Hi all,

Long story short, I have the opportunity to buy a 300 and/or a 300s Jr. Both rifles are in very good condition and I believe that both have "low miles" on professional rebuilds.

I am unfamiliar with them beyond a few goofin' around shots with a friend's lefty version (I'm a righty) and of course, what I read.
I'm primarily a bench shooter, and that's what these would be used for, unless I get the urge to do a lot of freehand shooting again.
I'm interested in both, thinking that the heavier 300 would be better from the bench, and that the Junior would just be a treat to use in general. But those are just guesses.

If anyone could give me some insight into them, as well as their general values, I would really appreciate it. My funds are limited and I really need to sort out how best to use them.

Most wild video I've made, double raccoons, I pop the first one quick and easy, the second one runs almost all the way up the tree, I miss once while he's climbing as the angles mess with your point of impact on the scope, so I quickly use my range finder, get a new firing solution and pop him in the head 26 yards almost vertical... The thud that guy made! Then you can see blood just pumping out like a geyser at the end. Wonderful backyard memories
(P.S.) I have this video in night vision as well. I have a Pard multi spectral scope but the night vision struggles with the steeper angles and you end up only seeing the first kill or I’d share it. This was also written right after I downed them when I was pretty excited . There were more expletives then but I figured I’d clean it up a bit today but send the rest as I felt it at the time .

A buddy of mine has one and takes it with him for self defense when he travels into New York state. He’s in his 70’s and travels there with his wife and disabled daughter. It’s practically impossible for an out of state’r (we live in Pennsylvania) to get a carry license in New York. Even pepper spray is regulated by size and amount of pepper spray making it close to worthless. For some reason they don’t restrict the Byrna. You can shoot solid balls and pepper spray filled balls. He has his shooting at a velocity of about 500fps after he made modifications.

We both have CCP’s for Pennsylvania and I’d never trade my powder burner for air where I’m allowed to carry said powder burner. But, in situations like the one above, they are the best available option for self defense. Please let this discussion continue…

I’m the new guy, as in new to it all.
I’m 63, medical professional from far western Massachusetts.

Maybe 6 months ago I bought a $50 .177 thinking it would be fun. It was and I soon realized it was a toy and there was more out there. Not being my first rabbit hole(premium cigars), I knew the best place to find information and enablers is a forum. After scoping a few out, this was the place to be and have been lurking a few months.

You all are a wealth of information with civility throughout your disciplines.

Never shooting much of anything, and not likely to get deeply involved with the tech or tuning, I decided an HW35 and an Airmax would be a nice start. Looked around all the sites you here use and put them in a shopping cart.

Next thing I know there’s a listing on fleabay for an HW35e and a Vantage, both nib with all paperwork from AoA. He accepted $550 shipped. He had other Weihrauchs and related items. He answered all my questions, sent pics, exchanged phone#, and he had good feedback. I figured I’d rather give the money to a BOTL (brother of the lead) than a company.

I want to shoot with the irons for a while. Picked up a peep from Tech-Sights and have set coming for the stock globe.


Here’s the scope and unmarked rings it came with. Yeah, irons until I learn about scopes.

I have missed 2 or 3 squirrels this fall with my P35-177. It was sighted in with H&N Baracuda FTs. I shot a 197 on the 30 yard challenge with these pellets in this gun so I thought I was good to go. But I decided to check my first shot accuracy after the gun had set 12 hours or so. I also included 4 other guns. The top row is the first through 4th shots with my P35-177. As you can see, it did not do great (or I did not). Target shooting with this gun and pellet I had to leave my body off the gun to get it's best performance. So maybe it isn't surprising. I switched to the pellet I used to use in it, the H&N Baracuda Match and got 4 shots including that first critical one within 1/4 inch of the center. I will test it some more but this may give me acceptable hunting accuracy. When even an occasional shot is more than 1/2 inch from the point of aim I would rather not hunt with it. By itself that should not cause a miss at short range but it sure doesn't help anything. Most are within 1/4 inch but I really want all there or certainly within 1/2 inch. These shots are at 30 yards.

The next row down is my P35-22, after that is my Caiman X, after that is my P35-25. And the red dots are my Prod. All these guns wear 6-24 scopes except the P35-25 which has a 4-16 and the Prod which has a 2-7. I had multiple issues with the Prod, it fell out of tune and I could not see the target at 7X so there is only one shot at each target for it. But even at 7X I got acceptable accuracy. The Caiman did the best and I may try it on squirrels. It is plenty powerful pushing 18 grain H&Ns over 900 fps. But I like the P35-22. I like the Prod for short range shots so I do not have to aim so high. The first series of shots with my P35-25 was with it off reg. I get close to 20 shots with this gun at essentially the same velocity (and accuracy) after it goes below the regulator setting (of about 150 bar). The other shots are after I aired it back up. It is pushing 34 grain JSBs (MKII) at just under 800 fps, overkill for squirrels with this pellet and tune. I took all 18 squirrels with it on a much milder tune using H&N FTT pellets but it is more accurate with these big JSBs.

All except the Caiman, the newest, have taken squirrels for me. The P35-25 has taken 18, the Prod 17, the P35-177 12, and the P35-22 10. They all work but I kind of want to use the 177 more. With the Match pellets maybe I can. But my only question mark is the 177. It is also very wind sensitive and that may also play a role.

If you haven't tested your guns after they've sat at least 12 hours and preferably overnight I suggest you should. Sometimes they don't shoot quite the same on the first shot.

There doesn’t seem to be an airgun ammo forum, so I’ll drop this here because I’ve been shooting the pellets I’m posting about through pistols and a modded 1377 with an 18” barrel.

The shoutout here is for bulk pellets - .177 - that seem to be very good plinkers. I’m just a recreational plinker – occasionally bullseyes, but usually pop cans, ice cubes, empty pill bottles that are the ever-increasing debris of my geezerhood, etc. So all you competitive shooters and brilliant bullseye artists, take this shoutout with a grain of salt; I’m not here to sell you on whether these might suit your needs.

The item of the moment are Umarex pellets, pointed, 7.18 grain. I know many people prefer wadcutters and heavier weights, but for my plinking purposes, these are pretty decent. More than accurate enough that I’m pretty sure any shortcoming is the shooter, not the pellet. They load and shoot smoothly and consistently in all my airguns, something I can’t say for various other plinker-level pellets I get at the big box stores. $14.99 for a box of 1,250 at Tractor Supply (note – online it’ll say flathead; they’re not, they’re pointed).

For those moments where I want to pretend I’m a better shot than I am, I’ll buy and shoot pricier pellets. But for average bulk stuff for everyday plinking, I think these are really good and a heckuva deal. I thought I’d pass it along for what the tip may be worth.

Sometimes when shooting field target you have to shoot offhand.
Some of my fellow HFT shooters do so at the 16X limit of the allowed scope power.
Not me.
I shoot at a lower power to help lessen the wobble.
I always wondered what lowering the power of your scope does to your SFP holdovers?

To answer my question I shot a target in the garage with the TX#3 and the new HAWKE Sidewinder which only focuses to 10 yards.
Remember now I am a wobbly old curmudgeon at 79:

FX panthera 700 .22 cal. It has a 1:16 slug liner, the barrel system is epoxied and shoots great the gun is 1550. Does have the undertaker rail and is weighted internally. Brass rail does not come with this gun at that price but could be bought separately. Also has a sleek bag rider.

I want to trade either one of these guns for an impact m3. These guns are accurate and function better than any store bought gun. Both are 30 caliber,and shoot rugged hole groups at 100 yards. Or 1500$ each.

Beeman Classic Magnum in .20 cal. only made in 1992. Another Theoben product through and through but marked and marketed by Beeman. Rated @910fps I'll likely keep it a bit below that and test some pellets to see which is most accurate then decide what power level to shoot and keep it.

Did the DRS kill the dreamline classic ? Not even an option on PA site so I assume so. Bummer as I like the classic better.

Comparing the DRS .25 600mm with a dreamline .25 (600mm) what is the max fpe you can squeeze out of each if anyone has experience with both.

I have a .177 barrel that mistakenly got the wrong button ran thru it. I'd like to save it but... These are the specs it's at & don't know if worth messing with.

It's already fit for a BM RAW . most heavier/longer slugs are way tight. but smaller length slugs & pellets chamber & fire just fine. I have not tried to slow or increase speeds to proper levels for twist & pellet weight yet as I sent it back for the internal measurements listed above. I can get a replacement but I bet I won't get one for a year. If not savable, I'll have him toss it in garbage...lol

Hi guys - I have a fairly OTB Notos I got a couple months back - I've only made a couple easy mods - Opened up the regulator 1/4 turn, polished the trigger mechanism (super smooth pull now) lowered its tension, and then drove in the hammer spring all the way in. Aside from cleaning with the patch worm and adding a picatinny barrel grip & bipod, not much else is modified. I'm dead nuts around 15-20 yds (My favorite perch is out the kitchen window, at about 20-30 degree angle down to a target setup at 15yds & a 4-panel of targets on plywood out right at 40 yds.) -
Anyhow - I've been tweaking cause i have issues with the 40+ yds grouping. Being dead center at 20, I go out to the 40yd, and first shot nearly always strays - but then I'll have the subsequent shots anywhere but bullseye. It's kind of random, too - around 4" apart from each other, some a bit high, some a bit low, and left or right. I can sometimes see the pellet pop out of the barrel and arc down to the target. I'd hoped by opening up the regulator and hammer spring i'd get more of a shot on a rope, but not the case. It did pretty well suck my air supply down too - I still get about 35 shots in from 3,500psi before it starts hitting red though. I'm shooting Diabolo 18gr pellets, which I read in this thread are the pick for accuracy - and don't think it's the pellet I'm chasing.
Is the gain I'd get from a mod drop block & plenum with an upsized canister enough to be considering as the culprit here? I've seen many posts with 50yds being no problem for guys - so hoping maybe it's just the pressure I need to push a little harder? I did clean the barrel a couple times so far, last time just a couple of days ago. If anyone has some thoughts on it, mods maybe even not requiring purchases I'd appreciate that a lot. What is the best air pistol with power to carry for self defence.

Selling an FX classic Royale 400 .22. It's one of the earlier models without a power wheel. Dedicated right hand walnut stock. It is Huma regulated. Currently shooting FX 18.1 at about 885fps like a laser. New CF bottle and new 300 bar valve both from Talon Tunes.

I received my HW97 about a week ago. During that time I’ve shot about 400 rounds at paper, cans and shotgun shells. In my practice I’ve adjusted the trigger down probably too much. I’ve spent many hours sighting in, first at 20, then 40 and finally settled on 35 yards. Most of my pests will be between 30 and 40 yards.
Today I sat waiting for the pesky squirrels to show themselves. I’m shooting off a bag using a 14.3 pellet.
Patience finally paid off. I had two confirmed kills and a third hit but wounded. The two kills were head shots. One looking at me, right between the eyes and the other one a profile headshot that bled like a stuck hog. Distance for each was 33 and 36 yards.
I am posting to say that when you practice and do everything right you are rewarded with success. It instills confidence in yourself and in your weapon. The squirrels are about to go under for the winter but I’ll be waiting when they wake up.

I am out at the ranch we manage for a few days. Cleaning up and getting ready for winter and to be here for opening of bird season to keep people from hunting without permission.
Earlier this year the guy who farms it asked me to shoot any and all badgers I saw as his hay fields were being damaged heavily by them.
Today I was out driving around looking for some old baling twine to put garden hoses up for the season and ran across this guy.
He was at about 60 yards maybe a taste over. Put a 30 cal Hades through his front shoulder and into the vitals. He made it about 3’ before collapsing.
It was working its way away from me.and I did not want to shoot any further than I was, so when it turned broadside I shot for the shoulder. Pellet hit a bit lower than I wanted it to but it expired quickly.
I did not open it up to see what damage was done but I am guessing the heart was involved as fast as it went down.
This Panthera Compact Hunter may be the new truck gun. I would not have taken the shot with my Maverick 25 Compact. The extra 40+ fpe came in handy.
before anyone asks, no the bottle was not rolling around the back of my truck. I had just finished airing the gun up and moved it and the baling twine out of the way For the picture.

I am shooting a Daystate Wolverine 25 cal using a 39 g pellet at 839 ft/sec. My holdover at 70 yards is 6”. Does this seem normal or excessive?

I promised myself earlier this year that I would not purchase any new RC airplanes this year and none in 2025. So far so good, still several to build. Unfortunately my wife has noticed my lack of spending money on things she disapproves of so something must be done. I’ve given some thought to a bull pup since i don’t have one. The only specs I have are .177 or .25, pcp, wood stock, seven shot or more magazine and I want to operate the action similar to a biathlon action. Quick, smooth and reliable. Lower power scope or red/green dot sight, it has to look good and carry well and be able to live in a soft case in my truck. Cost under $500. What is available that fits these specs?
