Seeking super sharp glass

The most pleasing IQ I've seen is my friend's Swarovski X5i 5-25x56, it's SFP, and a tank of scope but the 3-18 version is a little shorter. I think it has 50Y parallax though.

For FFP is my March Genesis 4-40 which is a ELR scope and exterior adjustment so it's always optically centered.

The fixed power Sightron target scopes are really good.

I imagine the other highest end SFP mid power variable Swarovski, S&B, Leica, and Zeiss hunting scopes are all exceptional. These usually have plain hunting reticles and some don't focus close. Sometime later this year S&B is supposed to come out with a semi compact and lightweight FFP 3-18x44 with a thicker tree reticle which has the most interest to me for 2025. It's going to be $4000+ probably, and I don't want to spend that much, but it should be a cool scope.

FFP on a budget goes to the Meopta Optika 6 IMO. It's very close to my S&B PMII 5-25.

Umarex  Zelos pics ..

i figured many took the notos and modded it to 30 32 fpe longer barrel and more shot capacity * bottles and z blocks

it made more sense to me to take the zelos and have a compact made for less than a full mod and barrel notos.
I made my notos have a crazy shot count. Power was enough to take down iguanas and it was accurate enough shooting dimed sized groups at 50yds with crosmans. I hated the trigger so I got rid of it.

Yong Heng piston rings

Still subzero at my place and last night was snowing, but can't wait to start with my season.

Today out of boredom I pulled out one of my tanks I think it is below 250 bars, let me refill if any actions come up soon in the backyard :) .

And my YH didn't want to build up a pressure. Again ... It was sitting since about mid Sep, I was away for three months to EU trips and got back home when winter was already on the go.

The first stage steel tubes cold on touch, the second stage is burning. Aaaha...
Disassembled the YH first and second stage, I am noticing oil in cylinder walls, pulled out the piston assembly, and the first stage piston rings are shiny... gone...the second stage rings look OK.

I just checked my aliexpress purchase history, last time I ordered a full cylinder + piston all in a kit, in March last year. Prior that somewhere in 2021. I think it is not so bad for total of 64 hrs. Also, may be a good entertainment tinkering with.
In my crate I have two (didn't throw them out) full cylinder+piston assemblies, all worn the piston rings. I think both rings, the lower lubing and the two upper compression rings the edges shiny.

Anybody come up with a source for first stage piston rings only? I may order a full bag of those.

I don't mind buying the piston+crank kit for $20, or maybe two, but when I know the rings goes first.....

Also, I trust myself most how to mount rings on pistons ;)

How to Use a Corbin S Press - A Thread Geared Toward Beginners

thanks for your help Ezana4CE I am wanting to make .357 slugs for impact M4 , I shoot 93 grain NSA slugs but got really interested when I was reading about the cross in the ogive slug it would be good to find out more on how to make these I have put an order into Corbin and spoke with Kelly he could'nt have been more helpful. All the talk about slug shapes gives you a lot to think about but that's the fun hope I make the right choice. Kind regards Mike

FX  Wildcat mk3 wth is this screw

G
Thanks mike, the regulator screw (i have been schooled a little😁) so now im struggling with crankin the pressure to 130 from 120. Tuff bein an inveterate tinkerer with no talent… hah. Fun tho
Got yah.
Be sure to dump all of the pressure, before you "lower" the pressure.

I also lower mine in most cases. I normally use 95 to 100 Bar. I adjust my guns to shoot 800fps to 825fps .

Introducing the Daystate Black Wolf!

It can become very frustrating, making decisions about stocks , accessories, set ups, and performance when you live out and what I would call “the sticks“ which is where myself and my fellow geezer plinkers find ourselves. No place to go to put your hands and eyes on something before you make the purchase. I guess like many we rely on reviews ,reports and feedback like you provided to give us any kind of guidance. This form has a very broad range of airgunners with diverse interests . Which is one of the great things about being a member. I imagine there are many in the same financial condition I find myself ,which is I can afford to buy something like that but only once .And the high end PCP market is getting more and more crowded and competitive .The technology and performance has just exploded over the past several years.
I don’t think my wife’s gonna believe I won another air gun in a poker game, or as a door prize at a gun club meeting.Guess I’m just one luck guy 😉😉
Fellow NYer here. Totally agree, there’s no place to FEEL an airgun unless we’re down in the sub $200 range. Not disparaging these guns though and very glad Tractor Supply had my first varmint killer when needed. Seems it was too good for me. I figured if I’m impressed with this ( Umarex Synergis) I’ll see what these pcp’s are. It started an addiction . It’s all bought online though.
Posted about a FX drs with a grade 2 stock that on dealers websites made me drool. When I opened the case there was
NO gasp at its beauty. It was ok but not ( to me ) worth around $300 more. Would’ve been nice to see first.

That's awesome! I love compact builds! I prefer higher power, but if it's compact enough I'm okay with lower to normal power. He sure does great work!

AEA  aea challenger

I have bullpup .457 and I can say it is the best thing I ever had, even compared with low caliber firearms. It is consistent, putting lead into 1" at 50 yards consistently. See by yourself:

The only think I unfortunately fount is that you have to be careful when disassembling / assembling.
I have broken the trigger sear because of pure lack of attention. Also, it is kind of hard to have spare parts available.

Thanks;
Hey Terry, I was finally able to get out and shoot the new 24" Challenger .357 Standard I got from you a couple of weeks ago. I wasn't able to get any 1" groups, but other than the H&N Grizzlys, the other slugs I tried shot pretty good. At 50 yards the Lee 125's (actually 129 gr) that I sized both .356 and .357 had 5 shot groups of 2 3/8"....not too great, but I may get those smaller as I get used to the trigger. The 110 gr Zan's did much better at about 1 3/4" and the FX Hybrids did really well at 1 3/8". I'm guessing I can get those to shoot better too. I've never compared my chrony to any others, so it may be a bit off, but I got a high of 243.0 fpe for the Lee 125 sized at .356 and a low 5th shot at 189.3 fpe for the Lee 125 sized at .357. For the Lee's the average 5 shot energy was 217.0 fpe. I was really surprised at the FX Hybrids. I only shot the one 5 shot group, but they had a high of 185.4 fpe and a low of 162.4 for an average of 174.0 fpe. I think I'm going to like this gun! I was also really surprised at how poor the H&N Grizzlys shot. I didn't even try to measure the "group", but you can see how scattered they are in the picture. I just got an NOE 359-115-HP mold yesterday, so I need to get some more casting and shooting done with those. Thanks for the rifle!
