FX  Don't Quite Understand?

Couldn’t agree more! Once I had a general understanding of the settings and if I moved this or that and what caused “this” to happen with the tune in a basic sense, such as, “why did my velocity go down all of a sudden?”, I was able to get rolling pretty quickly. I definitely got to where feel and sound of the Airgun became a huge part of tuning much like it is for you.
I see my impact as a cross between a science experiment and a musical instrument. Depending on how you intonate and tune the guitar, the lab equipment provides you with different outcomes for the experiment that sound drastically different. Hammer strike, refresh rate, muzzle report, extreme spread, group size. Etc.

1 change at a time is the safest route so you can track cause and effect. Keep meticulous notes so you can always go back that way.

Sorting and weighing pellets for vertical accuracy improvement:

IF you think it's an advantage, then it is one.

Your gun will tell you if its worth it or not.......
OP here; In my case, apparently there is some advantage to sorting...Note...I don't waste targets!!! Correction..I remeasured the distance from muzzle to target and it is 36yds, not 40yds as mentioned in post #1. Same sandbagged bench, 6x scope and my 2012 manufactured Diana 48 with PG4 Vortek Tune. And using the same .177 JSB Diablo Exact 13.43 pellets (not the "Redesigned")

At center is an "original example" of "un-sorted" pellets; a typical 1-1/2" to 1-3/4" vertical spread what I was trying to correct with sorting.
After sorting:
At 9 o'clock is the 11% mentioned.
At 3 o'clock is the 29% mentioned.
At 6 o'clock is the 56% mentioned. Still a small amount of vertical spread, but very tight.
Thanks!

First week of owning a Maverick 30.

Yeah, my son doesn’t like the noise and is still worried about recoil. I think a pcp will let him focus on the fundamentals of breathing and trigger squeeze without flinching, then later on, worry about focusing through the bang. I have a .243 waiting for him but I don’t want him to get gun shy and develop bad habits from the get go. The black tail around here can get bigger a few more years if he isn’t ready.

extra plenum made by Raw

View attachment 570309
I was on the RAW website nosing around and saw that they make a plenum that screw right on to your existing plenum so I ordered it for my .25 raw..
Does anyone have any experience with it or can tell me what to expect..
Thanks ahead of time
Wendell
I was actually looking at them on their site the other day. Is this the same product you all are discussing?

Looking for an Airgun Collector

Hello. I hope this isn't breaking any rules. I see that there is a Classified Forum, but I don't have the time or knowledge currently to try to sell individual airguns. I need to sell around 80 airguns. Most of them are antique, and I know enough to know some of them are quite valuable. I'm looking for someone who might be interested in buying part or all of this collection. It would have to be someone from the Pacific Northwest, as I also don't have the time to pack and ship that many guns. We could and probably should do any exchange with law enforcement present, just to be sure everyone is on the up-and-up. I am starting to catalog and value these airguns now. If you are interested or can point me in the direction of individuals or entities that might be interested, please let me know.
You can not sell or advertise on AGN until you meet the requirements - please review the rules

Hard Cast in .357 big bore

You bring me to another good point. By the time you're equipped to do everything you need, what have you spent? What is your time worth? I realized this and stopped casting 355 and just bought bulk powder coated stuff. Not for an airgun tho tbf.

It's like my whim to hot rod a notos I don't own yet, by the time I'm done I'm most of the way to a gun that came the way I wanted. I love the adventure and the process more than shooting tho. Problem solving is my joy. If that rings true for somebody else, by all means chase that project. I won't talk you out of it.
For my .510 Texan slugs are .50 to $1.00 a piece..Owww..I took 200 lbs of horded wheel weights and turn them into powder coated slugs that shoot targets and critters equally well..I have shot 300 lbs of lead through my .510 Texan at 450 grains at piece mostly..For my .22 cal condor i cast 39 grain .225 powder coated spire points . I have to buy pure lead for it at a wopping $1.25a pound...I could not afford to shoot my Airforce PCP on my budget if i didnt cast....22 cal slugs for airguns are $15.00 to $20.00 a hundred...Too much for me

AEA  Plinking,,,,,,,with a big bore

I keep seeing a 500cc tank on the classifieds. Easy swap.
Yeah, I've seen it advertised too, but I just hate adding the extra weight. When I got it, I was looking for a gun that was fairly light to carry around. The actual weight of the gun started out almost a pound heavier than the advertised 5.2#, but by only adding a lightweight Leupold scope and rings, it still weighs just under 7#. I can live with the 3 shot string, but it would be nice to have a few more like yours.

Other  What break action pistol/handgun

Available in Canada, trying not to ship anything across the border these days,
and has enough knocking power let say up to 10 M, .22 cal comes to mind first.
I had a PP750 earlier and now regret trading it.
I want to free up my de-tuned L2 from a property damage protection asap.
Check out the venerable Marauder pistol. Ticks a lot of boxes and easy to fill.

Vultures snack time

Black Vulture "Open Season". Really o_O?
Yes, All you need is to sign up for a free permit to shoot black headed vultures. No limit or season. They claim they have become too aggressive and are killing calves and costing ranchers alot of money. It was on the news and is still in the magazine I get from my electric company every month. You get the permits through the USDA. Mark

Take Aim .1775 slugs

They shot outstanding at distance. fat grey @ 115yrds, .082bc were the numbers i got. Alt 1132', 732.2 mmHg Barometer, 69% humidity at 85.5 deg F.

Dialed 4.8 put the dot on her the upper right corner of her shoulder. Pop. the hole couldn't have been more perfectly on the dot. Heart/lung punch, knocked off the tree, DRT on retrieval.

Where they were aimed, they hit exactly. NO flyers, perfect.

GX CS4-I question(s)

I have experienced a Cpl shutdowns with mine. Mine seemed to all be resistance related. If I open the valve on my scba too fast, even if the gx pressure is above the scba when I open the valve it will shut off the compressor. I built a one way valve inline so I could just open my scba valve up, start the gx and the one way valve would open when pressures equalized. It worked fine once and the the next time shut the compressor down when that one way opened up. Trash canned that valve and now just open manually slowly and it works fine. The auto shut off on these things is very sensitive/finicky in my experience.
Soon, car manufacturers will follow suit by sending warrabnty parts and expecting

Rumor has it that car manufacturers from that country have the same type of warranty
If the car breaks, they send you free parts for DYI repairs
Only up to 500,000 miles or 3 months though.

just my 0.14 Renminbi
Edward
Mystery solved and very easy to deal with GX. They sent the new board, swapped it out (and rotated radiator while I had it open), no more random poop offs. Suggestion to reach out to them if you have this problem, easy fix.

Top 5 Features of the Alpha Wolf Safari

Can’t beat that at all. Ridunkulously priced in the U.S. with muuuuch below release value of new for used. 3700 dollars new I think and a of a has a used one for like 2100. Big loss.
Its because Krale stops selling Daystate and Brocock, so great discount on these guns and accessories.

AEA  AEA Challenger barrel cut/re crown

Having very successfully cut and re-crowned about a half-dozen airgun barrels that came out at least as accurate (or more-so) than before chopping, of course the cut barrel Challenger barrel looked like the hack-sawed mess it was before I ground it square on a sander, polished the end of the muzzle, and re-crowned it. Now it looks professional, like all my previous barrel chops.

After posting my reply above I got the Challenger out to revisit, after several months of neglect due to higher priorities. Removed the shroud and baffles, inserted a spring between 2 baffles, re-assembled, charged and shot several groups at 50 yards in gusty crosswinds with 18.1 grain FX pellets at 1053 FPS/44.6 FPE that I've tuned the rifle for. Apparently the spring/baffle trick worked, as she was getting consistent 1" five-shot groups in those gusty winds.

BTW, I've also fabricated a sear-engagement adjuster, to get the trigger down to a crisp, 2 pound break.

That sear-engagement is really ingenious! And the spring trick too. One inch at 50 yds. in gusty winds seems good to me. You probably fixed the barrel and did'nt realize it until today 😉 jk. Should try in good conditions.

In my bullpup, I removed the baffles and installed a Ronin. Accuracy improved after that. Polished barrel. I ordered a barrel band and I plan to do some trigger work and set it to about two pounds also. This afternoon I tried NSA 36.2 grain slugs and FX 25.4 pellets and got 1/2" ctc groups at 35 yards, with moderate wind. AA Diablos 25.4 did'nt group. Neither JSB's 33.95. There are simply too many pellets/slugs to try...I think I am not going that route for now. My ultimate goal is to achieve moa groups at 50 yds., consistently. The cut/re crown project would be my last attempt at it. Do you have pics of your cut/re crown methods and tools?
