it was 1 foot in front of me. The turn off for me was shipping to Japan for repair which I hear is now up to months as in 3 or more. Looking through the others, they are fine but I don't see the extra price. Some models I have been told by friends have a very critical eyebox, the reason they got rid of them. Not the best of the best.

Let’s start with a reticle choice…
this is the one I have to work with:

Time for an update on the Maven R5 4-24x50 SHR-Mil in second focal plane.
I’ve finally found the perfect home for this very nice scope, my EFT Pistol. My EFT pistol, is a TMX1000 <20 FPE.

This is a second focal plane scope so the SHR-Mil reticle works well at 16x for EFT.
The size, weight, balance in the sticks and overall features work well when using the turrets during EFT.
Since distances are given in EFT pistol, and clicking is allowed, I was more concerned about clarity at 16x out to 55 yards and turrets.
Truly a good choice for EFT pistol events.
