Uragan 2 .30 review

I just saw the review of the uragan 2 .30 in carbon fiber.. what a beauty of a gun ... but the reviewer man that guy really sucks .. all you hear is I have not tune the gun this is a review therefore the gun is not turned to their best .. the gun gives the show of a lifetime with a standard div- of 1 .. an he still managed to do a awful review showing the wrong pellets.. I he had taken the time to see what worked before he made that review..it would had been way different ending.. I really don't know why the same dealer send him a gun to review , again

Having fun trying to improve my shooting

So I finally moved to a place where I can shoot outdoors. I am really excited to get a chance to develop my own shooting skills and to more meaningfully work on finding the perfect projectiles and tunes for my guns.

I’ve been doing some off hand shooting with a 9 mm Rex P using iron peep sights. Took me a while to get it set up… I started at what seemed like a reasonable distance, about 35 m with a large target (8” gong)

At that range, the front post on the peep sight basically covers most of the gong and the post is a little blurry with my eyesight (too close to my eyes) so to some degree it’s hard to tell when to pull the trigger. A very different feeling from putting the center of a crosshair on the center of a bull’s-eye.

I’ve been able to get the gun zeroed enough to consistently hit the gong so I sketched a smaller target (traced electrical tape roll) and shot nine .360 round balls at it. The first shot was dead on by freak chance, and the photo shows where the following shots landed.

Between my unsteadiness, poor vision, lack of practice and the somewhat blurry looking front post, I was surprised the shots weren’t more scattered. This is probably an awful group, but it’s a step up for me. Looking forward to trying to improve on this. I mean issue is that “aiming for the center” is weird when the front sight / post is a bit blurry and larger than the target.

"Edgun Leaky" Rifles DOA Out of the Box

I am a former Marine and familiar with firearms, but new to airguns. I run a pest control business and bought some airguns to dispatch groundhogs and other pests. We gathered what we thought was reliable advice, and purchased three Edgun Leshiy 2 and one Lelya 2 from an outfit called "Edgun West".

Two of the four brand new Edguns arrived DOA, i.e., not holding air at all. Wouldn't take a charge.

This is probably a simple matter of O-rings, but we have no interest in working on these two DOA rifles, and neither does Edgun West. In fact, when I reported the problems to Brian Meckler himself, the response we received was a link to Edgun West's "Terms and Conditions".

I have contacted most of the larger airgun businesses in the U.S., in search of someone who can get the two rifles up and running. Most of the responses have been a read-between-the-lines slam of Edgun West, and they just aren't interested in working on that brand of rifle.

Interested in hearing any advice you may have. Again, we aren't interested in being rifle techs, beyond keeping them clean, filled, and lubricated.

P.S. We subsequently purchased some FX Crown Continuum and Brocock Sniper XR rifles, and our shooters never opt to take the two functioning Edguns on calls.

Offhand accuracy

I've been shooting a bunch with my Matador and the accuracy has been impressive at about 23 yards when resting on a perch (size of my yard). One thing I have noticed, however, is how hard it is to shoot offhand. My best guess is it is the weight and it's balance being toward the barrel since my scope is mounted pretty far forward so I get proper eye relief. Anyone else experience this? When I shot as a kid, air rifles weren't nearly as high quality but also heavy as these so offhand with iron sights was easy.

48 hours with the Ranger XR in 22 cal

Tuesday i received the Ranger XR, minus the grub screw for the trigger blade to keep from moving on the trigger post, but AOA is taking care of me by sending out a grub screw priority mail.

However, I can still use the gun and I have been looking at some shot to shot consistency and how many actual shots I can get fro a charge within the “optimal” shot curve. AOA says up to 20 shots, well yup it is 20 in the rated range from a full charge, maybe 22 before the FPS of the pellets starts to dive.

Pellets I have been toying with between Zoom work meeting today are as follows:
  1. JSB Jumbo Heavy
  2. JSB Hades
  3. H&N 18s
  4. Crossman Premier HP
I have been mostly concerned about shot to shot consistency in FPS for the optimal power band. I have 8-9 yards to use for my endeavor. I mounted a Athlon scope, the one that was on my Ranger XR in 177, which will then move to the Prophet II comes later in the year. Anyways, for now it works great, though yes big for the platform.

I tapped in the pellets so they were snug. I am not factoring which one the gun likes most, i can determine that with 9 yards, this will come Saturday.

Also, my Accushot Atlas bipod showed up, the knock off is now forgotten. Anyone want a free bipod? You only pay shipping PM if interested. (Yes to me I notice a difference).

So here is my findings: Power range hovered in the 15 FPE for the Crossman and 16-17 FPE for the JSB and H&N pellets.

The JSB Jumbo Heavies were the most consistent with STD for 20 3.7 FPS. Hades and 18s 5-6 ish FPS and Crossman a STD 12 FPS. Will this match up on the target grouping Saturday, NO IDEA. I am praying the gun likes the hades because I like using them so much in the field.

The ranger with its new digs. Also, can’t remember but I swear the cocking handle on 22 ranger is longer than the 177 ranger. It is super nice too having the length.

Rekord Trigger Frustration

Hello, I am new to the forum. I recently purchased a Beeman R7 . It has about 500 rounds through it. Most of the time the trigger will have the slight bit of creep before let off but sometimes there is no creep and then it lets off somewhat unexpectedly. I prefer the creep beforehand and I notice when I am shooting groups that if there are a couple of shots in the group without the creep my groups seem to open up, maybe due to the element of surprise. I used to own an R9 built in the early 2000's and I don't recall ever having any issues with it's trigger. Does my R7 have the same trigger in it or has something changed over the years? Or am I possibly expecting too much out of a $400 airgun? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Help. Not sure what to do at this point.

Weihrauch wrote me back and said the HW100BP is still in production however AOA and Krale (Anne) tell me they are not restocking the gun or taking preorders.
I found it in stock at other UK stores but none of them are willing to ship stuff to the US.
Any help on whats going on or how to get one much appreciated.
Thanks

SOLD Daystate Grand Prix .177

This is an amazing rifle and in excellent condition - I just placed 2nd at the Can Nationals.
Fully adjustable velocity, from 500fps to 1,200fps.
The battery was recently replaced, charges to the full 12.6v. I'm the 2nd owner.
The original owner was a Daystate collector and this rifle has been serviced three times to ensure it's functioning as designed. Works flawlessly.
Scope not included. $2,500 Including Shipping in it's original box. More Pictures available upon reqluest.
From Daystate:
The heart of the Grand Prix’s electronic action is based on the latest Capacitor Discharge Technology (CDT), which uses a digital microprocessor to control a solenoid-powered, highly-advanced air valve. Courtesy of Daystate’s Mapped Compensation Technology program (MCT), the rifle’s computer calculates precisely the amount of time and distance the valve needs to open to ensure identical air releases.
This continually regulates the rifle’s power output, from the first shot to the last, eliminating any power curve and ensuring very consistent pellet velocities. An additional MVT program (Mapped Velocity Technology) then analyses the data recorded by the integral chronograph (velocity sensor), making further, infinitesimally small adjustments for even greater consistency and, therefore, accuracy.
An LCD window on the breech provides the shooter with feedback of the rifle’s status, including air pressure, velocity, shot-count and battery voltage - and MVT can easily be user-programmed on the Grand Prix to set it to the exact velocity preferred. The Grand Prix’s technologically-advanced action is backed-up by a stock that’s every bit as state-of-the-art. Made from laminate to eliminate stresses being transferred to the metalwork it cradles, the thumbhole stock has been beautifully crafted with both form and function in mind.
Its ergonomic shape and array of multi-adjustable features bring every conceivable benefit to the Grand Prix shooter, whether faced with a sitting, prone, kneeling or standing shot. Quick adjustments to the cheekpiece and fore-end can be made ‘on the fly’, while a more tailored gun fit can be achieved by way of precise adjustments to the cheek, butt pad and palm rest. A full-length accessory rail under the vented fore-stock also allows further fittings, for a totally bespoke setup and maximum control.
Manufactured in the UK on state-of-the-art, computer-controlled machinery and then hand-assembled and individually tested by skilled airgun technicians at Daystate’s factory in Staffordshire, the Grand Prix is built to the tightest tolerances achievable.
Throughout, every component has been carefully selected to harness the rifle’s awesome potential. Its specially re-enforced bolt-action breech houses a special match-grade Lothar Walther barrel, the accuracy from which is further guaranteed by the Grand Prix’s custom-developed muzzle brake. This deflects turbulent air away from the pellet as it emerges from the choked muzzle to ensure its precise flight to the target. And as you would expect on a rifle capable of such phenomenal accuracy, the Grand Prix boasts a seriously sophisticated match trigger to give the shooter full control over the shot release.
Totally electronic, it offers finely tunable weight and travel adjustments to both stages and is complemented by a multi-position, match-style blade. Computer controlled - electronic firing system. New patented MVT digital regulator for super consistency.
On-board built-in Chronograph to adjust power for optimum performance.
Single shot reinforced breech.
Gary Cane manufactured laminated stock.

Cant believe I'm selling this... but up for sale is my Daystate Huntsman Classic in .22, right hand stock. One of the best looking air rifles to date in my opinion. Super accurate, very consistent with an amazing trigger. I would consider this to be in really good condition with only one mark on the stock as shown in one of the photos. Holds air forever too.

$675 shipped. Paypal accepted.

The "blemishes" on the receiver in some of the photos is just Balistol smudges, I wiped it off half way through taking photos as you can see below. Message if you have any questions, thanks for looking.

Got my Caiman today :)

So first off , this rifle is LOUD haha my huggett atom moderators do absolutely nothing for it. It is backyard friendly for the 30 acres im on but not for mosts backyards.

It is ergonomically more pleasing than my Taipans just simply when it comes down to how it shoulders off hand. The left side cocking is nice as well for the right handed shooter. This rifle will see no rests except bags to sight in and zero. It is currently tuned from Utah Airguns shooting 15.89 at 890 fps. My 5 shot chrono confirmed this. The trigger is not nearly as nice as the Taipan but I wasn't expecting it to be, and I can play with it and make it better, its not a bad trigger, its just hard to contest with a Taipans trigger, I do not know if any mass produced air rifle can IMO.

I went with a UTG bug buster 3-12x32 for this rifle and it is PERFECT FOR IT!! it focuses down to 3 yards and the reticle is great for the type of pesting/shooting I want to do with this. It also has the rifle in at under 6 pounds with air, a loaded mag, and the scope. It is also 21 inches from where the shoulder for the moderator mount is to the dimple in the buttstuck.

Only things it needs now is a sling , a moderator , and I am contemplating mounting a UIT to Pic adapter in the UIT rail on the foregrip so I can mount a magpul angled foregrip but still up in the air on that.

I will have some groupings and chrono readings Saturday evening for everyone and some more thoughts as well, thus far I am very pleased.

New guy, may be a dumb question

I have a new to me .22 R5M that I am sighting in. It is pretty much hole on hole with JSB 25‘s at 10 yards. If I shoot NSA .217, slugs of the same weight the poi moves to the right 2” with no elevation change. Is this to be expected? The NSA 17’s and 20’s are all over the place. Is this just because they are not going fast enough? Would it even matter at 10 yards? Thank you for your time.

30 cal crush all other calibers???

I got into airgun watching Ted video 10 plus years ago. Ted have always said, the best caliber in terms of weight, size, accuracy, buffing the wind, etc, was the .25 cal. How much he talks so highly of the .25 cal. That is why most of my guns are .25 cals. I own a few .22 too. But never 30 or 35 cal. And now I see Ted ditching the .25 cal and going toward the .30 cal. He shoot 10 shot groups at 75 yards and 100 yards and they are literally hole in hole. WoW. I have never seen a gun so accurate. He is doing group size at 100 yards as most ppl are doing at 30-50 yards. And that isn't picking the best like most ppl do. He is doing it over and over and over again with his .30 cal. And no other caliber can beat it. Not even his best .25 cal impact. So did I went with the wrong caliber .25??? Damn none of my .22 and .25 cal can do what Teds 30 cal is doing. So makes me think, is the .30 cal the ultimate beast or what? Making me want to toss my .25 cal barrel away and go get a new .30 cal.

Screenshot from his video. 100 yards
Screenshot_20220922-131959_YouTube.jpg

Here are some 75 yards and all hole in hole. Not cheery picking like most ppl do.

Scope vs Diopter/Irons

There seems to be a renewed interest in the diopter/factory irons, these days. I have always enjoyed the diopter. For many decades however, I seemed to scope every new springer or powder burner I would get. Like many I have spent a lot of time behind a scope to only to learn it comes with its share of disappointments. I still primarily shoot most of my powder burners scoped but have a good share wearing some type of irons only. I think the reason I enjoy a springer so much is the all the challenges that come with one. The main thing I do not enjoy about a quality springer is the size and weight. The diopter helps create a good balance to these issues. It adds to the challenge while keeping the gun trim and thin. Same applies to the factory irons. If you have never tried a diopter/peep sight I would highly encourage you to try one. Factory open sights are to difficult for me because these tired eyes just do not make a clear image on the rear sight. Also a very important thing with a peep is to get the iris as close to the eye as ”safely“ possible because it allows the smallest hole possible and forces consistent head placement. This “consistent head placement” is to me the biggest challenge with a scope. Something very satisfying to print a clover with diopter.

Quest of the .177 Caliber Benchrest PCP Rifle

Hello everyone,

I am looking for the most accurate .177 caliber PCP rifle for benchrest target shooting at 25 and 50 yards. My FX Crown MK II .177 shooting MRD 13.43gr will shoot MOA at both 25 and 50 yards. I am wondering if there is a rifle that will shoot a lighter pellet as well as the Crown.

Tell me what you have that meets these specifications:
1) You must now own the rifle
2) Shoots 10.5 gr pellets or lighter
3) Able to shoot 10 out of 10 shots MOA at either 25 yards or 50 yards ( see attached target )
4) The rifle must have a mechanical trigger and can be fired from the shoulder ( no electric triggers )
5) Is it factory stock with just regular adjustable tuning
6) If it has been modified please explain

If you have a rifle that meets all of the above I would appreciate you sharing the information and any photos.

The Weihrauch Diopter

This is a picture of the Weihrauch diopter sight. Discontinued decades ago. Still can be found occasionally on sights like eBay. I just got another from Australia. Weihrauch made this sight originally to fit their 13mm dovetail. They changed the dovetail to 11mm sometime in the 70’s I believe. All Weihrauch airguns for the past 5 decades have been the 11mm. Make certain you are getting the 11mm. Anschutz diopters are also 11mm. They have there advantages/disadvantages to to Weihrauch diopter. They don’t drop down over the thumb like the Weihrauch but don’t have a integrated stop pin like the Weihrauch. The Anschutz doesn’t seem to slide in the lower power sporters like the HW30,35,50. Even held on my 22 caliber HW95. I would be concerned on a 177 95 though. They are pricey and getting more so like everything else everyday. I think they add a good look to the gun, keep it light and small but most importantly make it fun to shoot.
