SkeeterHawk Has Lost His Mind! Video shooting (mostly) swinging targets in INSANE wind!! 70mph Gusts!!

Hello friends,

I would make this a challenge, if it were even a tiny bit "normal" that anyone else have this kind of crazy wind. This would be good training for the RMAC as the wind was about the same, but the stationary targets would be more representative of that competition.

Anyway, here is a link to the (pretty long) video:

I didn't want to edit it much as all of the setup time and crazy wind blowing the heck out of things is what makes this interesting, IMO. I was pretty happy that I nailed the Coke can at about 80 yards in the first shot 💪🥳, and then shanked the next two on a stationary target at about 50 yards. 😞 Such is life!

So, this was what I was doing while Mother Nature was rearranging our lawn furniture for us. Such a nice woman! 🤗

Let me know what you think, and if you can/would/should shoot in such insane conditions.

Cheers!

Jonathan

Just a note, before I got started, I had to "rescue" my cans from being stuck on the trees. This is how one of them looked, and note the heavy washer I have tied onto the string to help prevent this kind of thing. When the winds are THIS strong, I'd probably need a brick instead.

PCP Rifle  SOLD REDUCED - Regulated Full Auto Evanix Max .25

Original select fire Max in excellent condition with only a couple of marks in the metal and a light mark in the wood under the grip. It’s been a bench-only gun. It isn’t much louder than the action with the INCLUDED 3D printed moderator. On a 200 bar fill it comes off the regulator in the 4th 10-round magazine, but with JSB Kings on a single fill I’ve shot the best 9 consecutive 5-shot 50-yard groups of my life. More accurate than my LW or CZ-barreled guns that have better triggers, but maybe it’s me.

An Altaros regulator is installed and I’ll throw in an older version of the regulator that would need a rebuild. The pressure gauge face seems to move freely so isn’t much use in absolute terms, and as is seemingly the case with all of these guns, in full auto the probe sometimes doesn’t stop in the retracted position, so you may have to switch to semi to remove the magazine. Holds air.

Comes with the moderator, 2 magazines, the original shroud cap and wooden cheek piece, and a double magazine that only feeds consistently on one side – may need a spring. Scope, rings and bipod not included but could be negotiated at reasonable rates. I seem to have fewer fill probes of this size than guns that use them, so I wasn’t going to include one.

$1350 plus actual shipping, Paypal plus fees or F&F.

.30 cal ZAN 56 grain pellets

Anybody have these new magic beans yet that actually bought them? I’ve seen the pre-orders on dealer's web sites but no actual physical pellets yet. It’ll take a strong gun to get them to about 870 fps which should be a good speed. 94 FPE. The “Influencers” and “‘Tubers” of course will either love them or say nothing at all, else ZAN will stop sending them free sh!t. 🤪. Would like to hear from AGN members…

On a slightly different but similar topic, has anyone seen an Influencer or 'Tuber do a bad or even mediocre review in the past couple of years? You'd think all PCPs were tack drivers if all you did was watch YouTube and Instagram...

Also, it should be interesting to see how many Match Directors in April tournaments violate their own rules and allow these pellets to be used, despite the fact they are not yet "commercially available - mass produced" pellets... I’m mainly talking about the inaugural NAC in NH and the EFT GP - 100Y event in Oregon. It'll be a different story once they are available to the general public of course.

PCP Rifle  NLA .457 Piledriver carbine

Have hunted with this the last two seasons with great success! Have taken 4 deer and farthest was 75 yard heart shot!
10 inches was cut from the barrel and recrowned to make it much easier to hunt with and did not hurt any accuracy at all.
Still making 450fpe with 280 grain Mr Hollow points on a 300 bar fill.
The target is 4 shots at 50 yards and first shot to the right was before scope adjustment!
Going a different direction for next season so this one is going to a new home! You won't be disappointed it has a great trigger too.
Asking $750 shipped and scope and sling not included in this sale. PayPal FF preferred.

Thanks for looking

Lots of big fat rats shot with my HW100T and Pard008 LRF

I haven't been back at this permission for about a year now. The rats population came back in full force. Lots of rats were roaming the area and I was busy sending the Hades downrange thru my HW100T with the Pard008 LRF night vision.

It was a fun shooting night and with the rats collected, I was able to use them as bait for my Coyote #6 hunt.

Enjoy.

A gently used HW95 is on the way.

A nice, used HW95 in .22 caliber will be in my hands in a few days. Those of you that have experience with this rifle and caliber, please tell me what to expect as far as, well, anything and everything.

Things like maintenance, accuracy, scope recommendations, best shooting techniques, good pellet choices, etc.

I have researched a little bit on the rifle, but it’s good to hear from real shooters in the real world.

What say ye?

Maverick DIY repair

So the season are upon us, but my maverick have been at the dealer since November to get the cocking handle that suddenly broke repaired under warranty.

But while the dealer say he have gotten the handle, the m3 screw it hinge on ( m3 special part # 45 ) seem to be giving him grief ( getting it out )
Now i have not wrenched much on my maverick the biggest job was probably changing to the dual transfer port, which also took some force + heat as it was secured with what i assume are the strongest locktite money can buy, at least IMO entirely unnecessary.
I was heating and wrenching way harder on it than i liked to, to get it iut, and the end result also was the original transfer port in brass was molested beyond reuse.

So the dealer say the rear barrel support ( part # 36 ) also need to be replaced as he can not get the damn screw out, i assume he have either stripped the head on the small m3 screw, and it might well have gotten far too much / strong locktite too, and so either can not be loosned at all, or it have come loose but can not be screwed entirely out due to locktite in threads above it ( which i assume could be cleared by cleaning the thread with a m3 thread tool )

Anyway i am now looking to complete this myself, so i will need ( if dealer have not yet gotten these parts ) a new cocking handle ( # 42 ) a new rear barrel support ( # 36 ) and finally the m3 special screw ( # 45 )

I have circled the 3 parts i need on the drawing, and also drawn ( in red ) where the cocking handle for no reason snapped in November ( i know not to treat precession instruments like a rifle with a sledge hammer, the only times i have been " rough " on the handle are the few times i have double loaded )

Mav parts.jpg

But where to get these after all not regular parts ? i have serious doubt any EU dealer have them in store, so over here that pretty much leave me with FX them self, but i dont think they have a store.
So i am thinking my only chance are @FX-USA for these parts

PS. The dealer insisted on getting the rifle in, needless to say as a guy with several educations in metal fabrication, and also having worked as a engineer on ships, well i think i am qualified to do the repair myself.

PPS. The " special " m3 screw, well not that special to me, it very much look to be the same kind of screws used in the drive line for RC cars, so i might actually have one of those myself CUZ they can and will snap on our little 4 X 4 scale trucks

500mm Panthera and Hybrids

I've had a rollercoaster of results with the 500mm Panthera shooting Hybrids. Keep in mind the 500mm comes with the standard superior liner and not the heavy. Mine is 30 cal. I need some brains to help me think this through.
Out of the box, it was horrible with hybrids, and excellent with pellets. Long story-short, I put in the 8mm hammer weight, upped the reg to 170, my micro is set on 3.5.
Presto, speed jumped up to around 975fps and it started grouping the hybrids. Great. I've been shooting it for a week or so with that setup, and no issues.
Yesterday, I get a pack of Zan 45.5 grain slugs to try. Didn't touch my tune or anything. Since they were identical weight to the hybrids. They did "okay".
Switched back to hybrids this morning and it is TERRIBLE again. All over the place? I ran a mag of hybrid pellets next as a 'control' and they were nearly shooting the same hole as I expected. So not a dirty barrel issue? What are your thoughts on why it just decided to go to crap shooting hybrids again?

Springer scope rings still moving. Am I missing something???

This is just to share my evening of scope mounting. And then the questions came up...

My springer is a AA TX200 MKIII in .17 along with the Vortek kit, topped with a new Vector Veyron 3-12x44 with what I hope to be the “perfect for me” rings from UTG. They are the UTG PRO low rings (RDU013010) @ 10mm saddle height. They allow the scope bell to sit, no lie, 1mm from the barrel. I dream of this for my FX’s!!!

I discovered this evening that even though I torqued the rings to the dovetail with my Wheeler from 22 i#, in 5 i# increments, to 45 i# (UTG recommends 40 i#). After 3-5 rounds, the recoil has moved the scope rings on the dovetail backwards at every torque setting, even with the stop-pin set fully set forward.

If you know this scope and can see from my photo there is not much wiggle room for scope ring placement.

Does it matter that it moves?

Do I need different rings?

Will they settle in?

I have not tested on the bench after my scope mounting, but would like to hear others experiences.

Here are some photos.

Patrick

Do Yong Heng compressors have a hidden burst disc?

Or did I just blow a piston ring, or seal?

I just filled my first tank bigger than 15ci bottle, a 90ci unit.

Ran it for around 8 minutes or so, got it up to 2000 psi from 500 psi. Let it cool for a good 15 minutes, then ran it to 4000 psi.

I guess I was a little paranoid, so I attempted to shut her off for a cooling break, so I closed the valve on the tank, but couldn't bleed the pressure off the compressor soon enough, and something let go, and now it runs but the air is escaping from somewhere.

Any advice or help from experienced Yong Heng owners and users would be greatly appreciated!

EDIT: I was able to determine the disc has blown, should've done a search here first, my bad -

I took the actual disc from a 3000 psi paintball burst disc, placed it in the yh brass disc holder, and it actually built up some pressure, then blew.

IS THERE A DOMESTIC SOURCE FOR YOUNG HENG BURST DISCS??

Best Semi auto air gun, Ed Gun vs Western Air gun vs Vs Huben vs LCS Air gun SK19

Best Semi auto air gun, Ed Gun vs Western Air gun vs Vs Huben vs LCS Air gun SK19

If I am missing any good air guns let me know.

Please note if I misrepresented any facts below, I apologize.

Purpose: I am looking for this gun for eradication hunting.

Guns I am considering Western airgun sidewinder, Ed Gun Leshy 2, Klibrgun, Huben or styer, LCS 19

So far I like the Western Airgun Sidewinder the best.

Ed gun:

Great gun nice light good history from what I read.

Downside: The magazine only hold 8 also needs filling every 36 to 45 shoots.

I think they make a bigger air bottle

Western Airgun:

According to air guns of Arizona the Western airgun sidewinder 80 shoots at 80 foot pounds give you 900 Feet per second. at 120 foot pounds 30shoots. I read on the website it says 30 to 265 depending on. So a lot of shoots per fill.

Also it has a non fixed magazine

AR grip style allows for custom fit.

LCS:

Has fixed magazine. 75 shoots per fill. I dno not know much else about this gun any other info would be great.

Huben

I heard this is great for long distances. But for eridcation hunting better for long distances.

Styer pro:

Do not know much about this.
