''Member Classifieds" section suggestion.... what is the group thought?

So when visiting the classified section I notice that around 80% of the ads are for accesories and not an actual airgun, even though an airgun name is in the ad. Seems cluttered and like I am sifting through a thrift store for an actual thing.

Would it make more sense to have two classified categories? One for actual guns and one for actual accessories? It seems like the big ticket items are being pushed out of view fairly quickly for the same accessory items repeatedly being listed.

Imagine all the airguns in one list... that would be magnificent! I would much rather walk down the accesory asile for accessories and the airgun asile for airguns rather than sift through one big pile.

What say you?

So I gave the filter a try. It would seem you cannot filter just air guns only. You have to pick one of 22 categories. And you can only pick one category. There are four categories for "airguns".

PCP rifle
PCP pistol
Traditional rifle
Traditional pistol

To do just a search for air guns, I would have to do 4 separate searches. Four separate categories. It would be wonderful if you could pick more than one category, but I was unable to do so.

In addition the results are not chronological, regardless of the ascending or descending option.

Sometimes simple is easy.

Or just click on white descriptor like "PCP Rifle" and only those tags will show.

The primary purpose of this site is the exchange of information regarding pneumatically propelled pellets or slugs and the items that launch them. The sales part is a pimple on a whales ass in the overall purpose of the site. It is there as a courtesy to the members. It is fine just the way it is.

Yes, but there is a significant base whose primary usage is the classifieds. They deserve as much attention as the general user.

No they don't. They need to monitor airguns.net or one of the many other sales only sites. JMHO no distain on differing opinions.

So, because they don't interact or use the site as you do they need to go somewhere else.

Lucky for people like that you do not make the rules.

I am sure the Admins are fine as long as they get eyeballs and clicks on the advertisements.

I've been a member for a while and I can say that the classifieds have gotten a good bit more cluttered than how it used to be, but I think that is because of the member growth and subsequent increase in listings. But the owner of the site does use the classifieds to buy an sell so having feedback on ideas for improvement is probably not a terrible thing. I would also wager that if the site is being run with revenue in mind, the owner would like more traffic and if making a few changes to one forum would do that, why not? We didn't always have all the different forums, and every time there was a change, people complained. One of the main and original draws of the site is the Classifieds, because at the time you could actually be familiar with sellers and quickly speak with others to confirm users were cool to deal with. There were discussions on users and vetting and ideas were thrown around. That eventually morphed into the feedback system which got applied site and member wide. So the Classifieds are important enough to make change that effects how the entire site works. That said, I don't thing that pinning "Don't like it, just go somewhere else" to the top would be the optimal route.
My idea would be to break the Classifieds into 4 sections: New, Accessories, Guns, Let's Make a Deal. Items would only remain in the New section for some decided on time, few days or a week maybe, then get moved to Accessories or Guns. Listings in those 2 could be there for another set amount of time, maybe a month, and then get moved to the Let's Make a Deal section where offers could be posted and rejected in the listing or maybe an option for bidding. Something different to get movement. Users could manually move from Accessories or Guns to Let's Make a Deal early if they wanted, but not back out. This would probably upset the few people that use the classifieds to sell for their business, but I think those users are abusing the classifieds. I want to support hustles and small business, but I don't think that's the place for it. Lol maybe one more forum just for those.
