AGT Barrels

The Vixen was a tack driver without much pellet searching for me anyway, but after owing the V3 .30 I realized how little information AGT publishes about their barrels compared to other manufacturers.
Being a .3063 and finding vids and slugging myself I found it difficult to find slugs that worked until Stephen Bianchi ( AVS) started his quest for a slug for the .3063 of the V3 .30 and everyone with one of the V3's had a good option.
But why is AGT silent on the barrels they put in their excellent airguns?
In fact their is so little published by them on the net about the airguns specs they make, that it's downright weird.
Being such good airguns you would think they would have at least a detailed list of specs comparable to some of the much less accurate or expensive offerings out there.
But after several years of occasional searches, I still only see bare bones descriptions of their offerings anywhere I've looked.

Does anyone have an answer as to why they publish so little?

If anyone has a spec sheet published by AGT themselves, could you share the link?

N/A  BRK Ghost HP .177 vs FX King .177

Looking to get a second PCP rifle and have narrowed it down to these 2....I think. I bought a BRK sahara XR and have totally loved it, so I'm a bit biased towards BRK. I'm a sucker for traditional stocks and the King looks awesome. Both of them weigh about the same, the Ghost seems less complex and easier to work with as well as less complicated to work on. The King has a higher shot count. I'm not really interested in shooting slugs. I'm not too sure on which one is considered more accurate, that could be a toss up.

Also to note, the RAW HM1000X was on my radar, but a shot count of 60 is just too low for what I want. If you were to pick, which would you choose? Any cons to either that I'm not aware of?

HW/Weihrauch  Okay. Now I'm done buying airguns. No. Really I am.

The fellow I recently bought my 77 from had my last bucket list gun. Feeling very happy with my 77 I had no problems buying another rifle from him. This rifle was just added to my bucket list in the last year. Thanks to the likes of Mike Driskill and others touting the shooting qualities of the early Hw50 series in a thread. The early 50 series are 25mm bores like my beloved Hw30 with a longer stroke and threaded receivers. They came in target ((55?) and non target models. They sounded interesting to me but the stock styling and lever locking breech kind of left me flat.

Then I find out for a short time Beeman marketed a Hw50 as an R8. I always thought it was the modern 26mm Hw50 that I have already have. Then I found out that the R8 was basically the earlier 25mm Hw50 with modern amenities like a synthetic seals, a normal chisel detent and a Goudy stock. Hold the phone! Now I have to have one.

Today I struck a deal on a very nice R8. Not cheap but I don't mind. There's nothing I know of like it in the Weihrauch line. I don't have it hand yet. I haven't even written the check for it yet. Here's some photos of it with aperture sights. I declined those sights to bring the price down to my budget. I'll post more pictures when I get it.
IMG_1960.jpg

IMG_1961.jpg

This morning I ordered a Vortek kit for my 77 I'll have to call Tom in the morning and have him add another kit on there for the R8. That's my big excitement for the day. Now that I've got my early 77 and getting a R8 I'm out of bucket list guns. That makes ten or eleven Weihrauch rifles now, so no more.

Thanks for letting me share my excitement.

Be well.
Ron

FX  1st time shooting the new Panthera 700

I shot my Panthera 700 for the 1st time today.. I bought it from Utah Air Guns and they tuned it for FX 44.5 grain hybrid slugs. Cross winds were 5 to 10 mph and it was snowing.

1st pic was 50 yds after getting sighted in.
IMG_5215.jpeg

After sighting in I figured out my dope at 50, 100, and 150 yds and I dialed it to a different distance after each group to see if I could dial it at different distances and be repeatable.
IMG_5217.jpeg

IMG_5218.jpeg

IMG_5212.jpeg

I will say I didn’t lose point of impact as time went by like I always did with my Gauntley SL30. Some of the groups are good some not so great.. but I was dealing with some varying wind. The Chronograph readings were very consistent at around 945fps.

PCP Rifle  SOLD Want to trade for Impact M4

I have some top notch pcp rifles, and am trying to consolidate to only a few. I have the following and would be interested in any kind of trade, even greatly in your favor, for an Impact M4 in any caliber less than .30, but preferably a 177 or 22.

1) Airmaks Katran L 177, super shooter and as new.
2) Cricket Carbine 22 super shooter and as new
3) BSA R10 Mk2 177 super shooter and beautiful as new
4)Brocock Bantam Sniper HR 22 super shooter desert tan stock and as new

These are the cream of all the rifles I've ever had, boiled down to four, 2 of each caliber I usually shoot. I also have tons of parts for them, should they need work, as I'm anal about keeping parts for my guns. All are in excellent condition and hold air as they should, forever. The Brocock, BSA have Huma regs, I have the original reg for the BSA, and an extra Huma for the Cricket, though it's never been in the gun, as the factory reg is phenomenal. The Airmaks has a factory reg, that can keep an entire shot string below 10 fps at over 900 fps. Great guns.

Choosing the “right” airgun

Plenty of threads on AGN about the ONE GUN idea… if you could only keep one…your favorite one, your most accurate one, etc… ad nauseam… You get the idea.
Have you Ever wondered what transforms an Airgun from basic utility status to a Legendary Classic?
This morning I decided I would try to answer that question for myself“.

First up is functionality related:

#1) accuracy
#2) tuneability
#3) smooth shot cycle: crisp, quiet SNAP!
#4) reliability - durability
#5) serviceability and parts availability
#6) warranty
#7) adaptability to different calibers
#8) A shot count that agrees with intended purpose

Second in line comes very subjective FORM issues:

#1) looks - does it have an amazing or unique stock - the wow factor
#2) feel - weight to size - overall balance at the shoulder.
#3) ergonomically designed for adaptability to various shooters and or various shooting disciplines - comfort in use.
#4) easily accepts various sighting option.

Lets see if you can list a single airgun in your collection that checks all the above boxes; don’t just list it, back up your assertions by using the above two check lists.

so far I have not found that ONE gun. I’ve come close but none of my guns check all the boxes, there is always a compromise as there doesn’t seem to be that ONE gun that can check all the boxes.

The Thomas comes close, but to me, it’s subjective utilitarian design hold it back but this is a - function over form thing. The Brocock Ghost while a wonder to change calibers and quickly tune is a bit top heavy (to me), when a large optic is mounted and its also very industrial looking. The Daystate Redwolf is right up there but tuneability and caliber changes require a lot of skill and like most airguns I’ve messed with, the shot cycle in .25/.30 calibers starts getting harsh. The RAW TM series definitely have the accuracy and the classic form with a high degree of ergonomic desirability.

Maybe the reason why ONE GUN is unthinkable for many is because you have know and decide on exactly how that gun will be used.

Let’s see how close to checking all the boxes you can get.

This thread is in honor of our comrades who live in places where it’s too cold to get out and shoot. There is a reason why I live in the Deep South.
