Introduce myself

Hello, thank you for letting in this group! I am a rathunter (almost 60 years old) in the Netherlands living in the northern parts called Friesland. My main proffesion is a hooftrimmer with the cows. There are a lot agriculture farms were i doing pestcontrol such as rathunting and pigeons. I am shooting yearly about 800 rats with my 2 pcp rifles namely a fx impact mk2 .22 with a Pard ds 35 -50 nightvision scope and one fx impact m3 .25 with a thermal scope from hikmicro a panther pq 35 2.0. Also i am getting a Urugan two .22 for schooting slugs! I hope to learn here (shootings slugs) on this forum!

Greetings Rathunter

FX  Tuning question for the group

I have noticed that average pellet speeds have dropped slightly over a shooting session, with each successive magazine. Average speed dropped from 887fps to 872 fps.
Also, an occasional very slow(20-25fps from average)pellet speed has sometimes occurred but this is not a “regular” occurrence! The gun is a .22 Maverick compact shooting unlubed 15.9 FX pellets.

Any thoughts on what might cause this phenomenon? For context, I recently replaced the second(latest iteration)AMP reg and the breech seal, both lubed well.

Any thoughts from the group could help my tuning/maintenance would be appreciated!

OKCGC AirHeads had their April 20th ”X” Field Target match, and we had a blast. Shooting out to 100 yards is really cool!!! The weather guys said it would rain for sure on that day. But we the AirHeads said, nope we are having the match. Guess what, no rain and it was really a good day. We did have winds at 15mph with gusts up to 30mph! We also built more targets with some different shaped KZ’s, hehehe! We heard words like WHAT and OH GREAT from the shooters! I love it! It made for a fun match and they liked it! We set out 15 targets, shooting at them 4 times each for a 60-round match.

Caleb Dickerson came in 1st with a 53 with his hyped up Daystate. Rick Cuccio was 2nd shooting a score of 50 with his FX Royale and 3rd as Mr. Thom Davies with a 49 also using a FX Royale. Congratulations to you guys.

We had 14 shooters come out even with the prediction of rain, things just seem to work out at times for the good…

We are looking forward to the next “X” Field Target match…

Great seeing everyone!!!

Crosman  362 Anniversary Muzzle Device

Hey Friends,

Now that the 362 anniversary editions are coming down to reasonable prices I'm tempted, but had a question.

Is the muzzle break/device removable? My 362, and 3622 have quite a bark and need to be moderated. I think the donny fl disco adapter would work but I'm unclear how the original device attaches. Is it removable? If so grub screw or the usual crosman glue/lock tite?

Thanks!

Airgun Technologies  25 Cal. Vulcan 3 with a 500mm barrel.

I was talking to Derrick @zx10wall about a 25 cal rifle for pesting. I have 177's, 22's, a 30, but no 25 cal rifles....Derrick said he had a Vulcan 3 in 25 cal with a 500mm barrel and he could set it up for the 25 grain pellets as I requested. So while the wife and I were on our road trip, we met Derrick and got the Vulcan from him.

I got home and went through all my extra things and found a red UTG 1 piece mount and an Athlon Midas Tac. Put everything together and went outside to sight it in.

So after getting the Vulcan on paper at 20 yards I went out to 50 yards. The left target is 7 shots and the right target is 10. The shot string is something to behold for sure. 40 shots with an ES of 9 FPS and SD of 2.2 FPS. I was shooting the JSB 25.39.

Man Derrick knows his way around a trigger. Just liked we talked about, a short first stage and a very light second stage with no creep. Super smooth and nice.

Still need more time behind the trigger, but I am impressed so far.

Kral Arms  I happened upon a slug gun

so my 22 bottle gun I made needed a stock since it was sharing the bighorn stock with my 357 np03 bottle gun.

I ended using one of the mauser stocks I picked up a month ago. I was in a hurry and honestly didn't care, so I just cut the stock and inletted for the action block.

Came up with this for now. I will add some wood back around the drop block and give it a darker stain, kind of like a BSA R10 or something. That's right where I want to grip it, so I gotta cover that block.

I got home and wanted to try the H&N slug samplers I got for the 60 fpe rifle I built that's now in limbo. This rig was currently shooting 21 grain baracuda 5.52s at 850ish, so I matched that up with the 21 grain .218 which is 5.53mm

Go outside and the neighbor is out. He's totally chill about shooting, but had company so I abstained. Lucky I got a chance right at sundown. I was surprised to see the 21s were one hole at 15 yards, so I pushed out to 25 yards and it stayed to pretty much one ragged hole, even with the crappy scope and low light.

I tossed in some 23 gr to see how they'd do, and they shot just a half mildot lower but still center left to right. These kral barrel usually fight me with slugs.

I tested over the chrony, and the 21s are still holding 850 fps which I found interesting, since usually when I try slugs they are slower than their same weight pellet counterpart.

I ordered a 4-12x40 BSA Sweet 22 scope to replace the CVLife 3-9x40 that's on there. It's the same size and the sunshade should fit too. I've had positive luck with the Sweet 2-7x32, very good scope for the money, so I hope it's bigger brother doesn't disappoint.

Oh yeah, this guy is exactly 36" long, weighs maybe 6.5lbs but front heavy(300 bar thick aluminum bottle), and has a pretty quiet report. Thankfully the bottle doesn't ping really bad like my 25 and 357.

Further testing, pics, and groups to come!

Compressors  NLA Airtex 45 compressor $2500

Selling my back up compressor. Its a beast and heavy duty. Runs great. They were designed on around a slow RPM(1100 rpm ) for durability but still puts out 4.2 CFM. It only has 8.3 hrs on the clock. Would really like it to picked up so we can fill a couple tanks and talk airguns. I'm in Prescott AZ so if your in driving distance and want it let me know. Asking $2500 or best offer.

PCP Rifle  SOLD Special Edition 2022 Huben K1 .25

I really enjoy the huben platform but I came to the realization I don't need 2 I have a 22 and a .25 amd the 25 is the one that can go. It has little little use as my smaller calibers get more use for backyard pesting. It was bought brand new from Kelly at krazcool and he is amazing the customer service he offers is amazing. This is a beautiful wood stock with great patterns. It was come with the moderator adapter, updated easy access loading gate, my favorite picatinny rail that contours to the stock, and best of all in my opinion is my laser etched magazine I had done. It will come boxed like it came from Kelly. It was shooting hades and baracuda hunters great but shines with slugs and the 33.95gr jsbs. The stock has no scratches but I have holes in the upper forend so I could swap between bipod and tripod. The Tripod sits much better closer to the trigger. Scope and moderator is not included but can add a tin of 33.95gr to get you going as soon as you open it. I love the huben guns but currently I just don't need 2. $1950TYD US locations

FX  FX Crown, turn it down to how much?

Hi
I am trying to find out how much I can turn a full-speed FX Crown down.

I will be hunting small birds outside and inside buildings, so I need to be able to turn the power down when shooting inside.
I do not want to damage the inside of the building if I miss a shot :)

Any youtube videos or other info on the topic you can recommend?

Mock FT match with my boys

I was cleaning up my gunroom and came across the notes from the little mock ft match me and my boys had on a Saturday in late January a couple months ago.

Just at my house so no cool destination. And we've only got a handful of the Air Venturi Rat on the Run targets, so that's what we used. We set up 5 of them, in the following manner.

Lane 1- 1.5" kz @ 31 yards for a 20.7 Troyer
Lane 2- 1.5" kz @ 53 yards for a 39.8 Troyer
Lane 3- 0.5" kz @ 12 yards for a 24 Troyer
Lane 4- 1.5" kz @ 44 yards for a 29.3 Troyer ("shoot the gaps")
Lane 5- 1" kz @ 30 yards for a 30 Troyer ("firewood alley)

If the math on my 4 month old notes is correct, that's an overall Troyer of 28.76, and I applied the 1.25 factor for "windy" b/c it certainly was that day, and I'm getting a Troyer of 36.

We shot each target twice, and were freezing our butts off so had a halftime that consisted of going inside for some hot chocolate. After thawing out a bit we went through again so a total of 20 possible points. Cabe's biggest challenges so far have been set up and target acquisition , so getting set up a total of 10 times was good practice for him.

Cabe turned 6 a few months ago and Colben is 10. Colben has been shooting ft since about Cabe's age, and is gonna catch me here pretty quick. Cabe is doing better than Colben did at this age.

Fun way to spend a couple hours on a Saturday. Kept em busy and off electronic devices for awhile.

Daystate  My most rewarding trickshot

Hello Airgunners,

I am not the best marksman in the world but like to do a trick shot every now and then.

This is still one of my shots I like the most.

Shot with Daystate Red Wolf .22 and a MTC ffp scope. Just backyard stuff.

Enjoy!

If you like to post your trickshot feel free to inspire me and others.

Looking forward to see your shots.

Pest control - RAW HM1000x or FX Crown

This is my first dive into airgun, so I apologize if my language here is not yet 100% there yet… I’m in need of an airgun for some urban pest control (25 to 50 yards in my backyard, pest are small birds), but I would also like to stretch it out to 150+ yds for target shooting in a PRS type environment… I’m all about centerfire and rimfire rifles, but given this pest control I need to do is in my backyard (urban area) I think an airgun is the perfect solution, and that my main driver and main objective here.

I’ve done some research and apparently the RAW HM1000x and the FX Crown in 22cal may fit the bill perfectly, hence those are my 2 main options right now.

Would you agree? Would a .25cal be better suited for the task at hand? Would I be able to use a moderator to tame down the sound?

Thanks in advance guys! 👍🏻
