I am also very curious. I am sure luck is the part of it, but he had a track record and moving up the ranks of the EBR winners list. Not unlike an athlete who wins bronze one year, silver in next, and eventually the gold. He must be doing something right and purposefully getting better. Now, if I would win the EBR (having no prior accolades), that may be dumb luck.

Hope all of you realize my comment about Ted's win at EBR being dumb luck was in jest. I'm well aware of his talent and accomplishments. If I was able to just qualify for the final round or even escape embarrassment trying, now that would be dumb luck.

I suspect Ted spent many more hours on the range than I'll ever spend. Luck is for those who are prepared to take advantage. Luck rarely helps the unprepared.

As someone who shots at the range where the EBR is held at 75 and 100... the luck element is in, how the wind is when you shot for record and what lane you get as the wind is better/worse/wilder/tamer on some lanes versus other lanes. The time of day element is somewhat taken away by running in relays, so you are competing against people shooting at the same time. Where it still is a luck element is if you are shooting in wild winds you have a much higher chance of catching a gust that takes the shot over two bulls into the 6 ring instead of into the intended bull's 10 ring... you might be the only one caught by that gust.
