BSA  BSA R10 SE .22 New spring for higher shot count

Hello All,
I had a big win with a new spring on my BSA R10 SE in .22. The stock setup was getting about 32 shots on the regulator., and I didn't think this was enough, so I started looking at adding a SSG. I had seen some designs of SSG that would work, but they required cutting a hole in the stock at the back the receiver. I really wanted to keep the stock look of the gun. I then started looking into a short stiffer spring that would prevent striker bounce. I evaluated the stock spring in the spring calculation software see attached files for spring data. I then looked at what the bolt motion requirements were, and found that a spring that was 1.5" long should do the trick, and it needed to have a rate of 37 lbs/in. I found this spring on McMaster Carr, part number 94125K211.

This spring drops right in. It was a little snug on the spring guide, but it fit well.
After installing this spring, I adjusted the spring to provide 875 fps with JSB 15.9 grain pellets, and was able to get 50 shots on the regulator. This was my goal, and I am very pleased with the results.
I think the efficiency is almost as good as adding a SSG, and there was no need to modify any part or the stock. The only down side, is the spring is stiffer, and requires more effort to cock the rifle. I'll take that for the increased shot count.

Good luck if you try this modification.
Best regards,
Mike

Daisy  1934 Buck Jones restoration

I have had this gun all my life. It belonged to a relative and I found it in the garage. I remember it working and shooting bottles with it. I even shot my neighbor in the chest when he surprised me by jumping out with a knife. It left a red mark on his chest.
At some point over the last fifty years I lost the shot tube. So it has always sat in the back of the gun safe.

I looked for parts like seals for year and found nothing. And I found the hard parts are very difficult to come by.

I have been looking for a used shot tube but can’t find anything. Till now. E bay has an old broken Buck jones for parts . The stock is ruined but the shot tube is there. If I can get it I will have one gun I can take apart and use to figure out how to fix my gun.

Don’t want to do a full restoration just fix it.

PCP Rifle  SOLD $1500 - FX Impact M3 PCP Rifle in .22 - 600 MM - Some Upgrades

Hi,

(I have more pictures but there are server errors I am fighting.)

Asking: $1500 free shipping (CONUS only) on me. Local pickup ok zip 33449.

- Bought it new from Utah AG in 7/2022. FX Impact M3 + Power Block - Black 600mm (standard). It was $2124 at my door then, retails $1900 now.
- BC FX Impact w/clamp shroud and tensioning kit (was $200 plus install). So the carbon is not a wrap but an actual carbon.
- Upgraded HUMA regulator (2nd stage I think) is installed. I think that was another $200 or so. I would have to look. Works great! It did not fully eliminate the initial shot phenomena that all FX has but I was told it needs breaking in. Do your research if this is an issue. For hunting it was for me so I went for the HUMA regulator. Original regulator is included.

Everything installed/tuned by my local FX shop. I do not dare to wrench on PCPs other than a scope install.

Scope and mount is not part of the deal but we can talk about it. it is a simple Stryka S7 1-6x24.

The rifle shoots and groups nice but I am not a bench shooter. This was used as a backyard hunting rifle for raccoons and the usual pest. It sat on a tripod and was sitting with me in the backyard on some nights. It was not dragged around much. I did one bench with it at a range. My application was 25 yards (you can search for some hunting threads of mine) and it shoots the same hole at that distance with whatever you tune it to. Slug, or pellet, heavy or light. But you do have to tune it and spend time with the settings whatever you shoot, slug or pellet.

Overall excellent condition. I can't find a scratch. I can send more images if needed just PM me. For some reason the server will not allow me.

I will take Zelle or a mailed check but it needs to clear prior shipping if your profile has not a lot behind it. I don't have a lot of feedback either but I have been around and active on the forums for a few years now.

FOLDING STOCK ADAPTER

Do you have a AR style stock? Want it folding? Don't want to pay HUNDREDS of DOLLARS???

Well here is the answer, first the good, it's inexpensive and it works, the bad and this is a variable, it's a touch loose (you are suppose to be able to tighten it but..... it may require some shims but....we love messing around with stuff. BECAUSE we have AIR GUNS. I am in conversation with him about a solution. I really don't notice it when shouldering it but when handling it it's annoying as heck.

AIMACULATE on eBay, the gentleman answers FAST!!! https://www.ebay.com/itm/326364918738?_skw=aimaculate&itmmeta=01JEYM7JAFS6A31YS5V6VYPGXQ&hash=item4bfcdd73d2:g:Y6cAAOSwAsNnUdb9&itmprp=enc:AQAJAAAA4HoV3kP08IDx+KZ9MfhVJKkLS6KUJIjxVHOtmX24+gcAwqB7RkQXU0rsqHnt3dHRfj5ePh0ubN8EL44IKa5PKjfZLctu3u9kOp68T4Gelgijpd8QNCtFRmODordxhMOxGuFbymmy2Rfua7FvCYlbaJoGwFjlRRT/tDLD2RuRlOHPki7RKcBcA0t0rF98bzLRgM6EuOexjj60OjdKeBrF1F20QwmALtD4UEPjzGoRCSYcXMCA7J11eUjidTksNNVRjn1UwNZM9OOJRjXohdQzpy9Dj1Ls2GOch8Bqcc+6w7uF|tkp:Bk9SR7ylntT3ZA. Not the cheapest but he does accept returns.

I"ll let you know how the rest of his customer service is.

For my Raptor it's a pleasure to be able to fold the stock for a case and not remove the moderator...as soon as I buy a case, and also to make the HSA and valve adjustments easier.

I did have to run the adapter in with some lube before assembly to get it to work. I also had to take a bit off of the supplied tool to get to the adapter when it's inside of the hinge, some disassembly and reassembly is required but not a big deal. Overall it'll suit my purposes and the price was fair. Forgot to mention he threw in a quick detach sling.

Bunny hunting with the .72 Harpoon

14* and windy this morning. But we got a new inch of snow. So I decided to do a little bunny hunting with the Harpoon. I made up a 1/2 dozen loads of 3/4oz TSS #7 and headed to the woods. Was nice to be able to just walk and hunt without having to be quit deer hunting. I got a 11 point the second week of gun season and another 9 point durning the Muzzleloading season. On with the bunny hunting. First rabbit ran out from under the row boat by the pond. 15 yard running shot. 1 for 1! The second one was sitting on the creek bank. Not as exciting sitting at 20 yards. 2 for 2. The next one was in the bottom of the creek along the RR tracks. Missed him on the run. Twice! Jumped 2 more in brush piles but didn’t get a shot. On the way back to the house I jumped one in the fence-row along the lane. Picked him off as he crossed the lane. Total was 3 for 5. Not too bad for being a nasty day out.

Unexpected Shooting Range Occupant

I was just shooting down range after some tuning and wanted to stretch her out to 185y tonight. Switched over to night mode, no IR, and this feller showed up. So I giggled and hit my white trash muffler target 10 yards away from it. This was my second shot that I have recorded here. My deer just don't care. Had to share the brilliance of silence.

Airforce  Yet More Texan questions. Why the swing in votes?

Hi All.

First post, don't be too hard on me.

I want to upgrade to a big bore. My requirements are simple I think.

ACCURATE
RELIABLE
Simple to use operate and maintain.

I have a Diana in .177 (most accurate one I own), a Flashpup in .22, a Stormrider in .22 a Seneca in .25 and an Airbow. Hand pump. And a compressor that I am still figuring out!

The number of shots I understand is relative and not a really big deal within reason. As to cost, I am limited (thankfully) to around $1000

I think (as uneducated at this as I am) the AirForce TexanLSS-CF Package seems to fit my bill.

First then, the caliber. 308--357--457.

308-- More shots??
357-- Have Lead and molds. mostly pistol weights (grains)
457-- Have Lead and molds. All types 45LC to 45-120 monsters for BPCR Shillohette (sp)

I understand I would get 3-4 good shots from the last two. Not sure about the 308.

My State has not legalized Air Rifles for Deer yet. So I don'tknow what caliber. Also I would like to shoot it more than just deer season and prep.

Why does there seem to be such a disparity on the Texans? Or is it AirForce. Either it is super accurate or it's crap. Is there that big a difference? I can only afford to do this once!

So, these are my thoughts. Care to jerk me into reality? Please do!!!!

Any and all guidance is truly appreciated.

Coyote and fox squirrels do mix

Decided to hunt the family farm this weekend and happy I did. Started out windy and cool with zero signs of life in the trees. I sat patiently on a hardwood hillside hoping a few fat squirrels would get hungry and come out. I caught movement out of the corner of my eye and started trying to find it among the trees. Spotted a beautiful yellow coyote trotting along the creek 150-175 yards below and across from me. She suddenly turned and crossed the creek traveling diagonally towards the hillside in front of me. I watched as she entered into a shooting lane that gave me a perfectly clear shot right at 75 yards. I barked once and she paused. I squeezed the trigger on my Maverick .30 sniper and watched her crumple in place. I was going for lungs because I was shooting hybrids and didn’t know if they’re capable of penetrating a coyote skull. I hit a little high and think I caught a piece of her spine. I’m happy with the outcome even though it wasn’t exactly a perfect shot. Everything happened so fast I feel lucky to have even had the opportunity and even luckier I was carrying enough rifle to pull it off cleanly. Either way our new beef calves hitting the ground over the past two weeks and the deer and turkey populations will have one less coyote to deal with. After taking photos and dragging her out I decided to change locations and continue trying to get a couple squirrels for the pot. Another stroke of luck hit me when I decided to try an area I hadn’t been in for 10-15 years. I settled in a draw about 20 feet deep on each side and had a small trickle of water running through the rocks. Didn’t take long to realize I was in a good spot. Shot 3 large males and then a female within minutes of settling in. Smoked another large male fox squirrel while I was retrieving the first 4. Never got a chance at the one more I needed to limit out but can’t complain after an amazing day in the woods.

Measuring my progress as a shooter…

Recently, I have felt my accuracy has improved. On a 1/4 inch bullseye, with sorted pellets by weight, I had 25 of 30 inside the bullseye at 25 yards off of a bench with just a bipod and no other stabilizer. The other five were within 1/8 inch of the bullseye.(.22 Maverick Compact -500 mm barrel).
I have no idea if this is good bad or what.
Looking for comments, not approval. I practice weekly at local TWRA. Indoor range, so no wind.
