What pistol did you shoot today

The other pistol I shot today was my brand new, stainless (effect) and very handsome, Chiappa Rhino.

It's only a bb flinger, and at 10m, not very accurate with Smart Shot, so I tried some H&N Econ II.

I think I will be fitted a rifled barrel quite soon, or getting a bigger barn door...

Well now I know, the silencer makes very little difference to the overall sound of the HW45.
It does affect the POI as there is more mass up front that has an effect on the recoil - less muzzle dip.
For whatever reason, I couldn't get the adjustment on the red dot sight any higher, so I used it at half power which gave less muzzle dip. I was quite pleased with the ten shot group, off-hand at 10m.

I then wanted to try it with the opens.

Hmmm. 🤔

Maybe I need to re-fit that red dot, I only put it on because the diameter of the silencer blocked the opens! The other alternative is a pistol scope, it annoys me that there is no facility to fit a sight further back, they just don't look right to me in the middle.
I might try fitting some sort of RMR plate on my old clunker model, but I won't be drilling any holes in this one.
Have you looked at some dovetail to picatinny adapters? Some have extension which would allow you to move it further back. I'm also annoyed by the top rail tilt, mine is about 8 moa. I may make a roller bushing for the rear latch pin and grind the catch (spur) flat. This of cource will lower the barrel alignment to the piston port, so an equal amount needs to be cut deeper into the top rail to re-align the port again. This will make every thing parallel and get's rid of the barrel tilt. Or I could just make make this my hunting rig and leave as is, lol.

Most of the report of the P1 /45 is from the mechanics of the gun. If you think about it, there already is a long void, which is why the HW75 sounds a bit quieter than its competitors. With springers already quieter (in regard their sonic report) its possibly why you got little for your trouble.
However, what really makes a difference is the red dot. Pistols have compromised sight radius but the red dot has infinite sight radius.

Hi Guys…Well what did we all shoot today?.. It was a gorgeous day here in the North East…windy at times..so if I didn’t hit my marks .. I would blame it on the wind…I finished up the mods I did on the Reximex RPA..and dial it back in…passed the paper test..3/4”...10 shot group..not bad for using cheap defective pellets…I got bored so I moved over to the slingshot box and pounded the spinners..my spotter kept running down looking for the kill shots…lol…it was time to do some yard work…so I pruned a few high up tree branches…5 shots each did the job ..easy day today?

Marker that target spotter looks like he is in heaven. Probably just to be with you and doing anything. My dog loves being out with me. Later I will take out some wash to be hung up to dry and MY target spotter, wait for it..... white with SPOTS, will be going out and rolling in the grass and sun worshipping. But he will be without me while I go deliver Meals on Wheels. So that might make up for not being there to shoot things for target SPOTter to ravage. He does like blackbirds, Grackles, and other pests. He's a regular bird watcher. I prefer women watching myself. This is the time of year they are out in force walking around the 1 mile block across the street from me. My front yard is well groomed this time of year. It takes some considerable time from my pistol shooting. My target SPOTter likes to help me. Be Well Brothers, B.

Yeah I trained him well he is # 7 so I have learned how to train them well in the field and trials…he was at heel I gave him the back command at that time he was waiting for me to signal him left or right…after I wrecked my back .. I gave up hunting but I still play the game with him

A relative accuracy comparison with a Baikal Makarov.
Five shots with BBs and five shots with pellets at 10 yards. This gun is actually intended as a BB gun, but for some reason has a rifled barrel.
It's a bit hard to see here but all 5 pellets are grouped in the black, and two of the BBs hit the same hole at the edge of the black (white holes didn't scan well so I had to touch them with a magic marker).
Black dot is 1" across.
BBs were SmartShot copper coated lead.
Pellets were RWS Hobby 7.0gr.
It could be that steel BBs like Black Diamonds may yield better grouping than the SmartShot but I'm reluctant to shoot steel anything through a rifled barrel.

I had to try it ... can the Schimel handle a big Diablo 33gr pellet?
So here it is, 15 shots with 33gr Diablos. And nothing broke. The last one hit low as the gas ran out.
Even with these heavy pellets the POI is about the same as with the Crosman 14.3gr I normally use. Except it kicks a bit more.
These old Schimels pack a helluva punch!
And granted, my aim needs some work ...

KWC Makarov_PM at 10 yards.
Like other lookalike blowbacks I've had, so much gas goes to the blowback that there's not enough left to drive the BB properly.
Both fps and accuracy suffer for it., which adds up to a bit of a disappointment.
However that's where the ASG Blasters (plastic BBs) come to the rescue.

Black dot is 1" across, circle is 3" across.
Grouping isn't great but at least it's hitting around the point of aim (steel BBs hit *much* lower). I really can't complain, this isn't a target pistol.
Trigger is nice and smooth, as is the action, nothing gritty at all ..... even before I drowned it in grease and oil :).
Field strips like the real Makarov. The mag release is also much like the real Mak, a bit fiddly, which if you've ever handled a real Mak is spot on.
Slide is a good fit with minimal play.
What started out as a disappointment has turned out to be an enjoyable little plinker!

Some might ask how it compares to the Baikal Makarov.
For realistic action, I'd opt for the KWC with it's blowback slide. Extra mags are available and it's convenient to have at least two. Slide spring as well as mag release spring are both pleasantly lighter than those on the Baikal (which I suspect are the same springs used on the 9mm).
For realistic look & feel there's no comparison for the all-steel construction of the Baikal. And given the steel construction, I would expect it to last almost forever. Also, the Baikal barrel is rifled which offers an option to use pellets if better accuracy is desired. I haven't found anywhere that sells extra Baikal mags so it's a good idea to get a seal kit for the one you've got.

AS I walked by I looked at a Webley Trophy in the box and then stroked a scoped Webley Tempest but neither got warmed up. Am going to do some grass trimming then come in and start a loaf of whole wheat bread in Momma's Mothers' Day gift, a Zojirushi top of the line bread machine. It was great camoflage to what I have spent this year on airguns. Honey Dos and a new bread machine sound good, NO? You may not hear from me again if not! Be Well, Brothers, B.

Something I discovered about these lookalike BB guns …
Some of them are such good copies of the originals that even the “real gun” accessories will fit. Grips, sights, suppressors, etc.
For example, the KWC M712 shown below is attached to a shoulder stock from a real Mauser C96. No modifications were needed.
The ability to swap selected bits between my airguns and PBs adds a whole new dimension to this hobby for me 👍
