KRAFORD & LYPT what’s happening with them

A common problem with small businesses like this is that they make excellent products and may very well take pride in and love what they do. Meanwhile they are poor business people. Everyone wants instant gratification but the best products take time and the customer should understand that. The business though has to understand that clients must be kept up to date in a timely manner. Many don’t.

One more whistle pig down

I was given permission to hunt groundhogs on a golf course that was shut down a few years ago. They were thrilled that I stoped and asked and told me to do whatever it took to clean them up. They told me they would give me free passes when it all opened back up.
So, you can chase golf balls with a pellet gun, SWEET.

Mounting Arca rail to Vet 2

I bought some 10-32 stainless tee nuts from the local Ace Hardware, along with 1-1/2" button-head cap screws. The screws are also stainless, so I used a dab of anti-sieze. Probably overkill, but figured it wouldn't hurt. I could have used 1-5/8" screws but couldn't track any down between Ace & the box stores. I used my drill press and a spade bit to keep things straight. I also added flat washers the stock screws so increase their bearing surface a bit on the wood, along with a lock washer on the forestock screw (only had one metric lock on hand).

The chat system on airgundepot/pyramid websites MIGHT be compromised.

Air Venturi & Pyramid Air share the same physical address in Ohio.
I had a hunch but didn’t get a chance to deep dive on that.

I’m really careful about my info and just a few mins ago I got a scam email that made it directly to my inbox (past spam filters)

The scam email goes back to a personalized gmail account.

Just to be safe, I’ll be changing my email passwords.

I hate scammers!

Air Arms outsourcing production to India

It seems that no matter how clear Claire and AA try to be, people still misunderstand.

I have no insider information whatsoever here, but from all of the public statements alone, the partnership with Precihole is 1) so that Air Arms can import and distribute Precihole rifles and 2) Precihole can produce lower end Air Arms guns so that AA has an option at the entry level price point.

People seem to forget that years ago an Air Arms S400 WAS considered an "entry level" rifle because of the price point it fell into. Decades of inflation later, along with an incredible advance in quality of guns from the Far East, that isn't really the case.

There's also the elephant in the room that the S200 (which the Indian produced X200 will replace) was also NOT made by Air Arms but rather made in the Czech-Republic. Eastern European manufacturing has not always had a solid reputation either, yet that gun is extremely well regarded. I am confident that the X200 will do the same since it has so many features that people have been clamoring for from AA rifles (reversible side lever cocking, a BOTTLE, external hammer spring adjustments, etc.). Why is it a bad thing that Air Arms is bringing a less expensive rifle to market? There are so many threads on this forum that complain about the rising prices in this industry but when a manufacturer actually tries directly address that problem we get threads like this.

There is no evidence whatsoever that Air Arms will outsource any part of production for their existing product line to India. To make that claim is disingenuous.

Looking forward to getting my hands on the Indian produced X200 and taking it to the podium at PA's Gunslynger event at next year's cup.

EDIT: Typo.
I've owned guns from both the Czech Republic and from India and from what I have seen there is a world of difference between the two. Czech guns have always been top notch IMO, and from a standpoint of precision and accuracy I'd actually rate them above guns made in the UK. Indian guns on the other hand I'd rate significantly lower than their British counterparts. Some seem to be of good quality, while others are abysmal.

10m (or any type) Air rifle matches for Adults in the PA/NJ/NY/New England area?

Check with Peter Visconti in NY. He runs the VT Winter Postal League. I see in the league from last year there are PA teams from Albion & two teams in New Holland. plenty in NY, etc. Peter is a great guy and big promoter of the rifle sports. Email him at [email protected]

Daystate's Alpha & Delta Wolf Smart

Had it out for 2 hours today. Good quality all around.
On the factory 13.43g and 15.89g setting - very easy. Just put speed ind and you are ready. Very air effecient too.

My only complain is the lack of factory settings! There should be MANY more options for pellets/slugs.
if I want to shoot a 16g slug I need to go to advanced and adjust hammer (V)/dwelltime with no options for using the software to calculate speed by pressing desired speed.

Come on Daystate.... This is a major issue.
Daystate make a gun that is suppose to shoot slugs and yet they haven`t supplied a program for them...Sounds very british indeed. Thanks for sharing. I am sure Daystate will come about this. Like I`ve said many times Daystate don`t test their guns with the different ammo availble on the marked at the factory. Strange guncompany or just british.

the question of power ?

Was recently running some 34-35 fpe slugs through expansion testing.....and quite surprised by the results.

From shooting prairie dogs and watching the slugs skip through the dirt after going all the way through them, I knew over penetration was occuring. Knowing pdogs are a somewhat "soft" target (think rabbit) I attributed much of that excessive penetration to the nature of these critters.

So, the 34-35fpe slugs had no issues traversing 6-10 inches of water (various bottles) at 92-93 yards and still continuing on and raising dust downrange. I even laid down a couple of 16ounce soda bottles, with the bottoms facing me and full of water, and also at 92-93 yards. Same thing, slug penetrated through the harder plastic of the bottom of the bottles, traversed the water, and neatly punctured the far side and kept going.

I would have surmised that, at 90+ yards downrange, 6-10inches of water would stop a slug that only had 34-35fpe at the muzzle. And I would have been wrong.

Now, to bring it back to this topic, my little .20/18.9gr slugs, at 910fps and 34-35fpe, are 3.23 times LESS powerful than the subsonic rimfire noted in the original post.

And this isn't only a slug concern. I've shot prairie dogs with 19fpe pellets at 60-80 yards and watched the same rock skipping on water effect the pellet has in the dirt as it skips downrange after perforating the pdog.

They're "just" airguns is dangerous ground to be walking, especially as the fpe goes up and up and up as time goes on....
