RTI Prophet II standard valve 'upgrade'.

After a few months of struggling with the P2 with poor velocity spread and leaks I decided to have a go at fitting a standard type valve. The new valve is turned for PEEK with hardened 3mm steel rod. Other changes to make it work - Balance tube part drilled out to 6mm, O ring removed and 1mm hole at the back. New valve is shorter so spacer added behind spring. Hammer requires a lot more force so there is a weight/spacer inside the hammer to shorten spring. I still think the hammer needs more weight so have asked RTI for a P1 hammer. Have had 200 slugs through it so far mostly over the chrony for tuning. Its maxed out at about 56Ftlbs but I think a heavier hammer will sort that. Dosent seem to use more air than before. Cocking much harder of course and it was never like butter anyway. Graph using 27gn H&N slugs.

75y with the R9 on stock irons and cphp .177. Them missed shots cant figure if the wind gust hit em or my hold canted, or random pellet . Just using whatever tin pellets .. oh well i guess it could be worse... Slashed holes are sight in so to say..

How many Brocock Atomic RX pistols are "actually" used as pistols

I bought the Atomic RX to be used as a...pistol...if possible. I have plenty of short guns, and a pistol made into a faux carbine isn't really my cup-o-tea.

After months of curiosity about the RX, and its use as a pistol, I finally got going and bought one to try, it arrived the other day.

I find that it's missing one thing though. The safety lever only has the Fire and Safe (implied) positions, it's missing the "Semi" position, should I send it back !!? The receiver is built plenty robust enough to have been made into a semi-auto gun.

No real need to add to any of the previous comments or videos about how though the gun is. I find no argument most of what I've seen.
And while the trigger SEEMS, very nice, smooth, crisp let-off, and all of that, it must have a cars front spring in the mechanism. I don't have a pull gauge, but the trigger pull is similar to my fire arms ! A good 3lbs.+ is my guess. I moved the trigger shoe, down and back a little, for a better angle, didn't help much.
One thing did amaze me, I put the Trijicon, MRO on it, only took two clicks right to get it on center at about 13yrds.
With the front Picatinny rail removed and the MRO sight set back, the balance in one hand isn't bad at all. Right now the, front to back, balance point is about the radius of the trigger guard, so that's a pretty good thing.
Oh yeah, It got a grip swap too.

Also...for anyone else that MAY...actually use this gun as a pistol (right handers), swapping the cocking handle to the "top"...of the cocking arm, actually allows the use of the left hand to cock the gun. May even help for the pistol-shoulder stock folks.

I haven't done any pellet speed checking or adjusting yet. Will look into that today or tomorrow.

I tried a Tatsu and the Huma Mod30 for sound suppression. The three segment Huma make it almost...a whisper, but it's too long. The two segment Huma, is a notable bit quieter than the Tatsu. The Huma is smaller in diameter, and a, little shorter, soo. I do have the short 0db that I can try, but it's kinda long.

Kinda like shooting a .22 out of a .50 cal., Desert Eagle...but that's ok I guess.
More playing, experimenting to come.

Cleaning up morning backyard shoot

The Starlings and Grackles were out in force this morning in my part Oklahoma City. Shooting was quite brisk. I decided to break out the P-Rod (.22) for the larger/tougher birds. That little "carbine" is spot on and deadly. A joy to shoot. The neighborhood Possum came waddling through the yard along the back fence where the expired birds lay. I didn't have my camera with me, but I knew her route (I know it is a female because I saw her leading her young along the same path last year) and went into the house and caught her coming over the fence and ducking into the bushes in front of my neighbor's house.

Update on fx panthera 25 cal 700mm liner

i have been shooting and tuning my panthera for a couple of months now and am impressed with it each time I shoot. Through my experience I have discovered that the tuning process is entirely different when compared to an impact. The power wheels look the same (macro and micro) but adjustments with I click on micro wheel could mean 20 fps in speed change. Very small reg changes (2 bar increases) seem to also make huge difference . The new valve system is extremely responsive to small changes so take your time when tuning. I am currently shooting 40 gr dish base Avs slugs at 1000 fps with sub moa accuracy at 100 yards. My settings for this tune is reg at 145 bar macro at 19 and micro at 3.75. The shoot count is 16. I hope this might helps a few. Happy shooting

Airgun Shooter

I picked up a copy of this magazine in Barnes and Noble in January, I enjoyed reading it so much I took out a subscription the next day. The publication is based in Great Britain. Lots of good articles on hunting, target shooting, field target, product reviews... a really good read. I was just wondering if anyone else has ever seen it.

FX Craze

Just wondering if the FX Craze will ever slow down in the States. I have been into PCPS for 12 years. My first was a AA S510 in .22 cal. Almost perfect in every category. Noticed they recently received a big award in Europe. Shot a Daystate Wolverine 10 years ago and was blown away. It appears that these manufacturers continue solid R and D but it appears that guys love greater opportunities to tweak their guns and accessorize them. Thus the success of FX here at home. Am I missing something?

My Yong Heng died again

My pump started acting goofy as I was watching the gauge as I was filling my tank. The pressure was almost up to 300 bar when all of a sudden the pressure started rapidly falling in the opposite direction. My hour meter had 18.4 hours on it so I knew I was getting close to needing a high pressure side rebuild as my fill times had greatly increased. I tore the compressor apart and found that the brass high pressure piston was severely scratched on one side and the piston rings were hard and brittle. I've been down this road a few times before and had previously purchased 4 piston and gasket kits from Ali Express.

So I drained the crankcase, removed the cover, wiped the sediment out and replaced the piston. Upon reassembly I discovered that the crankcase cover gasket had shrank in overall size. It would no longer fit into the groove around the cover. I tried warming it up and stretching it but it wouldn't stay large enough to fit upon assembly. Therefore I removed the rubber gasket, cleaned both surfaces and applied no-name black RTV silicone sealant (purchased at Harbor Freight). I allowed it to cure for 48 hours, filled the crankcase with Campbell-Hausfield synthetic compressor oil and fired up the compressor. I had air, yay.

The new piston was not balanced as well as the previous one and I had twice the vibration and much louder noise level. After about 10 minutes of run time several oil leaks appeared around the crankcase gasket so I shut it down. Drained the oil and removed the cover to find that the RTV had several places where it was still gooey and not set up so that was the source of the leaks. The new oil was black and extremely contaminated. Cleaned everything and sealed the cover again with red Permatex RTV this time. I will allow it to cure for 3 days before I fire it up again.

So in the interim I am weighing my options. Do I want to keep going down this road and repairing a ticking time bomb or bite the bullket and upgrade to a more reliable and more expensive compressor. The Alkin would be the dream compressor but not really wanting to spend that much. The Coltri MCH6 and Omega Air Charger are both high on my consideration list but both are spendy as well. The rabbit hole keeps getting deeper ...

Caliber... man. Feeding vs Magazine ? Accuracy

Just a general question - i have .177 and .22 FAC barrel kits for my FX Crown.

Light pellets in .177 especially from JSB due to their softer lead will benefit from the manual loading.
When i shoot .22 i mainly shoot Slugs, hades and 18 gr. Jsb and I dont see the same accuracy improvement of handfeeding....
so in .25 and larger calibrrs does it make any differences in accuracy when hand loading? I assume compared to a good auto indexing magazine ?
I look forward for your opnion.....

The reason for this question is that i designed a manual indexing .177 to my Crown and will do one for 22 as well. A lot of comments was that I should do one for .25 and .30 as well. But In my head there must be limited gain

Local pick-up in the Atlanta metro or I will meet you halfway up to 4 hour drive. This unit is in excellent working order. Explosive Pellets

Years ago I bought some "exploding" pellets from someone that made them on one of the airgun forums, They were homemade with some type of chemical substance glued into a hollow point and shaped like a dome pellet. When you hit a solid target there was a small bang and flash. They we not dangerous or extreme and were actually fun. I haven't seen any in years.
Has anyone ever come across these? I would love to get my hands on a few or learn how to build them myself.

PCP Rifle  NLA JSAR Rogue Raptor .30

Got it, tuned it, shot it and am ready to pass it on. I really have no need for a .30. What I can’t kill with my .22 I’ll kill with my .357. It’s shooting great as it and has plenty of room to grow. Getting well over 50 shots from a 300 bar fill shooting JSB 44 gr at 860. I can do a full shot string, but I do not want to waste the small amount of .30 ammo I have. Accuracy is pretty good. Could be better with more trigger time. Comes with gun and one magazine. Can include ammo for the right trade. Willing to trade for airgun related items. Not sure I need another gun but you can try me. Only interested in a .22.

Homemade bigbore 50.

Hi all, new guy here. I'm a licensed gunsmith that got hooked on the world of PCP rifles a few months ago. I purchased an Air Venturi Avenger and Umarex Hammer. I quickly became addicted to the big bores. I wanted to try something new and thought I'd have my hand at building my own big bore 50 cal. I wanted to achieve 1150fps with 250 hard casts that a friend made. I started out with raw material, a 500/510 green mountain barrel blank, tank and reg. There's a bit too much to go into but I can fill it to 4500 psi and fire it unregulated which will dump the total air volume or pump it to 4500 with the reg and fire shots at 3000psi. I designed all the parts in my head and just made corrections as I went but putting it on the chronograph surprised the hell out of me the first time I shot it! This was unregulated at 2500psi. I'm trying to decide on whether or not I want to get into maybe producing these at a later date, obviously something better looking than this iteration. It weighs 8lbs without the scope but I plan to put a carbon fiber bottle on it. I currently have it regulated at 3000 with a 4500 max fill and get almost 5 full power shots at just shy of 1200fps with the current plenum volume.
