Thats great to hear! You bet. 110 bar and power 8 and 1.77. 18 gr at 930 very good. The South African clan tuned them down. Mine shouts 16/18 gr very well but the 20.83 are fire at 930. 4 mags. On a tube gun. Very air efficient.
oooh i like itEvery year spring time to me is rearrange the range. This year I got a little push from Mother Nature. I went through my pics and pick 1 for each year.
This is 2020 the first target, Center right. A little ruff. View attachment 5583152021 Major digging. The dump truck and excavator were easily my all time favorite toys. Never drove either before I scored them. The changes I did were endless. Had them both for 3 years and sold and miss them. View attachment 5583172021 the range is taking shape. Shoot between the rocks. Frying pans, were noisy. View attachment 558361
2022 busy year on yard. In the fall of 22 I lined the range with 30 tons of rock.
View attachment 5583242023 View attachment 5583252024 I finished my 6 year project on yard, so the range was abandoned. View attachment 558327And this is a month ago. Snow finishing its melt. Notice the maple at the top right. View attachment 558330One week later we had 3 days of freezing rain. That’s the same tree. View attachment 558331Power was dead so I cut off lines. No power 10 days.
It ripped up the range pretty good. That’s Iron wood bowing which I later pulled back with ropes and left tied down. View attachment 558332For the better part of this week I did a major cleanup. And have the sore body to prove it.
A member mentioned cinder blocks and I adopted the idea with I think success. The Maple that fell, I secured it up top and used it to hold 2 poles.
A little gravel to keep it clean when wet.
View attachment 558354This is what I see from my bench. Will make a few small adjustments. I’m looking forward to smacking some targets. View attachment 558355This is 25 yds. to 35 yds. and have a section to the left of this range that can give me 48 yds, which is my next project. Already started. Crow
I missed that you were inquiring about skirtless for a 97.
I do like the skirtless set-up in my TX, but it’s target only and sub-12. Running bronze bearings machined for fit in the comp tube, and set as far apart as possible helps with stability. Having a perfect or near perfectly straight rod is necessary too.
As with any tune, everything needs to be in balance….piston weight, spring rate, port size, stroke and pellets being used. Go too light on the piston, too light on spring, too small on port size or too heavy on pellets and you may see some accuracy robbing bounce. I’ve got mine set up at 90mm stroke and just over 155 grain piston weight including tophat and tuned for 7.87 to 8.44gr range.

It sure looks cool . Would like to get into it, but realize that is not what I am looking for.I missed that you were inquiring about skirtless for a 97.

It sure looks cool, and I may be tempted to get into it, but will not give the results I am looking for. Besides, i don't have access to a decent lathe. Is not only paper punching, but also some power that i want. The skirt around the piston has only the role of guiding the rod to latch, in the HW97. Eliminating that, creates the need of other mod's. Not worth it, so I am out! Will mod a piston even lighter, with skirt, and work around the spring tuning. Thanks for sharing the pic.!I missed that you were inquiring about skirtless for a 97.

Thank you. I will buy and install it to see what will happen.Well it did the usual: bumped up speed significantly. I had tried upping the power to no prevail. After installing the plenum I got way more fpe. Something like 10 to 15 fpe more out of a previously anemic setup. Just enough to smack serious critters.
Increasing regulator pressure does very little after the max efficiency is achieved. Then it pretty much doesn't matter how much you wound the hammer and reg.
When you find that level, adding plenum size usually nets you more energy without touching anything, although one may want to search for all those loose ponies and get the accuracy.
It's been much debated if plenum saves air. What I have interpreted is that when shooting your max power level with a very small plenum, you're wasting a lot and not getting much out of it. So in that sense adding plenum volume will inevitably increase power and conserve air, albeit not to the extent to be regarded as air saving add on.
This is only my take on rather meaningless endeavor years back.
If someone has in depth info, I will stand corrected.
All the best
The Texans top-hat is not spring loaded, you must manually pull the top-hat closed prior to filling a tank that has been depleted. What rob said. Do you know anyone with a tank that could help? Did you ever dry fire the gun? I’m more concerned on why it is leaking from the tophat to begin with.
My gen 1 Regular Airsaber was $230.00 on cleanance..With a external regulator set to 3400 psi and Easton 2219 XX75 22 inch aluminum arrows 405 fps 474 grain with 100 grain point..Its pretty easy with no wind 3-6inch groups at 120 yards... Accuracy cant be improved too much...Also can use regular cheap crossbow targets to stop arrows..I'm a big fan of the air saber actually, and have a single arrow gen 1 figured folks would think 425 450 was too slow .how wrong I was thanx guys
I'm going to degas it and see what I can see about the reg. I've been using gas regulators all my life, never had to take one apart!Yeah yours is not the first one I’ve read about with the reg doing that. Maybe they will replace it or if any manufacturer makes an aftermarket AEA tube reg it would probably fit.
After the fact, I had to modify it a little. The fit was so tight that I could not get it in the hole and the far rail at the same time. It drove me crazy. I finally tapped it almost all the way in, just enough sticking out to find the pin hole. Once I got both, I tapped it home with a drill bit. Works great now.5th question down the list,,, but I double check it atfer I mount it on the rail, they tap down pretty easy
i do that too but the. i have to change zeroIf you desire low power shooting you can simply turn down you're K1, barn safe to fire breathing monster.
That’s good to know thanks! If I could find a gen 1 ETR on discount, I would probably pick it over the Midas. For some reason I didn't find the IQ very good in the Ares BTR 4.5-27. Had 4 all together, 2 of the G1, and 2 of the G2, and ended up selling them.
The ETR's weren't like that though and the IQ was fine. At 30x the IQ was still good.
I will! I had a chance to shoot quite a bit yesterday, but I'll wait as I'm still dialing in on several pellets. And I might eventually try slugs.I am going to get one but I may wait on the .25 caliber. I have the Bullshark in.22 caliber and I am very happy with it. What ever I choose, I will go to Rich at Airgun Revisions. He is a great guy. Please keep us posted on how you tune your rifle.
Some might not know a rat motor is a Chevy big block
Personally since you’re a PB guy also, I would just buy a quality airgun and be happy. BRK Sniper XR mag or Ghost in .25, they are built closer to PB quality. For moderators that actually work, check out a STO Falx with moderate core. Thanks Jay308. I’ve worked with Haji a few times. Great and great service.
@thammer when can I expect my refund?
