FOUND Looking For Someone With A .22 L2

I had a custom shroud made by Neil Clauge for my .25 L2 I wasn't getting good groups I didn't see any signs of clipping but possible it was. I am looking for something that has a .22 that I could send it to you if we come to an agreement to test it and see if it works well in the .22 setup so I could recoupe some funds. Let me know

Why is Skout Epoch so loud?

Since my last purchase of Daystate Alpha Wolf Safari went horribly wrong and I'm a sucker for electronic air rifles (Daystate AirWolf was probably the best air rifle I've ever owned) I've turned my attention toward Skout Epoch since it is now out in .25

Most comments states that it is very loud.

Why is that?
Excess air out of the barrel which would mean that it's not economical with air
Badly designed original moderator
Something else...

Anyone in the know that could provide a clear answer?
I did try to search but came up short on the subject

Cut / Chop / Sand ... Another EXTREME FT Pistol build

This JTS Airacuda max .22 was one of the early demo guns from @ 1 1/2+ years ago. i had used it as a Modification and Learning platform shared on GTA as well the Airacuda facebook page. It has been sitting for well over 6 months .. so Cut / Chop / Sand it into a >20 fpe extreme Field target pistol. had nothing into it so why not 😁

Started with removal of the plenum / regulator section, Manufacturing an IN-TUBE holder for the OEM Reg having @ 1/2 the plenum volume as previous. This allowed using the original air tube that will create a FT Pistol right at the max 25" OAL. ( Could not do it with OEM plenum in place )
Cut the barrel to 15" and re-crowned ( No shroud being Barrel max length is 15" )
Chopped the stocks butt off & sanded into shape. cut in a Thumb Up groove for use when off hand. Sliced off the fore stock depth to be at the max 3" from bore C/L.
Stained the wood scars and made a plug for the now omitted front gauge. Rear gauge just shows plenum pressure which is fine, rifle still fills to 220 bar.

It is Legal for PFT in AAFTA or Extreme .. Just legal being at the legal size limits in all measured dimensions.
Runs at 19.8 fpe with a SNAP shot cycle not being overly loud shockingly ;)

Anywho ... here it is 😍

Daystate Red Wolf hold sensitive???

Ok trying to get the Daystate Red Wolf to group. Trying all types of pellets HN 21.1 5.52 and 5.51. JSB 25.3 RD are the only ones working. I tried 18.1 on low power and it hates them. The HN they group ok but not great. With the JSB 25.3 RD I get a few flyers. Then I whiched bags and the groups got better with the JSB 25.3 RD. Weird??? So the Red Wolf that hold Sensitive??? Any opinions 🤔🤔?? This was shooting at 50yards. First picture was shooting with one bag then second picture with second bag I had. I cleaned this rifle very good and have about 200-300 pellets since I cleaned it.

Silly thought from a new guy

What if!
Airgun barrels were truly standardized to inside diameter(i.e., 5.52 for .22) aaand...
Pellets were made sabot style so standardized barrels could seal better aaand....
Eliminate pellets moving down that barrel inconsistently.
I mean, they do it with rifled shotgun barrels....
Just wondering. Is that over-engineered? Am I musing on something that does not need solved? Would that make things too costly?

Cannot help myself. I am wired to ask questions about stuff like this....

EVOL Mini 127 yards

I decided to stretch out my EVOL Mini today to 127 yards since it was a relatively calm day. This is my first time trying it out at this distance. Some of the gear used was a Arken EPL4 6-24x50, JTS Dead Center 18gr pellets unsorted,

Caldwell Turret resting on top of a wobbly folding table. I'm pretty pleased with the results upper half of target I was trying to find my aim point. The 12 shot grouping on lower half of paper 3 of the shots went in the same hole!

50 year old photo - My first and second airguns when I was a kid!

My daughter was cataloging all the old family photos and I saw this one which I had totally forgot about.

Taken in 1970 or 71 while my Dad was stationed in Germany.

The one on the left is my first airgun which is a Daisy Field Master BB gun which my best friend Clay is holding. I was around 8-9 years old when I got it for my birthday so its a few years old by then.
The other I got when in Germany and is a Diana M27. I must have gotten the M27 shortly before the photo.

I looked pretty happy, lol!

I refuse to say BRK

The big wigs in suits knew what they were getting into when they bought out a brand named BroCock. I will not let some marketing department weenie try to church it up by calling it BRK. You bought it, you knew about the snickers and jokes, and now you need to own it. Do not insult us by trying to pull a fast one on the name, as if people will just forget. I won't have it! :ROFLMAO:

You. Are. BroCock!!

My new BRK Ghost .30 cal (first thoughts)

Just got my .30 cal BRK Ghost in and wow what a piece of craftsmanship. Big thanks to Derrick Wall (zx10wall) for getting her all ready before shipment with the trigger job (changing the spring, calibrating the settings, testing it). He then tuned the gun for my ammo of choice which is the 56 grain Zan pellets, and he even did a 30 yard and 50 yard testing for accuracy, and sent me the actual target papers that were shot and a full printout of the chrono readings. After all that, he installed a 700cc tank, and did all the tests all over again. Now that's how you send a gun to a customer.
Also wanna thank franklink and pesty3782 for advising me on what to do and who I needed to hook up with. Thanks guys.

Now how do I feel?......absolutely impressed! The first thing you notice with this gun is the engineering. So much high end machining and metal for an airgun???.....I asked myself why take it this far?.... but after I started to shoot it I realized the answer.... and that is to give you the upmost confidence that this gun will never change on you, never go moody, never do something strange that you can't figure out, never have the dreaded POI shifting, and always be what you need when you need it. That's how you feel when you hold it. It feels like a $2,000 gun. It feels like it will never let you down.

How does it shoot?......amazing. Wherever I put my crosshairs, I could have confidence it was going right there. Did a 1/3 inch group at 50 yards and thought I was special, lol (I'm not, it's the gun). I'm tuned to shoot 56 grain Zans at 875fps. My moderator is making that 885fps, but it's hole in hole at that speed too, so I'm not gonna drop the wheel down. My reg is around 150 bar, power wheel at 18, and pumping out 98 foot pounds of energy very comfortably. The gun doesn't feel tense or strained at all. So I can tell for sure she's capable of 110 foot pounds easy, but I don't need that much power, as I only want to shoot the Zans.

I did some testing with several moderators such as 0DB, Donny, and some others. Surprising as the best accuracy came from the small moderators such as the Tatsu and 110c. And they are very quiet as well (for me). I was very shocked at 100 foot pounds of air energy being suppressed so much by small mods. And both look equally good to me so it's hard to pick which one I'll run. I'll put both pics down below at bottom of this post.

Speaking of tanks, I have a 700cc bottle and as you can tell from the pics below the "fattest" moderator you can do is the size of the Tatsu. Of course you can go as long as you want, but width will be your limiting factor (unless you can create an adapter extension on the muzzle). Actually I like the look of the Tatsu over the 0DB, so I'm glad it shot better (I'll put both pics up). I think it has something to do with that fatness kind of matching the bottle a little better for overall design flow.
At near 100 foot pounds of energy, I'm getting 50-60 shots a fill. That's pretty great...because you have to remember I'm turning the power up for much bigger pellets. Most people are gonna shoot the 44's at 75 foot pounds, so that would be a ton of shots for me if I did that, lol. I wouldn't be surprised if it was near double, haha.

Scope I'm using the Athlon Midas Tac HD and boy did I pick right on that one. Good glass, good weight, and exceptional turret control.
I bought the Midwestern Elite High Capacity mag and I love it!. Fill 2 of these up (44 shots in .30 cal), and I'm ready to shoot the entire tank. The lower cals get more shots per mag btw.
So many people told me not to skimp on the bipod, and I'm so glad I didn't. The AccuTac bipod is niiiiiccceee. I just couldn't see how a $300 bipod could be worth that price.... yep, I was wrong, lol. It even made my wife eyes buck when she played with it. (Yeah I could word that better, but I won't, lol).

I love the way the gun feels when I shoot off hand. The weight is from the middle to rear which allows me to hold the gun easily with the extended arm. This is why i love bullpups so much. I do understand some people saying it's a little heavy, but I get why....the tradeoff in the quality of build is worth the extra pound over its competitors.
The trigger squeezes so nice and easy. Derrick has it set at an 8oz second stage and the gun does not have much recoil, so you feel real good about not "throwing the shot". Overall I'm impressed with the way it shoots and handles in my hands and on the bench.

The only gripe I have about anything is BRK sending that female fill connect that I can't use, lol. I got ready to fill my gun back up and couldn't, and boy was I sitting there looking like a big dummy. It never dawned on me to check to see if I had what I needed to fill the gun, lol. So should this be a gripe, or is this just my fault? Lol, I don't know, but I bought an Air Venturi adapter and hopefully that'll get me back going (I'll post both pics right below this paragraph)...
maleadapter.jpg

^^^^This is the connect it came with. I have nothing to hook that up with to my compressors, lol.

femaleadapter.jpg

^^^^This is what I'm hoping with fix that problem. Should be in tomorrow.

Well back to the gun..... here are the pics I mentioned with two moderators showing the difference in looks with the 700cc bottle.

brkghost2.jpg

brkghost.jpg

All in all I think she looks great. The 700cc bottle is not instrusive to the look at all on the HP models. It actually looks clean to me especially in person.

This is a solid gun. You will not go wrong here. This is one of those guns that may not be for everyone, but no one will say you made the wrong decision in buying it. And that's saying something.

Well thanks for reading my thread, and be safe everyone.

PCP Rifle  SOLD FX Dreamline Tact Compact .177

This rifle is in excellent condition and is currently tuned for 10.3 grain pellets shooting at 885 fps. It’s is very accurate at that tune and is fun to shoot. Quiet with the stock moderator as well.

I had it tuned shooting around 12 FPE and it’s very accurate at low power as well.

Comes with a Hogue adjustable AR stock. My collection has become too big, and I need to downsize.

.25 Caliber Skout Epoch - Hype or the "Real Thing" - My Take

After studying for months, and after some very positive comments by Scott Schneider @ Motorhead, I decided to add a .25 Skout Epoch to my collection. Other than a few videos, mostly by the manufacturer, there really isn't much information online, so I thought I would let you know "my take" after an extensive set-up and tuning experience.

First, the purchase experience. Over the last few months, I have placed a few orders for airgun ammunition from The Pellet Shop, with nothing but total satisfaction experienced on my end. They were advertising the .25 as available in the 35" barrel configuration, which was my preference, at no additional cost. After trading a few missed calls from each other, Ben and I finally connected. He answered my questions, we agreed that the rifle would be tuned to shoot the JSB King Heavy MKIIs between 910 fps and 920 fps, and I gave him payment information. Within a very reasonable time period, and with several update e-mails coming through during the process, the rifle arrived, perfectly packed, and included a T-shirt and his trademark package of oreo cookies.

I unboxed the rifle and mounted a spare Vortex Diamondback 6-24x50 FFP on top of Eagle Vision adjustable rings. As I set the rifle up, I was very impressed with the finish detail in every regard. There are more adjustments than anyone could ever want, and more information available to the shooter than on any other rifle I own (with 30+ in the vault). The foster fitting fill port is very easy to get to. The magazine is by far the most robust, best designed magazine I have experienced to date, and holding 25 shots in .25 caliber, should meet anyone's requirements.

After placing the rifle on a V-sandbag on top of the indoor range shooting bench, I proceeded to sight it in at 18 yards. The Labradar unit placed the velocity at 914 FPS, exactly as I had requested it to come from Ben at the Pellet Shop. The trigger arrived extremely light to the touch with a very clean break. I have not adjusted it to this point, simply worked to get used to it. I am learning to like it a lot. The rifle also arrived with the rifle set-up in the "match" mode of the three available electronic modes. It works perfectly. I also like the electronic safety, where it is positioned, and the manner in which it lights up when in the firing mode. The moderator seems to be perfectly adequate to me in terms of noise reduction at the report. I have not gotten my decibel meter out yet, but it seems to be in line with all of my other rifles that have various makes of well known moderators in use.

Unfortunately, for such a short indoor distance, the first ten shot test groups were totally unsatisfactory to me. They were running between .60" and .80" in diameter. All of the other "premium" tuned FX, RAW, Daystate, Kalibregun, AA, BSA, Brocock, Weihrauch rifles in my vault will shoot an 18 yard indoor range 10 shot group of .05" to .40." To say I was disappointed was an understatement. It came with the "standard" zero barrel liner installed.

I checked my Raw, Daystate, and FX data for the velocity of those rifles with the same weight pellet. They were all shooting between 880 and 890 fps. I adjusted the Epoch to an average of 884, and the groups diminished in size to about .5", better but still not great. Next, thinking that the pellets were probably to loose in the bore, I installed the "-1" barrel liner - a piece of cake to perform the swap. By the way, Skout has posted an entire series of terrific technical videos that really help one get acquainted with the rifle from the start. To my disappointment, with this liner in place, the groups opened back up again. I was really sick at this point, thinking I had spent $3K for rifle that just wasn't going to perform. I called it quits that evening and went to bed, thinking about the issues most of the night.

The next afternoon after work, I went back to the work shop and switched out the -1 liner for the +1 liner. Amazingly, the groups dropped to an average of .30" with one group coming in at only .10" c-t-c for 10 shots. I was finally getting somewhere. This does confirm the ability of this rifle to be specifically tuned to individual ammunition requirements. Previously, one would have to find different ammunition that works or be out of luck.

Some of you may wonder why I set-up at only 18 yards. I find that if a rifle won't shoot at close range, it won't shoot at long range. Additionally, having the indoor range takes out a number of variables including wind, light, etc. Finally, I can work on set-up at any time, day or night, in constant conditions. And it really doesn't matter what the close zero is, as long as your far zero and every point in between are perfectly noted in the dope chart.

Next, I ordered a UTG over the bore bipod to attach to the M-lok rails and a Vortex Bubble Level. They came in and were installed by the weekend, and I moved to the outdoor range. My max outdoor range at home is 86 yards. I was getting solid 8 shot core groups out of the total 10 shots at 86yards, but always experiencing one or two flyers out to 1" to 1 1/2" I finally decided to weigh and sort some pellets. I took 1/2 tin of JSB King Heavy MKIIs and started weighing them, finding them to vary up to 2 full grains in weight. I sorted out 25 pellets to within 33.90 and 34.00 grains and guess what, the flyers disappeared, resulting in the 85 yard group found below, probably one of the best I have ever shot.

In summary, I believe this rifle, is one of the best engineered rifles in my stable. The FX Panthera is in its own performance class, more powerful, and extremely accurate with the matched slugs. This also is not to take anything away from all of the other terrific air rifles on the market today. However, don't be afraid to spend the money for the Epoch rifle. It is easy to adjust both in terms of power and ergonomics, with the multiple barrel liners one should be able to maximize the performance with about any projectile, and the electronic platform is terrific. With the technical information they provide, Skout seems very committed to providing excellent service and a terrific customer experience. I am pleased that I made the investment.

As I know the question will come, I have not attempted to shoot slugs through it yet. I am getting such great results with pellets, that I haven't gone there. However, depending upon the information I get back from Skout that I forwarded yesterday, in terms of engineered velocity capabilities, if I can verify that I can get in the range of 1030 to 1050 with a 33 grain to 40 grain slug, you can expect me to experiment with such soon.

If you have other questions, feel free to write and I will attempt to respond.

Starlings got lucky….

Went for a great Fathers Day tandem ride with my wife and came back home to relax the day away. Those four starlings got lucky as I was feeling peaceful. Typically at my permissions I give no quarter. The Atomic XR was willing and able, chomping at the bit, me? I must be getting old and soft. They were about 30 yards away… easy picking for the Atomic XR.
