Cursed airgunner

So my FX Maverick i have thrown in under the bed, i really can not deal with that damn gun right now, so i have been using my vulcan 3

BUT ! now it is hexed too.
So the day before yesterday i ran it over the chrony, and saw speeds at 900 FPS, so as i wanted to have a higher speed as a starting point yesterday i turned the hammer spring ever so slightly and shot 5 more shots across the living room and now saw speeds just about 1000 FPS, so that was plenty i figured and put the rifle away.

Then unpacking my Vulcan 3 yesterday,,,,, well somehow without changing anything it would only shoot 580 FPS all of a sudden.

And i am totally at a loss here CUZ i have no idea what could give such a massive drop from 1 shot to the other, well aside for a blown Breech O-ring, but there are no air escaping anywhere when i shoot it.
Putting in a stronger spring i can also get the rifle to shoot a little over 800 FPS but thats also it ( always shooting 13 grain slugs )

Stupid mistake while removing jammed pellets.

The magazine that came with my FX wildcat was not set up properly ( pellet doesn’t advance it smoothly due to low spring power). So, I jammed the barrel with few pellets and I was stupid enough to use one steel rod trying to clear it without even removing the moderator and barrel. Without knowing where the exact location of the jam I applied a mild pressure by hammering it but the pellets never came out 😃😃. After spending a good three days to put the magazine back without success, I realized that the barrel has taken all the pressure and pushed out a piece of metal in the chamber ( picture attached). I filed the protruding metal off but looks so ugly now, lesson learned 😀😀

Greasy Gerry - tick tock….

This is a NV pic of “Greasy Gerry”. He’s a local alpha with a penchant for visiting our grill, removing the drip tray and slurping down the contents like a fine wine. He then settles in to a handful of corn from under the bird feeder for dessert, as pictured.

I’ve asked the local restaurants if they’re interested in a gnarly grease disposal worker, but there’s no takers. So, Greasy Gerry might be stuck with an interview with Mr. Leshiy Classic.

For Use in PCP Rifles Only

After acquiring five .177 blow-back pistols I have resolved to buy nothing but .22 airguns from now on.

I have only fired a few .22 pellets so far but I was startled when I was loading some new magazines today. The H&N can of .22 21.14 gr pellets was marked "for use in PCP rifles only". I bought the can for my new Gamo Swarm DX .22 break-barrel rifle, which is more powerful than a springer and is specified for all sizes of .22 pellets.

But I also have three new .22 pistols which I test-fired with the 21 grain pellets. Luckily none of the pellets stuck when being fired. And their accuracy was good.

Never-the-less it looks like I need to buy some lighter .22 pellets for my Diana CO2 and Crosman pumper pistols, even though they are equipped out as carbine rifles. Any suggestions as to what weight pellet to buy for these .22 pistols?

Should i feel bad ?

Couple months ago the wife and i was gifted two ducklings, after they grew enough we moved them outdoors to a fence and coop, the wife turned them into pets that would follow her around the acreage. Then one morning there was blood every where inside their fence and only one left, still don't know if it was a owl, raccon, possum, or what, but pieces of that duck fell from a 100ft pine tree nearby. So since that i set a monitor to set off a tone in our bed room, a motion detector, and mounted a flash light on my 22cal hatsan flash 1000 fps, now it's almost nightly normally around 3:00 am that a possum and two raccoons get unwanted lead, last nite the raccon kept walking, should i track these critters 3:00 in the morning in my underware or just hope it doesn't return, head shot at 45 yards and only been awake 30 seconds before taking shot is not easy to do. Presently we have 3 ducks and 3 chickens in this coop.

How good is your ranging if you "eye ball" it?

Are your range guesses ever WAY off??

If I guess a range (before confirming with my rangefinder) I am usually pretty accurate inside 200 yards.

Inside 100 yards, I am usually no more than 5-7 yards off....and inside 200 yards I am never really more than 10-13 yards off. BUT today I had a few where I was WAY WAYYYYYY off. Does this happen to you??

I ranged a target that I thought was 80 yards away but it was only 62 yards off, then another which seems to me to be the same distance as the other (so 62 yards) ended up only being 41 yards away!! One ranged way long, the other way short.

Being 20 yards off when the target is only 60 yards away is awful!!! ::embarrassed::

Make me feel better, tell me I am not alone here

Resistance is Futile!

My Good friend Matt stopped by yesterday to assist me in moving some fence I bought.
He told me another Guy had bought an Air Gun. Just a Springer but that's the start of Assimulation!

I gave Matt a beautiful Crosman Quest 1000 .177 and told him to give it to the Guy and invite hime to come shoot with us.
So Thursday They are both coming to my back yard range. Matt is bringing all his AG's so we can give this new Guy the whole show!

He will be assimulated into the Air Gun Collective!
