Sefic carbon air tank inside damage

I bought an Acecare 9L CE tank a few years ago and I am very happy with it. When new, I carefully inspected the interior of the tank and it was pristine - as one would expect on a brand new tank. I would not hesitate to recommend them, based on my experience (sample size of one, but 100% positive).

Are glass optics becoming obsolete?

You can get away with lower resolution provided the technology is smart-enough to "highlight" your target in a sufficient-way to get hits. Imagine a grayscale image with only rat-like objects lit-up in red, and any potential life-forms that aren't rats lit-up in green. For pesting that'd be lovely.

IMO a 1280x1280 resolution suffices for most things provided there's good image-processing in the background and the lighting isn't hard on your eyes. Perhaps more important than the resolution would be to have an over 60Hz refresh-rate. Ideally around 120Hz.

That said, I don't think pure-digital is the way of the future. It'll be hybrid scopes where you can any combination of direct optics and any-spectrum overlays.
Competitive shooters would never accept degradation of resolution from glass. As a result the shooters that follow what the competition shooters use will also never accept that.

N/A  Damage from slug energy

Hi, I'm new over here, any pellets suggestion for iguanas? Minimal pass through is key. I do not have the rifle yet, still deciding between the Notos and the Beeman Commodore 13625.

Thanks in advance.
Good afternoon and welcome! The no toes does not make enough power to warrant using slugs, is the other one a 177 or a 22?

Best grease for GX CS2 et al gear box

In my quest to find the best grease for my CS2 gearbox, here are pics of 30 more days of use with the Chevron Open Gear Grease. This stuff looks like the cat's meow for this application. Every tooth is covered with grease and I only had to use a minimal amount of grease. The added benefit is the centrifugal force causes the grease to slowly be thrown to the outside of the large gear and into the teeth. This is, by far, the best outcome of grease I've tried and I'm sticking with it. The gears show NO more wear marks and look fantastic. I believe this will promote a long life for these gears.

Also, as a test, I installed thermocouples on the low pressure head and high pressure output block. No surprise the output was the hottest. After the compressor had been running for approx 5 minutes, the output temp stabilized at right about 125F, for the remainder of the fill which was ony about 7 minutes. This is a pretty safe temp, I would imagine, and should not cause any harmful effects to the compressor.

''Member Classifieds" section suggestion.... what is the group thought?

The primary purpose of this site is the exchange of information regarding pneumatically propelled pellets or slugs and the items that launch them. The sales part is a pimple on a whales ass in the overall purpose of the site. It is there as a courtesy to the members. It is fine just the way it is.
Yes, but there is a significant base whose primary usage is the classifieds. They deserve as much attention as the general user.

Field Target is an arms race.

The groupings overall diameter at 55 yards IS what matters when comparing in this particular way to other platforms
A particular KZ size is not necessary to see how tight or how loose any particular gun can group at a specific distance, which in this case is the Field Target max range of 55 yards.
Many guns groupings begin to open up after 30 plus yards...
When the 55 yard targets are brought in and measured, if the group fits within a (X) diameter, then you can assume it is capable of putting (X#) of rounds in a certain size KZ at a certain distance, simple correlation.
The reason for 10 shots is to get a bigger aka better sampling, which may also demonstrate that some guns in a certain price range may produce more flyers than others in a more expensive price range.
shooting from a bench and also using clicks rather than just holdovers will take more human error out of the equation so we can have a better baseline... obviously we can't control all the factors but this is pretty straight forward.
The number of shots at <2 moa (10/60) vs the potentially 4-6/60 at near 3-3.5 moa is probably worth testing is all I'm saying.

A sub 3.5 moa overall gun is ok at 55, and will still not score as well in average with tighter kz sizes.

What Paper Target Did You Shoot Today

The Zelos is the most inconsistent, shot for shot, of the PCP’s I own. It’ll love a pellet for a couple of shots then sail the next few. I’m going to keep messing with it, starting with getting more air capacity so I can mess with reg and hammer tension a bit without having to pause for refills.

Top row for the Zelos was JSB Kings in 25.39, second row was JSB Kings in 33.95.
Top row for the Wildcat was AEA 25.39, second row JSB Kings 33.95
First three, left to right, for the Crown were JSB Kings 33.95, next two were AEA 25.39

With the exception of the Wildcat, most are 4-5 round groups. Target #2 for the Wildcat were 2 shots, target #9 for the Zelos was 3 shots.

LPVO??

I've had good success with the Discovery 2-12x24, although I'd call that an MPVO. There's an extensive thread on it here. https://www.airgunnation.com/threads/discovery-knocked-it-out-of-the-park-with-this-model.1331853/

I only used it for a very specific format of competition that required sub 10 yard parallax and a few 50 yard groups. It can definitely work at longer ranges in a pinch, but it really shines for closer range work.

N/A  Damage from slug energy

That depends on what your hunting, going for hogs, raccons, or armadillos? Get a slug that can penetrate deep enough without fragmenting or expanding so quickly.

Going for squirrels, birds, iguanas? Go for a slug with a larger cavity, softer lead and thinner hp walls to expand quickly upon entry.

eBay restrictions on California buyers - I’ve had enough!

I use Craigslist to sell air rifles. The problem with ebay is fraud in which case you are on your own and the guarantees do not actually apply.

When I lived in Texas there were traffic accidents that ended as gun fights. Perfectly legal to have a loaded handgun in the glove box. Also legal to drive around with an open beer or hard liquor bottle so long as there is a passenger in the vehicle. I do not see that as being good for anyone.

N/A  Webley Hurricane

Tempest was a hard pistol to shoot accurately . Hitting a can or similar target was fairly easy @ 10 / 20 yards. defiantly not a bullseye gun for me .
This Hurricane tuned and polished by David Slade (his gun ) is still that same short slam of a cycle , but still a smoother experience . Now if i can find a muscle bound 16 year old to cock it 40 times in a row for me to shoot this morning 😁😁😁

BTW shooting a can in half is very difficult ! you need to shoot all those thread like strings of metal to get the bottom of the can to cleanly fall to the ground , and the can is hanging on a piece of wire so it swings around .
My best is 22 rounds to cut a can in half. Mushroom size can 30 yds. Did it with a HW90 .20. I was lucky. Next to that was 29 rounds. Crow

Springer vs pcp

Coyotes are my pest control as their diet is one of gophers, moles, and field mice. Killing a coyote would be very foolish. When I catch pocket gophers in my traps I leave them out for the coyotes as a treat.

With my .25 PCP rifle I have killed wild turkeys and a doe and a few cats that have been on my property. A Hill pump was replaced with a $300 electric compressor that I bought on Amazon. The $300 electric pump has replaced the Hill which has sat in a closet for the past two years.

RTI  RTI Transfer Port Screw - What Material?

RTI sent me some of the M7 grub screws, they were steel.

Easy to drill out, file, manipulate etc.
Got a selection of transfer ports from 1.6 mm to 3 mm.

I also have a brass M7 TP, delivered will my P1. So RTI use brass and steel.

Interesting testing, 😉. Lately I'm mainly using a 3 mm TP. .177 slugs.
Thx for the feedback. That's pretty much what I was planning on doing. Vary the TP diameter in steps of 0.5mm. The one I have that came with my latest P1, was 1mm to start. I relieved it to 1.24mm but figure it would be better to just make a "set" to have.

Not sure if my thinking is right, but it seems that having something in the TP screw hole would be better than just the threads being bare and disturbing the air flow through the port.

Also was thinking there might be an advantage if the port shape was like "/_\" to create a venturi effect. I would think that the forcing effect of the narrowing port would increase the speed of the air and possibly make for more efficient use with less volume.

Overthinking probably.

Shooting Airgun in residential neighbourhood

Check the local ordinance and the specifics in terms of use as with "hunting". In my area the "hunting" needs to be done during the permitted months of the year as with wild turkeys. I have a very quiet Benjamin Marauder and my Karma SLS with a DonnyFL moderator makes even less noise.

I have a range of sorts at the back of my house and have a 1/4" steel backstop covered with a 1" thick piece of rubber for my targets. When going after critters I avoid doing so when my neighbors are outside.
