FX Crown MKII Continuum GRS vs Your pick?

I'm drooling over the FX Crown MKII Continuum GRS Green Mountain Laminate

I love the grip and 2 barrel kit

So if you have the same money ($2400) to spend what other PCP rifle would be your choice?

Or like myself.... get the FX :)

Thanks!

Assuming I didn't have a crown already....

I'd get another Crown! Haha

One thing to consider... The grs stock is a good bit heavier than a standard stock. Look at the specs if you can. It's very well suited for bench or rested shooting. If stalking, I'd get a different stock option.

I'd get Walnut but over the past several years the crown Walnut stocks have been ultra bland. There's no way I'd buy one without being able to see it. Synthetic stocks have excellent feel to them, and are very lightweight. But I prefer a little more weight for balance/stability.

Great insight, the wood versions are easier to get, then the Continuum GRS

Thanks

I recently had a chance to shoulder a Crown GRS at my local airgun shop. IMO it shouldered better than the Daystate redwolf I held just a few minutes earlier.

It did not feel heavy in my arms. It didn't have a scope on it, maybe that's why it felt light.

The redwolf stock took me a couple minutes to become Okay with. Very nice stock.

The GRS stock immediately felt right. That's just me though.

I was very recently in your shoes. I was lusting over the Crown MK2 in the GRS stock. After lots of research and drooling I ended up going with the Saber Tactical stock on my Crown MK2. Definitely not as beautiful but much more functional for me. I also really wanted to get into tripod shooting and the saber tactical stock really was perfect for that. Also, Utah had it in stock when I called so that helped my decision too. I am very very very happy with the Saber Tactical stock. I totally understand your desire for that awesome GRS stock though. It is a beauty. In fact, I like my Crown so much that I’ve considered maybe selling my Impact MK2 and getting a Dreamline with that GRS stock. So many options….

Should be noted the crowns are super light on the front end, so a heavy stock won't necessarily feel that heavy when shouldered, but will when carrying it.

Mine is 9 lbs with scope, sling, ect. (Walnut, 44mm scope) But it really feels like a 7lb gun shouldered

Being so light on the nose really sets this gun apart. That and the very light hammer/valve cycle lend a lot more to accuracy than you would think.

I wouldn't waste your money on the GRS stock. I had one on an Anschutz rifle. It's heavy and has a lot of crazy angles around the grip and is not conducive to good accuracy IMO. I would get a Crown with one of the other laminates.

Not sure if the GRS stock on the Crown is identical in configuration to their stock on the Anschutz, but I will offer a contradictory viewpoint that the Crown with GRS stock is absolutely the most stable platform for me on the bench. And I have other Crowns with laminate & walnut stocks, and have had them with synthetic stocks in the past.

The only issue I see with the Crown GRS is that the reach from the grip to the trigger is long. Even with the trigger adjusted back, it might be too long for some folks. For my large hands it is just fine.

My GRS Crowns are more accurate in my hands than my standard Crowns. But stocks are such a very personal thing. Personally, I felt immediately comfortable on the GRS Crown.

As far as noise, a lot is related to efficient air use. The Wolverine HP uses the efficient Harper Slingshot valve. The RAWs in stock configuration are pretty well known for wasting air (this doesn't impact their accuracy and consistency, but they like to be tethered for a longer shooting session). Wasted air = more noise.

I would say that the Crowns are as quiet or maybe just a little quieter than the Wolverines. Want really quiet accuracy - then you need to be very efficient with air. In my book that equals Red Wolf.

I have the GRS crown and it's glorious in every way. I've been going to "real gun" range recently and I got questions and complements on it every single time.

Depending on what you want to do though, the crown MK2 does max out at around 45-50 FPE with the 600mm barrel. If you want more power Impact has more and my go to choice. If you don't need that kind of power then crown is better to shoot hands down as long as you stick with shorter barrels. In fact I'm looking at a Crown base since I already have extra barrels and stock.

It was your comment in another thread that made me start this one about the GRS when you said you where "enamored" by the GRS stock, thank you for your chiming in and having real rifle ownership experience

Sound like I'll cut RAW out of the formula:)

I'll mention a couple more observations... I prefer the taper of the underside of the normal stock for sandbag use. Just makes it easier to make adjustments in elevation. Also, the reviewer sounded like he was a pretty large guy. Standard length of pull and grip feel pretty much perfect for me, so that makes me wonder if the grs would even suit me well dimensionally. I am 6ft tall, and have average sized hands.

I know it's a small thing but, the trigger guard hack seems like a hack move. I get it. An existing part is already designed/made. But still. At least refinish it properly after hacking off the ear for the second screw.

And then using a socket head cap screw where a flat head screw should be....just seems sloppy to me. Or someone does not take any pride in their work.

Don't get me wrong, I am fairly certain a GRS stocked 600mm Crown is my next purchase....but I may just go with a standard stock instead.

I wonder if the reviewer's sample was pre/early production? Anyone have a recent production model to verify that the trigger guard is the same (or different) from Sub12's video (linked previously)?

Edit: does that trigger guard screw only hold the trigger guard on? Or does it pull the action into the stock too?

Thank you for your real life experience with the stock, something to really ponder

Actually, if you plan to use your rilfe for hunting, the GRS stock is pretty heavy. If you intend to shoot it for benchrest, then the Saber Tactical is a better choice. It's aready set up for bipods or similar front rests, and it has a bag rider for better rear bag set up
