Still werqing on the Yong Heng

The radiator and fans actually help a bit more than I thought they would. I can top off my Great White tank from 2900 to 4000 without any ice with the radiator and fans installed. But I don't like taking the temp up over 60C and it takes 63C, 145F to do it. That's why I went up to 4 gallons, on the reservoir and got a little stronger pump to see if it will keep it under 60 deg. I also top off my 90ci tank and my guns as well. It needs to run 20 minutes or better to do them all but only got about fifteen out of it as is.

You really don't need the radiator and fans as a half gallon jug of ice, in the reservoir, has werqed fine to keep the temps down to under 60C for the last couple of years.

I bought the parts, to do the mod, a couple of years back and they have just been sitting on a shelf waiting for me to use them. I got bored so I did. My guess is this will come real close to what I need. But without the need for any ice.

It is called the Set Pressure Model where I bought it. Some of the different sellers call them by different names. You have to be careful when you order.

The Auto Stop version where I bought this was a unit that automatically stopped at 3000psi

I think that the larger water container would have given you the results that you were looking for without the extra complexity and bulk of the other stuff but nice job of making it look neat and tidy.

I have to agree that the larger reservoir would give me most of what I was after. I am guessing this will werq slightly better and slightly is all that is required for me at this time.

i found the yongheng will run up to 60 with no load .. it simply needs a break after a certain amount of time and the upper water jacket cooling area is only part of the equation ... the stock pump is adequate for that ...i find it easy to just set up by the sink and use that and the water can be kept changed out and cool by just leaving it running alittle to overflow into the other side .. the rest of it is ambient, running in a cool place keeps it cooler ...

Yes, it needs a break after a time. I am just after making that time just a little longer without the ice I usually put in it. I really don't expect the upgraded pump to do much but once I saw it I couldn't resist the whisperings of the addiction. ;^). Running cooler tap water through it helps as does running it in a cooler environment. Lots of ways to do this stuff.

Awesome work and organized. It's a similar setup to a TIG torch cooler, $1000 per cooler unit.

The fans blow the hot radiator air away from the compressor to rise, excellent.

The water in the radiator does not even get to 80 deg F so I have the fans blowing on the unit as it will still likely cool the unit a tiny bit. Or that's the thought anyway.

Thousand yard shooting at the range today so the rest of it is shut down so they can stretch things out. So I cannot get out there to waste any air. I will have to wait for another day to test this thing out.

Just remember , antifreeze lessens cooling, Not helps it. If not in freezing conditions, no reason to use it other than the anti corrosion additives. Which can be had without it.

Just used a little antifreeze for the anti corrosion attributes. Also moving where it will freeze soon enough.

I have a working POS like that and it's yours for the taking!

Used it twice and hated every minute of it.

Loud (fast, i will give it that) but it accumulates moisture faster than a succulent in a rainforrest. Change silicagels every 30min at max.

Drain stage 1 and 2 every 5 min max! Lots of crud even at those narrow intervals.

Noisy af.

All that cooling circus thing. Just hate it.



So i saved up for two months and bought an Altaros Booster. Never looked back and lowing every minute of it.

Slow yes, but it gets the work done and needs no care and maintenance! My Booster has run 250+ hours and is still on it's first seals and O-rings.

I purge mine every five minutes and replace the Yong Heng filter every twenty and my media filter is just starting to show it's age after a year so the stock YH cyclone filter does a fairly decent job.

All the cooling is more for the fun of it than anything else. It werqed fine with just a half gallon jug of ice in it before.

It is loud and fast for sure.

Sounds like you had the version without the water separator?
