Tuning issues with regulator

Hello again folks been doing some tuning with my .177 pp700sa. I ordered huma reg and just rec'd. I want to be able to shoot slugs and I think I'm almost there but almost but maybe not. Ok so I put the reg in and I put it at 145lbs. The hammer spring screw used to be flush and now I screwed in 3/4 of the screw is covered or down, there is just enough to barely turn with wrench. SO I filled the tank right at a line before it turns red 20bar. My first shot is only 469fps then slowly by 10 shots im at 500fps. The gauge has hardly moved. Velocity keeps going up, by 15bar im at 600fps and climbing and this time at 25 shots. Around 32 shots im hitting 700fps and it hovers there until 40 shots then it starts to go down finally and I stop at 45 shots and at 650fps. At this point im at 10bar. Im shooting JSB match beast at 16.20gr.

How do I get more of a straight line with the higher velocity rather than a hill of starting very low then going up to the very high.

When you put the reg at a certain value is this where I should fill the tank to to get consistent shots? I have no clue. I hope someone can help? Should I lessen the tension of the hammer spring or should I increase the reg?

Hard "slugs" and pellets

I hear a lot of people in the air gun world make statements about shooting harder slugs wearing barrels out rapidy. I even see comments about pellets having a bit of antimony worry about wearing barrels. I have a decent collection of century old powder Burning single shot rifles from before the turn of the century to about 1920 that have countless thousands of rounds with harder bullets and the guns still retain gilt edge accuracy. The only wear you often see on these is from the powder heat in the throat forward of the end of the case. The metalurgy of these barrels is not what we have today I would think they would be on par with modern air gun barrels, but that's just a guess.

Has anybody done a real test and measurement to see if the statements about barrel wear in air rifles and harder bullets are true?
I had a .50 Texan and I put about 3000 rounds of linotype bullets(22bhn) down the tube And I could not see any sign wear with my gunsmiths Hawkeye bore scope, nor an accuracy fall off.

im not trying to start an argument, just looking for data .

PCP Rifle  SOLD Brocock commander xr .22

I have a super nice commander for trade. Scope can be included. Comes with 3D printed high capacity mag and standard mag. Looking for .177 m3 or crown or daystate redwolf. Adding cash is no problem if needed. If you get scope I can give data over and all the holdover for dial shooting. Accuracy is a given with brocock.

Empty chamber indicator

I am fortunate in having access to an up to 50 yd indoor that accepts airgun owners. I shoot primarily a Vet .25 ,a Royale in .22 and a Crossman 1701P. I have been using a very small zip tie as an empty chamber indicator but worry I could damage the breach o-ring or possibly the transfer port due to the hard irregular nature of the zip tie. Wondering what everyone else is using. Range masters are very versatile.

Beeman  Kodiak Island

After receiving my latest rifle...a Beeman Kodiak. 22, I couldn't help but to break out my other two in .25 caliber for a group photo. Far left is the .25 Springer, in the middle is the .22. Far right is the .25 gas ram version. They're all different in the way they feel when fired. But one thing in common is they all are powerful and kick a little. Enjoy!
When these rifles first arrived on the scene in the 80s, they were touted as the most powerful airguns made. The 10 pound, very robust yet beautiful at the same time power house Kodiak ruled the Beeman roost.
English craftsmanship oozes from the deep black bluing. It breaks and closes smoothly with a reassuring click. Very Webley!

Accessories  SOLD RAW Sporter Stock Laminate dyed walnut for sale

Hi Guys,

My HM1000X sold recently so I still have the sporter stock that I modified for sale.

It started life as a grey laminate sporter stock, and like with so many things I found things that
I felt I could improve upon.

First was the trigger guard, as it comes from RAW I would get a sore spot on my trigger finger
from the square edge that it comes with.

So after some careful measurements and double checking those measurements I found I could
replicate the open trigger guard of an LRT stock which I love.

After some careful cutting and sanding I got exactly the result I wanted.

So the next step was getting rid of the common Gray Laminate because the pattern was SO strong on this particular stock, that
I nicknamed it the Psychedelic Zebra.

To cut the story down I will say after some experimentation I got the color Walnut that I wanted and then did multiple coats of
Formbys Tongue Oil to get the desired finish.

I am looking for $450 for the stock.

Let me know if you have any questions,
Terry Mc

Air Venturi  Avenge X .22 Tuning help needed

Greetings AGN,
New to the group and my first post. I'm new to PCP but not new with shooting airguns so I do have a few questions on fine tuning my new Avenge X. Went with the Classic in .22, mounted a Talos BTR Gen 2 ,have a Donny FL RYU mounted as well and shooting JSB Heavy Diabolo 18.13gr. So out of the box stock does anyone know what the FPS is from factory? I did find one video from Nate at Airgun Channel doing a review that indicated his was around 950fps, just curious if others have found this to be true? It also sounds like the best accuracy and performance for this platform might be around 890fps, wondering if this is true?

I've got this one dialed in pretty good at 45yds but the frustrating part is that my POI seems to move on me from time to time, about 1-2" on windage. I reluctantly made corrections only to find 10 shots later it needs to go back to where it was. I've checked my scope and mount and yes they are tight. I'm curious if this could be caused by a high out of the box setting and maybe the hammer needs to be dialed down a bit. If so can this be done realistically without a chrono?

My regulator seems to hang out around 2000psi, does this sound about right? So far I'm just thru my first can of 500 pellets. Appreciate any help or advice on fine tuning this in.

FX  Crown Nirvana...

Had posted earlier on what I think is a gorgeous Impact I own and so now I've secured what I consider to be Crown nirvana as well...

The same kind person responsible for my Impact also made this Crown possible so THANK YOU!

I've got this one tuned for lower power. JSB 18gr at 22FPE. Havent done a full string, but should get a good number of shots at that level.

Had always loved the look of the shorter Crowns and in particular with the GRS stock so when the opportunity came to get a short Crown, I was fortunate enough to do so. Found the stock here on AGN and fell in love and so grabbed it up. Got the stock today and everything bolted up. Dont want to take it out to shoot today because as you can see in the pic, it's misting rain a little, but did want to snap a pic!

Tuning  What are your go-to mods for budget PCP's?

Hey y'all,

I want to create a "one-stop shop" for go-to PCP mods that people have used to reliably increase the performance of their PCP's. I'd like the focus to be budget PCP's and modifications that don't necessarily rely on aftermarket support. I have spent an absurd amount of time searching the forums and thought I'd make it easier for other "tinker"-minded airgunners.

So far I have:

1. Polish the barrel
1a. Recrown if necessary
2. Port/Radius TP and other air flow channels
3. Polish contact surfaces (hammer, bolt/side lever, etc.)
4. SSG/SSS/TSS (reduce/eliminate hammer bounce)
5. Add a regulator

What else can we add to this list?

GX CS4 grease..

My grease pot is empty ( didn't think I turned it that much ) and I was wondering is anyone knows what the best grease is? Not sure if greases want to be mixed but probably not that important if both are synthetic... EDIT.. It's not empty.. The rubber gasket was stuck inside that pot you take odd and all buggered up. Grease pot is actually almost full meaning the grease isn't getting into the machine.

  • Question
RAW Rapid  First time RAW owner with some questions

I received my .25 RAW Hm1000x yesterday and I have a few questions.

I did a search, and it looks like there are a couple different answers but the 480cc carbon tank says it's good to 250bar but the manual says to only fill to 230bar. It's no big deal to only fill to 230 if that is what the specs call for, but I did see some people that said the reg and the tank can both handle 250bar without a problem.

I ordered a left-hand rifle because I will only be shooting benchrest and wanted the cocking lever on the left side. On the left hand rifles the fill port is actually on the left side of the rifle but I would rather have it on the right side. From the vids I have watched it looks like you can just remove the tank and flip the port and gauge around, so they are on the opposite sides, is that correct?

Last question is what moderator should I go with to quiet this rifle down some? Looking for the best bang for the buck.
