Projectile Penetration Test - .30 FX Hybrids, Zan, NSA, Daystate Howler, JSB Hades, Predator Polymags WARNING: Unprocessed Carcass Shot

.I wish he had included a H&N slug. I shoot the 21 grain from my 22 caliber Caiman X and at impact velocity pretty close to 900 fps they expand nicely - but penetrate significantly less than a non-expanding pellet.

Those goats seem roughly the size of coyotes.

Air Venturi  Avenge X Fill Nipple Issue

Something is definitely broken. The check valve screw is super loose in the cap, I don't see how it would possibly seal. So I need a check valve, possibly a fill probe and maybe an end cap.
I sat on hold with Air Venturi for 10 minutes while I found the parts on PA, so I just hung up and ordered a new probe, check valve and end cap.

Beeman  First Shot Out Of Beeman QB Chief

Hello, play around alittle more with different types and brands of Pellets. I have a QB78 that will stack shots at 10 meters with the right pellets. I have found that JSB Exact Jumbo RS 13.43 gr. works the best in my gun. Have tried others and get quarter size groups Don't give on trying to find what it likes.

Multi-pump hunting

So I have this old broken crosman legacy 1000 which is just a updated 2100 pumper. I took out the pump tube and piston assembly today, got to tinkering with it and figured out how to put a factory size 1377 valve into it. Had to drill a relocated exhaust port hole and the hole for the front grip screw and still need to drill the front tiny 4-40 breech screw and thread it. My next task is how to shorten the factory piston to fit now that the slightly longer 1377 valve is in the gun. Would it be easier to figure out how long it has to be to bottom out against the front of the valve and drill a new pivot pin hole in the pump lever and cut off the excess so it will go back into the end of the piston without binding? I'm looking for suggestions. Will moving the pivot hole make the gun harder or easier to pump? I can't wrap my math around that. I'm including pics, in one I tried to lay the piston beside the pump tube so you can see how much it needs to be shortened for it to fit. The other pic shows where and or how I may shorten the lever.View attachment 551832View attachment 551833
Thx
Ray
You ever get this build going. You may need to cut the piston and make it adjustable. Also, the old brass valves need their cone shaved down by about .030 because the cone will hit the cup before it's fully compressed reducing the pressure. I did this on my laithe but can be done by hand if needed. That would make a nice compact pumper hunting rig.

Zbroia  Bottle conversion

Gulp, I feel for you man. It happens. Just sorry that it had to be this gun.

So much aluminum in PCPs. I get why this is so, but anything threaded will be relatively delicate. The alternatives will probably result in either a steel boat anchor or will be plastic, I mean polymers. Titanium?

Out of curiosity & education, was the cause crossed threads putting it back on? Or was that the result of removal w the pressure?
I believe the problem started with removing under pressure. My theory, the aluminum threads "stretched" when removed. A few times of remove/replace eventually caused results. I should note - tube was a little loose when I was threading it back on. Should have stopped at that point. Lesson learned.

Rattler 357 reg increasing on it's own?

A gradual upward migration is usually caused by wear on the regulator’s valve seat (the small end of the piston).

A more sudden increase may be the result of a small bit of debris pinched into the valve seat.

If it were to continue climbing and reach reservoir pressure, it’s probably the seal on the pressure adjustment screw.
Holding at 160 which is what AOA said is the recommended setting.

Airforce  AIRFORCE Texan tired of tank loosening!!!

you can put some teflon tape around the valve threads and if that works you might order a new nut it could be out of spec but if you hold the gun tight and push down hard with your cheek I would definately fill the gap between the stock and bottle . Mad dog himself told me to do that if I had a problem.

Skout Airguns Tech Tuesday - HP Reg Update

Is it better to shoot the gun with a higher or lower dwell setting? mine shoots the 22.07 good at 19 & 25.
Hey Dewy
If you are experiencing the same accuracy at both dwell settings, go for the better efficiency with the lower setting of 19

HW/Weihrauch  Weihrauch comb fix.

Sorry to hear that. You might be a candidate for eye surgery. A few people here have had that don't with remarkable results.

I'm contemplating lasic myself. It's annoying to shoot with glasses so I often adjust the scopes to my bare eye. It still sucks because it seems like everytime I pick up a rifle the scope is never left where I need it at the moment. Plus without glasses I can't work on the rifle as I shoot.

Getting old sucks. Its better than not getting old.

Be well,
Ron
I just had my left eye lens replaced on the 3rd and the right on the 13th to fix cataracts and a slight astigmatism. Boy the world is a lot brighter and my distance vision is noticeably clearer too. I still can't see open sights too well, but I've been dealing with that for a few years now. I still need reading glasses and for working on things up close, but I'm happy so far. I do have a slight "blinder" on the edges of my vision, but they say that will go away over the next few weeks. I never thought I'd think of myself as old, but I guess I'm there! :)

RAW Rapid  Simply RAW (Mini)

What suppressor are you using? Are you happy with it's effectiveness?
It’s a DFL Ryu. It’s very sleek & compact and the QD is a nice touch. It’s one of the smallest mods made so it’s not “mouse fart” quiet, but it gets the job done in my backyard.

Gamo  Gamo NP to spring conversion kit

All worked out. Like the way it shoots with spring. The spring guide and top hat are guided as well.
In the pic. the guides are steel, but made them from delrin as well. With this lighter piston shoots smooth 820 fps with Premier 14.3 pellets, and fairly accurate. Still need to try with factory piston, and with extended top hat. Maybe even a slightly longer spring. Used a 260 mm long, and have about 1' compressed at assembly. May try longer top hat or 270 mm spring. Is nice that Vortec cuts and grinds the spring ends to size.

.25 JSB 33.95 MK II fps preference?

Yeah, I keep reading that too, and have bought them in .22 and .30 caliber, and my guns still shoot better with JSB. Unfortunately, I was so convinced that they were obviously better, by everyone, that I bought a lot on blind faith. Don't do that, until you try them.
Definitely good advice. They may not be the best for every individual gun out there. My daystate shoots the jts a little better. My fx shoots the jts and jsb heavies pretty much equal. I like the jts as they just look more uniform and better made.

OP’s question. Like stated earlier it is best to test at various speeds from say 850-950 to find the ultimate best for your barrel. I have never done that. I have always run them right around 900 and they are well beyond accurate enough for my needs and abilities.

Events  Mass Rifle Clean up Party! 1pm-4 or 5

This Sunday, March 23 we will be opening up the woods course for this months match. Any and all help would be appreciated. The majority of the work will include clearing the walking path, and shooting lanes of downed branches and some preventative cutting. We will also be repairing and repainting the targets. Depending on the size of our crew we will order pizza's, or go to the 9's after the work. We will start at 1pm, and work for 3-4 hours, depending on everyone's schedule. massrifle.com for directions.

USARB Indoor Springer Record

Well earned and deserved by a great guy and great shooter. Al convinced me to shoot my Diana 75 benchrest and we have since traded some equipment and he included some of his secrets. The Diana 75 is a great gun for this competition as it has no recoil and easy to cock, besides being extremely accurate. OBTW Al is in his 80s. Sherwood (near Steubenville, OH) is a great club and their winter indoor benchrest series is great. So are their field target matches.

eBay restrictions on California buyers - I’ve had enough!

I'm from MA. I don't know of any areas that outlaws them because they are legal in the state and you can get them when of legal age. Their usage; however, is different. Some towns ban any discharge even from airsoft. That's when you just have to join a range. I have all the legal licenses and Amazon won't ship them and that's silly, especially a 15 minute drive to New Hampshire and you can get any air stuff without any questions.
Marlboro has a ban on possessing air guns. Years ago teenagers were doing a lot of damage so the town banned the sale of and posse them. That is the reason New England Airguns is in Hudson the next town over . Amazon won’t ship because there are other towns with restrictions as well.
