N/A  Best sub $300 PCP

Hi all,
Long time lurker here, and I've seen other threads similar to this one but not the same. I am looking for a good first sub $300 PCP, probably in .25 cal, and I would like it to be able to take small to medium game. The best options I have found so far are the Hatsan Flash QE, Hatsan AT44 QE Long, and a little more expensive, the Airforce TalonP.
I have noticed how much people love the Notos. My question is what makes it so great? From what I can find online it doesn't generate very many ft/lbs.

Traditional Rifle  SOLD Airgun Tote - Hand Made Lighter Weight

I just finished this latest Air Rifle tote last night. It is going to a member in Pennsylvania tomorrow.
  • I used 99% kiln dried Sassafras because it has interesting grain and more importantly, is much lighter weight than most hardwoods.
  • I inlaid a strip of Peruvian walnut through the middle of all the pieces.
  • 6MM thick leather protects the air rifle and shooting sticks.
  • 1/2" polly rope (brown) looks nice and simplifies the attachment process.
  • 1" thick wood
  • Air rifle forend slot is 62mm for secure hold of 60MM diameter air bottle. Plenty secure for 30mm tubes as well.
  • There are 14 3/8" oak dowels and wood glue securely holding everything together. No screws, no nails, or metal pins. All Wood!
  • Dimensions: 20x9x8x and weights only 8.5 pounds.
I can repeat this same wood design or adjust as the buyer wishes. Sassafras and Eastern Red Cedar are the lightest woods I have access to. Walnut inlay offers a nice contrast.

$125 + $15 Shipping. I ship quick and secure.

Taipan  I got a new Taipan Veteran!

I just received earlier my Taipan Veteran 1 in .25 caliber! Pictured on top in the green laminate stock. I've had the .22 Long for 4 years and sold it a few months ago for the .22 Standard. I wasn't planning on buying another gun so soon but when I found out from a conversation with Taipan that the stock Talon Tunes had of the OG Veteran 1 .25 and .22 calibers both have CZ unchoked barrels, I had to jump on it. I've been thinking of getting a .25 caliber gun for a while now and now seems to be a perfect time to get another Taipan Veteran. Yes, yes, I know... CZ barrel, LW barrel perform the same... but I've just always wanted a CZ barrel on my Taipans.

I also bought a tactical stock for the new gun but I might leave the laminate stock on it for a while.

I haven't really shot it yet but in stock configuration, untouched as it came out of the box, it shot the JSB King Heavy at 789 FPS/47 FPE. With just hammer spring adjustment, it maxed out at 879 FPS/58 FPE. The hammer spring was not the limiting factor as it reached maximum velocity way before it was even close to the point of not being able to cock anymore. I then backed out the hammer to 2% less velocity to get 860 FPS/55 FPE. I have a Huma Air regulator for the gun but I might just leave the stock reg in it for now especially since it's practically already set to the velocity that I want to shoot the King Heavy at. I'm not sure yet about the shot count, but reading other people's experiences with this gun, I'm estimating around 30 to 35 shots on the reg at the 55 FPE power level. One thing I observed is that the hammer spring on the .25 caliber is noticeably heavier to cock than the .22 caliber.

For those of you that have this same .25 gun, what was the regulator set at from the factory? My .22 came in with the regulator set at 135 bars. I replaced it with the Huma Air reg set to 95 bars for 30 FPE with the JSB Hades.

Garmin Xero C1 Pro!

I just wrote a reply after seeing someone ask about it on my feed, but I thought I would take a second to write what I thought and how it worked and all the pro's I saw. Also for the price point being a 2-300 less than the FX Chrony I thought this info might be useful to some of you guys.

Sooooooo, I recently started using the Garmin Xero C1 Pro with my PCP air rifle, and I have to say, it’s completely changed the way I shoot. . My goal was simple: I wanted a setup that could help me be more consistent at varying ranges without all the guesswork of holdovers and using separate tools. After using it for a while now, I can confidently say it’s been worth every penny.

At first, I wasn’t sure how well the Xero would pair with my PCP rifle, but it’s surprisingly intuitive. The Xero mounts easily and functions as both a rangefinder and a holdover calculator. Once I calibrated it for my rifle, it became my go-to tool for improving accuracy. It ranges targets instantly—just press a button, and you get the exact distance. No fumbling for a separate rangefinder or trying to estimate the range by eye. Then, using that distance and the data you’ve programmed, it provides a precise aiming point. It takes into account your pellet’s trajectory, so you don’t have to guess or calculate holdovers in your head. For someone like me who used to hesitate taking shots past 125-150 yards, it’s been a total confidence booster.

One of the features I love most is the ability to set up multiple profiles. I’ve got one profile for my .22 PCP rifle and another for my .30 cal. Switching between them is seamless, so whether I’m out hunting or just plinking at the range, the Xero adapts to what I need. It’s like having a personalized ballistics expert with me at all times.

The biggest improvement I’ve noticed is in my accuracy, especially at longer distances. Before using the Xero, I’d sometimes misjudge holdover and end up with frustrating misses. Now, I can trust the data it gives me and focus entirely on my shot. It’s also a huge time saver, especially when I’m hunting. Instead of spending precious seconds figuring out range and trajectory, I can range, aim, and shoot quickly and confidently. In fact, it’s been a game-changer for small game hunting. I’ve had clean, ethical shots at distances I wouldn’t have even attempted before.

That said, setting it up took less than 2 minutes. Calibrating it to my air rifle was easy just plug and play, once I got it dialed in, it’s been rock solid. I’d recommend taking your time during setup to ensure everything is accurate—you’ll thank yourself later. And yes, the Xero isn’t cheap, but it sure as hell beats the 800+ price range of its competition, but for anyone serious about precision shooting, it’s absolutely worth the investment. It’s like having an entire shooting system built into a compact device.

As we all know a chronograph is a must with Airguns so i highly highly recommend the Xero, usually im skeptical when something is priced lower than the comp but, Garmin is reliable as a company so I gave it a shot and it's been worth it. I’m curious if anyone else here has tried the Xero or something similar with their PCP setup. How has it worked for you? Let’s share tips and experiences—I’d love to hear what others think!

Umarex  Third gun in 3 weeks Zupper ZELOS

Got it today, packaging perfect even FedEx didn’t damage. So here goes my first ever written review of anything. Unboxed and was wow this is cool. Actually read the manual as I’m new to Airguns. Tried to run a bore snake through cutting the brass weight to fit the breech. Wouldn’t go all the way, tried from muzzle and the loop on the end wouldn’t fit. O well I tried.

Pumped it up with my Amazon ndcyjg $200 compressor. Took 7 minutes 10 seconds to 3600 psi from 0. Figured out how to load and shot a couple close to trap just to check. Luckily had some Burris rings on another unused scope hidden away cause I forgot about ordering rings for my brand new Athlon heras 6x24. Pellets I used was some very cheap Daisy. They were around 8 bucks for 500. I had to weigh cause it wasn’t listed on packaging or tin. 15.3 grains.

My cellar range is 40 ft, sighted in and started shooting group.
Big whoooh this gun doesn’t sit on my various rests and bags I have. ive got all conventional stocked guns. More shopping tonight. Anyhow did the best I could. Easy neat one hole 5 shot groups. Then I started having fun shooting single holes and not enlarging the hole. after 2 mags I was watching the pressure. I read you didn’t get many shots. I got 55 shots before I noticed gauges dropping. 60 shots were on target before I quit for dinner.

Couple days ago tried some led s on my shooting chrony for indoor use. Didn’t work and I ordered brighter multiple led little panels and try again.
i did receive a $27 clamp on chronograph the other day. After getting it to work right on my Reximex pistol put it on a Buckrail sile.. ( o can’t say that) moderator. Put it on the ZELOS, I didn’t write it down but was all around 960fps.
Very happy if this $600 listed price gun ( you can get cheaper) is this good what’s a $2500 gun like? I don’t think I’ll find out cause it can’t be that much better .
No wonder Ive got another hobby

On the vid I stated they are moving over 800fps but I misspoke. They're moving @ 783 fps. Love this little pcp air rifle.

Shooting out of window cold weather

I have a shooting shed that I shoot bench rest out of at up to 110 yards. In cold weather, anything below 50 degrees I heat the shed to around 75 degrees since I usually shoot for a couple of hours. This causes a mirage through my scope since the length of the barrel is inside the 75 degree heat and the air out side the window may be only 40 degrees or down to the 20's. The colder the weather the worse the mirage is. Anyone else have this problem and how to cure it.

Starting from Scratch - finding a home for an airgun activities related club

If you live in an air gun desert, meaning there really aren't any airgun friendly ranges within 2-3 hours, you are not alone.

Oddly, many traditional Rifle and Pistol ranges are not thrilled about airguns or airgun competitive events either.
This is partly because of a lack of understanding and partly because space is sometimes very limited and more variations in platforms means more competition for existing infrastructure.

In my particular location of Mobile, Al. there are 4 Rifle and Pistol and Skeet ranges within an hours drive of me. None of those 4 ranges offers any direct support for Aiguns or Archery but none of those ranges would complain if you joined and only showed up to shoot your airgun. Just expect a lot of stares and questions, which can be a good thing.

But

Of all these close in or nearby ranges, when i ask the owners or folks that run the place, if they would consider allowing me to set up a Field Target Courses or Bench Rest course utilizing Airgun only targets, i get a firm "no". May seem odd, but regardless of the reasoning, it is what it is.

So what's an airhead (the smart kind) going to do? First things first = don't give up.

Some VERY fortunate people live in locations where the STATE or Cities actually provide the land and infrastructure for these activities. If your state or city does not, they never will, unless, someone like YOU or a group of someones like US begin to organize in such a way as to be heard in a very positive way.... a way in which city and or state officials hear and see the benefits marksmanship programs like the CMP can provide for all age groups.

If your petitions to your Municipality officials fall on deaf ears your will have two other choices.

#1) You can find and convince a private land owner to give you permission to use their land; they might be okay with a couple of plinkers showing up once in awhile but they probably will not like it when 7-20 people show up to wage war on various paper and steel targets 3 times a week and esp on the weekends.

#2) We, as individuals or as a club / group must find, acquire and setup the infrastructure to support the sport we enjoy all by ourselves or by creating a group to share the expenses and work. Costs and legal issues associated with creating a Airgun range can seem daunting and may vary greatly from state to state from city to city or from county to county. Land acquisition is a big cost. location location location, and that location needs to be in an area where zoning laws or other administrative, environmental or sensitive neighboring issues try to stop you before you get started.

This is where i am now... doing it on my own. To date this is what i have learned:

A) If you and or your club are planning on buying or leasing your own land, you will ideally need between 6-16 acres for activities and buffer zones.
B) Your location will need to be away from growth tracts / suburbs or other developments that are ever expanding
C) Your location will also need to be in an environmentally suitable spot - not sensitive endangered wildlife species or wetlands.
D) You will need, road access, parking, power for compressors and seasonal lighting and at the least some solid way to LOCK your stuff up from bandits.
E) insurance... yep gotta have insurance.
F) you will need equipment to maintain the land or the shooting lanes / ranges and people and resources to help you maintain them as well.

I would love to hear from anyone who has gone down this road.
Some great ideas i have had include talking to 3D archery clubs as they have similar needs.
Within just the last week a forum member @shootermeb - gave me a great lead to a local gun club / range, that, lo and behold, was actually interested in talking with me!

Once you do find a club or person who is interested a letter of introduction is very helpful:

For the last 2 years I have been gathering ($20K worth) equipment and resources to create a competitive and recreational club and site for American Field Target programs along the Gulf Coast areas.

Field Target is an international sport that is growing very quickly in the United States.

American Field Target (AAFTA) use "precision air rifles" typically shooting pellets at 20 FPE or less and they shoot distances from 10 yards to 55 yards. https://www.aafta.org/organization.html

World Field Target (WFTF) typically shoots pellets at 12 FPE or less and they shoot distances from 10 yards to 55 yards. https://www.world-field-target-federation.org/

Extreme Field Target or Ultimate Field Target or Long Range Field Target shoot pellets up to 100 FPE and they shoot distances from 20 yards to 100 yards. https://extremefieldtarget.com/index.html#/

Airguns use H.P. Air and compressors, like paintball, but some also use spring pistons or CO2, and as a general rule they are fairly quiet.

Everyone that I have met, to date, that shoots Field Target, also shoots a powder burner / traditional rifle or pistol and may also enjoy Archery. In that regards I see the people who participate in Field Target as very compatible with any and all rifle and pistol and archery ranges.

Currently, I am looking for people and resources (gun clubs and archery clubs) who have similar needs to create places to set up courses for training and to hold competitive events.

A field target course is comprised of 10-15 lanes (like archery) but the knock down targets are placed 10 yards to 55 yards to 100 yards away and are reset using lines. A round or match is typically 60 shots.

Bench Rest 25 m and 50 m 75 m and 100 m are also events: https://www.usairriflebenchrest.com/

My secondary goal is to help create a local CMP Civilian Marksmanship Program like Huntsville AL. and Talladega AL. have. https://thecmp.org/ CMP’s often train Olympic athletes / shooters who many times get full ride scholarships to Universities.

Two years ago, I only had myself, but as of this year I have 6 members that come from Daphne, Fairhope, Pensacola and Mobile.
Please give me a call or Text #_________________________. I would love to meet with you and your group on a weekend and visit your facilities; and perhaps I could bring some of my equipment for you to experience the joy of Field Target first hand. I think you will discover we have very compatible sports / interests. I am also aware that infrastructure and insurance, is NOT cheap, thus cash flow is important to the success of any long term range / facility.

These other links will provide you with more insight into the world of Field Target and Olympic style shooting.
