Airgun Technologies  Vulcan 3 HP reg trouble and possible fix

If you need the short version, skip right to the end.

I have made adjustments a few times on the regulator and I also dismantled the reg some time ago. Well, everything but the adjustment part since there isn't supposed to be anything subjected to wear.

I noticed the lower O-ring having a cut on it. I wasn't sure if it was the culprit so decided to change it (them) just to be sure. I have a few kits lying around so I easily found a match albeit probably not the recommended nbr90. Back together and waiting for nice weather.

I found the reg acting up again and while there was talk about making a reg tester with a friend of mine, I had to pull it apart for the tenth time. Needless to say I was freaking out when I found a cut on the exact same place.

I have a habit of installing the reference holes on the tube and regulator lining up. I remember reading about it somewhere. I guess it may help but I wouldn't bet on it. Well it helped me here because the cut is exactly where the holes align.

The breathing holes are drilled from the outside, naturally, and there are shavings on the inside threads which in this case make a nasty cut on the O-ring.
I will try to get rid of them and see what happens.

Umarex  Umarex Hammer surgery

.50 Hammer leak is found. What do you bet that I can't buy this part? I can't even find a parts list to even give the broken valve (?) a correct name :(
Oh yeah, a dilly of a pickle to tear down the rifle to find the leak. I was expecting a blown o-ring that I could easily replace. Hate to send it in as shipping both ways is more than the part and o-ring cost. Never mind the labor charge.
Worst of all, this rifle is a "clover leaf" shooter at 55 yards and 3 " at 100 yards. :)
Any suggestions or suck it up?

N/A  New(to me) Walther LGU, INITIAL RESULTS

Yesterday I recieved a beautiful LGU I Found on this forum. I wasn't really looking for one but it was beautiful and I heard it just might best my TX200. I arrived at the indoor range and set up at 23 yards. I had installed the 6-24×50 Air max last evening. This scope was on my TX for several months and I won several matches with it. I was shocked to discover the parallel adjustment no longer worked. I guess laying on a shelf in a gun safe for several months did not agree with it. So back home and mount the first scope for my TX I had bought. A Hawke 4-12×50 Vantage. Th LGU is at just under 12gpe so it should work. Back to the range , look down at my target, oops it's tiny, need to turn scope up from 4x to 12x. It's on 12x now dummy. Every one of my air rifle go up to 20x and never come of that. Ok at least I can focus and set the parallel. Wow, that 12x cross hair pretty much fills the center of the notebook paper reinforcement ring I am shooting at. Maybe I should set all my scopes to 12x. I shoot 2 groups, the upper with JSB 8.44 .452 and the lower with AirArms 8.3 in .452. These are my go to pellets. They shoot very well in all my .177s. This LGU is going to be a winner. Tuned with a differ piston, spring, trigger and seals it is a joy to shoot. The pellet high right shot on the lower groups was my last shot, eyes were pretty fatigued straining by then. Only excuse I have, lol. Both groups 5 shots and the rifle. The top group measured center to center with a magnified caliper is .065, the lower one is .067 but should have been much better.

Many thanks to Adam who parted with this gem and allowed me to have it.

Umarex  Backyard Notos fun

Had a little fun this afternoon/evening. Shot the Notos for the first time from a rest, cheap Caldwell 7 rest, also have some bags on order but havent arrived yet. I have only shot this offhand before and almost all my shooting in my life has been off hand.

I'm really impressed with how the Notos performed. Target was 36 yards out and using Crossman Premier Ultra Magnum pellets, 14.3 grain. Just using a UTG Bugbuster scope.

Pic's attached are all bottom right target from Notos, the middle hits are offhand groups from some barrel breaks and my son with his non-scoped Velox 😒

Using the factory 7 round mag, don't like the factory mags but both of the better options I tried won't clear the scope. Planning on getting higher scope rings. This is the group I shot. The only mag I got to shoot with the Notos tonight as the rest didn't arrive until late this evening.

Don't hate on the resting on my knee pillow setup lol

Lightweight scopes

I was just curious as to the lack of lightweight/sub 1 pound rifle optics for airguns, or that could be used on airguns. Scopes that have an adjustable objective or parallax adjustment down to 10 yards. Scopes to make note of:
-Leupold 3-9x33 EFR at 12.1 oz iirc; sadly uses duplex
-Hawke Vantage line has quite a few scopes under 1 pound, thankfully. Though not many go beyond 9x. I personally own the 4x32 AO, and love it.

I have looked at other rifle scopes that come close, some from Vortex, some from higher end companies, but most if not all fail to focus at 10 yards, and/or are much heavier than that 16oz mark.

I was curious if anyone here has made a list of lightweight optics?

PCP Rifle  NLA Brocock Sniper XR .22, $1000

I have a .22 Sniper XR with 6 original magazines and one Rowan single shot tray. These are the original mags that rotate to load NOT the new style that flip open. I have both styles and prefer the older version. I have loved the Brocock line of rifles and bought this one when they came out with the side lever. I sold one of the original ones that was the bolt action style. I have acquired a .25 Ghost and a .177 Pathfinder to suit my dairy pesting needs and now this one is the odd man out.
It has been a wonderful rifle and I have loved shooting it. The only thing I have done to it is adjust the regulator little to better suit my needs. I have also purchased the upgraded internal fill valve that Brocock updated after the original had so many issues with sticking open and draining all the air.
I am looking to get $1000, which will include shipping to the lower 48. Paypal is my preferred method of payment however I am open to other forms of payment if you have been a member with a few transactions. Check my feedback, I have had many transactions here in the past. Thanks and have a blessed day.

The $2000 dollar gun.

This post question is for the guys that own expensive airguns and anyone that just knows. If a man that is not rich was to have saved his money till he had $2000 , and was asking for advice , and even it's twice that much what air rifle would he buy , and oh yeah just for target shooting I can't kill animals anymore it's just not in my heart. Not competition either just a really nice well made dependable air rifle. What is the rifle you would have bought the first time if you knew.
Thanks for your advice.

Squirrel hunting gun recommendations (sorry)

Sorry, I know this has probably been asked a bunch of times. I tried searching the forums but could not find what I was looking for.

I had bought an Umarex Synergis Elite in 22 cal, but had horrible results with it. I ran a couple hundred pellets through it (crosman premier hollow points, some Benjamins, heavier H&Ns, etc), but could not get any accuracy with it. I'd group a few right where I wanted, then without any changes, the POI would change, and also random flyers as well.

I just returned it today, so I am weighing my options on what to get next.

I live in Illinois and primarily will use it for squirrels, rabbits, and some plinking. My budget isn't huge, so that's why I was looking at multishot pumps. I was also looking at the Umarex Notos PCP, but I have zero experience with them.

Thank you in advance for the info.

Other  Enter... the Dragon

Parker Hale Dragon that is...😉
I've had this for a while and know that not many have seen or shot one. It's my second, the first being a Match version in 177. It was not impressive in terms of accuracy and valve durability but I've come to learn there are "Mk1" and "Mk2" versions which the difference seems to be hardened valve parts. I've also repaired a couple for AoA as they are finicky to set up the valve letoff . These others were like this one - sporters in 22. The valves are letoff type where the trigger holds it closed till the sear breaks, then pops open to let the air out. They are incredibly robustly made, as seen in the pics of the pump mechanism. It is a multi-leverage arrangement. The effort isn't all that high for a 12 ft lb single stroke but it's a bit awkward because the stroke is so long. It actually closes itself in the last part of the stroke.

20250208_123645.jpg

Note the multi-leverage arrangement with roller bearing, lever lock, and manual reset valve.
It's a process to shoot one... unlock lever, swing open fully, set valve, close pump lever, open bolt, insert pellet, close bolt, release auto-safety, THEN you can fire... don't think you're going to burn up a lot of ammo per session.
It is HEAVY from all the thick steel... over 11 lb with no scope...
Still... neat old rifle to shoot.
I've put this one up for sale and have a couple of prospective buyers, so I wanted to share some details while I could...

Edited to show manufacturer...

N/A  PCP cold weather shooting

So the weather was relatively pleasant. Bright sunshine, no wind, but it was coldish. Maybe mid 20's F?

Things started out great, but as I was out there longer it seemed like my shots were more erratic, especially the drop. I decided that I had better quit when I started fiddling w the scope more than is healthy... before I just made it worse.

The extremities were getting pretty numb by then anyways, so I retreated to the nearest beer house.

Gonna warm the guns back up to room temp & see how they perform in the basement today

What do you think, does chilling a gun kind of make sense as a cause of all of this inaccuracy? They were working great to begin w..
