Cost of magazines

The cost of some magazines are hard to justified for me.
There are the exception to the rule, but a simple box or circular rotary costing the north side of 60 dollars just seams unreasonable.
Not to mention the 100.00 plus ones. After this last Daystate (Thank goodness for CRAM) I pay closer attention to mag prices.

.20/13.73 versus .177/10.34 for FT use

Just shot a comparison that I've been wanting to do for quite awhile. Winds are bad today and I'm off work and want to shoot so...good day for it.

These two guns are the most accurate and most wind-resistant FT specific rigs that I've had the pleasure to shoot. Both will shoot dime sized 10 shot groups @ 55 in favorable conditions, as the norm, not the cherry picked exception.

One is a USFT with a 23inch slow twist (1:36) poly barrel shooting the .177/10.34s at 905-925. Shot from a bumbag in this comparison. With all the shooting helps, it is benchrest stable.

The other is a Veteran Short with a 16inch, 12 land and groove 1:17.7 twist. It shoots the .20/13.73 @ 795-805. Shot from a "bench" for this comparison.

1000001348.jpg

Winds today are rough, forecast is 18-20mph sustained, with gusts up to 32mph. And that might even be a bit conservative. There's a 30x50 metal carport off to the left of where I'm shooting and the gusts sound like they're going to take that carport for a ride.

Shot a ten shot group from each gun, alternating back and forth to average out any ebbs and flows in the wind. No hold offs and no timing for wind. Wind is coming from directly behind me, and my house is also at my back. So that means the wind eddies around the house and meets back up about 3/4 of the way out to the 55 yard targets.

1000001350.jpg

The most egregious "flyers" coincided with the big gusts.

I expected the USFT to perform better in the wind than the Vet, as that's how it has seemed when I've competed with these two. I suspect the slightly higher match scores from the USFT are because it's so much easier to shoot from a field target position than the short little Vet.

Thought it interesting enough to share.

NLA Custom 95 Springers

Here are two custom Hatsan 95 carbines. Short and handy for small gaming. I cut the barrels down and re-crowned them. Then turn the polymer front sight down into a muzzle brake/cocking handle. Next, cut down the Walnut stock on both ends. Added a high quality U.S made butt pad. Strip, sand and finish the stock. Clean and polish the internals. Tune the trigger and add longer adjustment screws. Top it off with a Sniper, AO, mil-dot, illuminated short scope and a UTG offset mount. The first picture is a .177 springer with a sleeve on the spring. No twang or vibration. A real rocket launcher. The second is a .25 caliber Vortex, set to 125 bar. Super smooth cocking/firing cycle on both. Incredibly accurate. Velocity is pictured for each. Each gun has $100 of options besides the gun cost. The .177 $225. The .25 $225. $30 shipping to Continental U.S. $50 west of the Mississippi.

Question about Open Division rules

Hey Guys,

Right now I exclusively shoot HFT, but am considering trying my hand at Open Division. I have a question about rules as I experiment with different equipment and positions. In non-forced position lanes is it legal to place a small bag-rest on the forward knee or thigh to support the forend of the gun?

My read of the AAFTA rules is that it isn't legal. The Common Division Rules state, "Other than using aids permitted by specific AAFTA Division Rules (slings, bipods, etc.), the gun must be supported solely by the shooter's hands and body." I don't see anything in the Open Division Rules that specifically allow it. However, I've seen multiple Open Division shooters with thick pads (not knee pads) strapped to their knee or thigh, to rest their gun on. Am I misunderstanding the rules?

FX Airguns Panthera Featuring NEW Element Optics Helix HD Scope: Is the Hype Real?

The FX Panthera Dynamic Block and Shroud Plenum: A Look Inside (and into the future)! The UpNorth Airgunner YouTube channel is going to surpass 30,000 subscriber this month and I can not thank you all enough for following me for the last 5 years on my EPIC airgunners journey and experiences. So as a thank you, at the end of the month of January, I will be doing a random drawing from my subscribers to GIVE AWAY an Element Optics scope. So make sure to Subscribe to UpNorthAirGunner!

This was the video I wanted to publish a few weeks ago when the FX Panthera was first announced, but with over 2 feet of snow here in Northern Michigan and my shooting range inaccessible, I decided to use this down time to dig into what makes this new platform from FX Airguns a revolutionary innovation in our sport. The weather finally broke a bit to do some initial tuning and testing at 50 and 100 yards. Doing this testing in sub freezing temperatures has challenges, but I wanted to get out there and share with you all the new gear I am testing and how the process of tuning a FX Panthera might be slightly different than other PCP airguns. But is the hype real? From what I have experienced so far with this platform.... 100% YES! Go watch Josh’s video from Pursuit of Accuracy on YouTube and the level of precision is already proven over group after group after group.

What I wanted to show in this video is the process of that pursuit of accuracy and precision specifically with the FX Panthera and the tuning differences I have found with the short burst valve and the shroud based plenum system. But…. What excites me the most is the DYNAMIC possibilities in this new FX block design! Thus the name. I’ve gotten a lot of questions that I wanted to go over about the new platform. First off…. Yes a DonnyFL FX Suppressor looks perfect with the new outer diameter of the shroud. The end part of the shroud is removable and when you look inside towards the muzzle you’ll find an air stripping device similar to what we have in the FX Impact. With the over-the-barrel shroud plenum removed looking into the Dynamic Block you can see the valve area and how the air flow pathway has been perfected adding to the insane level of efficiency and power potential the industry is always chasing.

Moving back to the block with the baracade stand off removed reveals a brass port on the Dynamic Block. Hein mentioned this briefly in the FX video published last week. That plugged port opens up possibilities to even MORE onboard air! But wait, there’s even MORE onboard air potential. In that FX video Hein mentions an adapter for a REAR buttstock bottle too! Looking at how the PRS rear buttstock attaches, you can envision how the modularity and GENIUS of FX reveals itself.

So this is just a first look into the guts of the transformative Airgun platform FX just unleashed. My mind is already spinning with all the future options, but what I have in my hand is a PERFECT example of FX’s approach to purpose built designs. With that said, “purpose built” is usually a fancy way of saying something has designed itself into a single purpose use. The FX Dynamic Block is quite the opposite. I’d even venture to say it’s the most MODULAR approach to an Airgun design I’ve ever seen.

We are witnessing the golden age of innovation and FX is leading that charge. It’s a GREAT time to be an airgunner!

SOLD Impact M3.22 600mm ***priced to sell***

Traded this rifle for my leshiy 2 a few months back with a member here. It was obscenely well taken care of. I was hoping to have something to use for long range and power, but I never use it. My crown and dreamline get more use.

It’s a bronze M3 in .22 600mm config with 480 bottle. Comes with 1 mag, hard case and fx sectional moderator.
It’s currently shooting 18gn jsb pellets at 930 fps and very accurate for the speed. Will throw in bipod in picture (knockoff atlas), and a brand new full tin of 18 grain jsb’s to get you started.

Asking $1800 shipped conus

Will include a 600mm .25cal barrel, probe, and magazine for $250 more.

***no reasonable offers refused***

Need to sell fast!

Thanks for looking!

Image stolen from @yenniedn (whom I trade the rifle from) so scope not included.

Message me for more pics or questions.

Would consider trades for Evol, or maybe Leshiy 2 (odd i know, as being as that’s what I traded it for. Lol). Or something else compact and rugged.

SHIPPING COST OUT OF CONTROL

I was just on AoA website to order a Labradar airgun microphone. $44.95 on sale. Add $3.85 for tax AND ADD $25.86 UPS SHIPPING.
NO F’ing WAY. The entire package would not hit one pound and would fit in 4”x4”x4” box.
This is completely stupid. Ordered it from Midway, $8.50 shipping.

Edit: Shipping on a rifle would be several hundred dollars.

Ticked another one off the bucket list

.177 Ranchero. I missed buying this one twice. Third time is the charm. I saw several 22's come up, and could have bought a new synthetic one, but wanted Walnut. This appears to be a very old model, and it has a fair amount of dings on it. But it has been very well tuned. This is now the quietest gun I own with a moderator. I have another .177 pcp pistol with less power, and this is easily 5x quieter. The gun was just serviced by FX. It's a little larger than I immagined, but not by much. The trigger is better than my fx Crown. The best of any gun I own. And what I'm happiest about is that it has a very light hammer. The gun is not disturbed at all during the shot cycle by hammer mass or valve impact. It came with an air tube extension, and extended muzzle brake which I removed for now. I'll have the receiver refinished at some point. And I will refinish, and re-work the stock to better fit me. I'm also likely going to give making a carbine stock for it a go. Overall, a really supurb pistol, and exceedingly accurate.

Air Venturi Avenger price question

Hello everyone!

Happy new year first of all!!!
I had made a few posts about spring powered air rifles a while ago. Eventually, due to budget constraints (rent and other university related dues) I bought a XISICO/BAM/BMK XS/BAM 19 in .22. A friend who has been working on these guns for quite some time tuned it for me and I'm really happy with it!! Especially for the price point! (about 100€). Since I already have two springers (this and an x-blade), I thought that it would be nice to save up in order to get a pcp next...

So, the air venturi avenger is a really nice rifle (I'm being captain obvious here) with a really affordable price point. Thing is, here in Greece, it's pricier compared to what it is in the USA.

More specifically, the U.S price for the version with the wooden stock (that's the one that I really like) is about 430$ (429.99$ on pyramid air).
In Greece, the very same gun costs 649.00€ (which is about 696.99$).

I'm not trying to bash the rifle in any way. I know that it is a great gun because of it's performance and tunability (very few people have something negative to say about it which is an added bonus imho). However, the question is, is it worth it the 649 euros? Or should I look elsewhere for a pcp air rifle that won't break the bank?

Online purchased the only option?

I’m in Southern California and new to airguns. I was interested in a few guns, but there are no shops nearby that I can check them out. For those that don’t have shops near them, do you just pick one, order it and hope you like it? I can read and watch reviews all day, but as we know there are biased opinions on everything
