Snow dogs nipping at my heels!

The weather here in Boise has been pretty mild, I have been able to use my FT range in the mountains a little longer this year. But The snow dogs are coming! projected snow in the forecast this week, so I'm going to go shoot a session today and take down the targets for the season. 17 degrees this morning the hi will be 37 this afternoon. I'm grateful to have a place to setup my FT range and shoot (mining claim) and to be able to do some mining all in the same day.

Taipan  Original vet leak

Ok vet folks, I discovered my original vet long has developed a slow leak after 5 years use, how dare it! LOL! I changed the o ring at the back of the air tube between the PP and the block. This gun does not have many o rings and it leaks about 40 bar of pressure overnight, say 12 hours. Gun was decocked at this time. So, which o rings do I go for next? The replacement o ring kit is small , think 5 rings total, 2 are for the probe, 1 for the back of the air tube, 1 for the reg, my guess is the last one is for the air gauge in the front of the tube. Am I on the right track? I know this should be easy, but the gun has been so reliable, I forgot a lot. Just don't want to have to degass and do breakdown and reassemble several times. Yes, I'm lazy. I don't mind working on a gun, but prefer shooting them instead! LOL! Thanks

HW/Weihrauch  HW30 black

*I have a 30 black in .177. It was shooting nicely when I first got it. I took it apart to clean and grease job until a spring comes along.
Now when jacking it doesn’t catch. When I take the stock off I can jack it. I shoot the round out , put stock back on won’t catch. I’ve taken the trigger out a half dozen times. Keep getting same results.
Any suggestion?

I am the oddball... I want FFP scope with at least 30+ zoom and 10 yards focus/parallax

I have an Aim Sports Alpha 6 4.5-27x50 SFP on my Fortitude .177 and nearly always have it at the max, 27x, zoom. Even as close as 10 yards.

I have an Athlon Argos Gen1 8-34x56 FFP on my Akela .177 and nearly always have it at the max, 34x, zoom. Even as close as 15 yards.

When lighting conditions and time allow, I always prefer to take my shots, even at very close range, at max zoom.

I am the oddball and I know it
. However, I would like to hear from you folks.

What is available in FFP that has at least 30+ max zoom and 10 yards to infinity focus/parallax.

Yes, price IS an object, but if the glass is good, and it can hold zero, that is all I need. I use holdover and don't intend to click for range.

Price range is "cheap". (smile)

Under $500, preferably MUCH less than that.

Thanks!

All my best!

Kerry

Crosman Two Stage Trigger

After scouring the web for info on 1377 trigger mods I seen a YouTube video about the 1701P trigger ass being a direct bolt in as long as the hammer is changed. I got the assembly from Crosman and the fluted hammer needed from a seller on eBay and all I can say is wow. So smooth and shooting at 30 yards today with JSB, RWS, H&N and even Crosman pellets it was shooting 1/2 inch groups from my Caldwel Matrix rest.

Other  Ripley Rifle AR5

Ripley Rifle AR5

Hello all, I currently have ever only owned a Beeman R9 break action air rifle. I recently came into possession of this Ripley PCP rifle and know zero about them as a PCP and as a company. Some research online seems that they are a top notch quality bespoke rifle out of the UK. However I am in the US. I want to make sure this rifle is up to par and safe to use (as it appear to be almost 20 years of age). Does anyone know of a place near Philly/Jersey/NY that can service this thing and more importantly reach me how to use it?

Airgun Van Spotted Pulling Trailer Both Decked Out in Wraps Displaying Airgun Brands and AOA Logo

I was out and about today taking care of some things when I saw a Precision Airgun Distribution van pulling into a truck stop. I almost hit a U-turn in the middle of the highway, but looked them up instead. Yes I know this is an unsafe driving practice, but anyhow. I called the number I found online and spoke to a rep. I figured there was an event in the area that I was unaware of. I got excited. When I called and explained that I'd seen the van and trailer in the area I wanted to see if there was a local event. I was then told that the even was an EFT event in Florida. If I'm not mistaken, I was told that Tristan from Atlas Airguns was putting the event together. Oh well....

Airgun Technologies  22 Vulcan 3 with new Talon tunes chassis

Well I finally bit the bullet and order the chassis for my Vulcan 3. This gun is a hammer that I got from Derrick and shoots amazing with slugs. It's my close(<100yds) coyote buster and also my prs rifle. All it's lacking is the fat bastard weights I ordered and the 700mm bottle that will get put on this weekend at Ron's Textreme.

Taipan  Taipan Vet2 bottle version 700mm barrel .....my 2 cents .....

I have been looking at a Taipan for a while. Something different but no tinkering just load and shoot. Well Tony (talon tunes) hooked me up with a great rifle. This thing is very accurate at 50 yards with 25cal. slugs JSB KO 34 and 100 yards. Yeah yeah the manual says to air the rifle to 250 bar but I been going to 285-290 bar getting a 100 shots per fill ...this gun is very quiet for the amount of energy this thing is producing. I let you math guys figure that part out ... All I can say is if anyone looking for a hell of a slug gun in 25 cal this is it!!!

FX  Advice on getting deeper into FX impact

I'm pretty new to PCP rifles, but I've been lurking around forums for awhile reading. I have a Flashpup QE, but I'm looking for something a lot more capable (it's fine but feels like a starter rifle). The FX Impact and the platform in general looks extraordinarily appealing to me, but I don't understand it all yet and have a few questions on how to get started.

I have some interest in the flexible aspects of the M3 and the ability to change barrels, setups, etc. but I'm curious what some of the true "best practices" have yielded regarding this flexibility. I get the impression that while it's flexible, many still prefer to have multiple rifles instead of constantly changing setups. Is this a correct impression on what most of you do? Is it a big deal to swap back and forth between pellets and slugs of the same caliber on one rifle or does it get cumbersome? I've gathered it might not be worth swapping between calibers, but it's not as clear to me how feasible it is to often swap between pellets and slugs on the same gun on 1 caliber.

I'm asking because I have some interest in dabbling in slugs to explore shooting some longer ranges. It seems like it's definitely a capable slug gun, but I wouldn't expect to only want to shoot slugs.

What are your experiences on the FX M3 platform and the true practical side of its flexibility?

PCP Rifle  SOLD Extremely Rare - SWIFT Rapid in .25 caliber *Priced to Sell*

Up for grabs!!!

20220809_131925.jpg

It is a truly unique full custom build with the highest quality materials created by master craftsman Ernie “Swift” Olsen.

The receiver by Gordon Dawson, is based on the Theoben Rapid MK2 with improved specs, and a larger plenum. It’s made of 7075 aluminum, and has a milled weaver rail on top. The minimalistic aluminum stock by Ernie Swift has two anchor points, and sports a weaver rail below for a bi-pod (or accessory). The Magpul adjustable stock (with cheek riser) allows the OAL to be changed from 38'' to 41.5''

swift build 10.jpg

swift build 7.jpg

The trigger by Gordon Dawson is a dual stage competition grade ceramic ball bearing unit that is butter smooth and breaks crispy clean.

swift build 6.jpg

The barrel made by Lothar Walther, is a 17’’ hand-lapped .25 caliber choked polygon barrel.

swift build 3.jpg

swift build 2.jpg

Ernie also made the shroud, which extends 7'' past the muzzle. The shroud is made from a 1 & 5/8 carbon fiber tube with a pressed and fused aluminum insert. The internals consist of several different baffles and an air stripper.

swift build 8.jpg

swift build 9.jpg

The aluminum bottle is rated at 200b working pressure, 300b test pressure. So, here’s a shot chart using JSB 25 grains pellets and a 200b fill. 3 full magazines, 36 shots, ES 20, SD 6, Ave FPS 887, Ave FPE 44.

What it isn't
This airgun is not regulated, it is not the most powerful, it is not externally adjustable, and it does not have dozens of o-rings or tiny fragile parts.

What it is
This airgun does everything extremely well. It is very accurate, quiet, reliable, comfortable, efficient, easily serviceable, and has an amazing trigger. I had Martin (RAW) go through the entire rifle about 2 years ago, and he said he was thoroughly impressed.

I am the 2nd owner. The original owner paid over $6k to have this built. I’ve only seen 2 others in existence, but I believe there are at least 5 ;)

I told myself that I’d never sell this airgun… yet here we are. Now is your chance to own an extraordinarily unique full custom (one-of-a-kind) build that’s not only a collector, an heirloom, but it’s also a delightful shooter. Serial #0005

Asking $1999 shipped in a hard case to CONUS.

Serious inquiries only. Includes 1 magazine, heavier spring, cheek riser. Does not include scope, mounts, or bipod shown in pictures.
