Really?!? That’s really interesting because they are actually federally listed as an invasive species. Here out west most of the rules for shooting them are actually just the rules for shooting in town. Other than that it’s no bag limits and open season year round. In Utah you can even bait a lot of the non-game species so coyotes, doves, red fox, raccoons and striped skunks. It gets a little trickier with trapping, some things require a furbearers license.
But yeah the local laws were a big part of me taking this hobby up. I wanted another excuse to be outside and something I could do all year round.
The main problem with doves is I usually see them in town in places I can’t be busting out a 10ft long Barra 250z lol. Nor do I really want to shoot 65fpe in town haha… I’m genuinely considering getting a notos and going straight gangbanger on these birds. Cruising around quiet neighborhoods at dawn and dusk and popping ‘em
