Im a hunter but 90% of my hunting is off a bipod. What would be your choice for this? Rifle in question is RAW HM1000X .30 can't make a decision on stock shape though.
I have a HM1000X .25 LRT walnut. I love the adjustability and that both right or left handed shooters can enjoy my pride and joy. I'm not familiar with the sporter stock, but I can't think of any thing I would change on the LRT stock.
So 2 for the LRT good to know didn't realize it was ambidextrous that is a plus. I always thought I liked the charcoal laminate until I saw the buckskin laminate. I have first dibs on a buckskin laminate in LRT in a month or so or can get an in stock charcoal laminate in Sporter stock.
I recommend you either email or call RAW about the wood options for the stock you decide on. I think you can get any color they have...The laminated stocks are beautiful, but so are the walnut. The laminated stocks are less effected by humidity but weigh about a pound more than walnut.
One thing I learned is they can't change the configuration (shape) of any stock you choose. They are all made by a CNC machine so the color is your only option.
I like the Sporter style for my medium size hands. The LRT looks heavier with a chunky grip. The Sporter also offers a thumbs up groove. I also hunt off a bipod and I find the smaller grip easy to carry in the field. If I were you I'd check the weight difference between the two. The LRT looks like a bench stock. Also $200.00 more?
I choose the Sporter for my TM 1000. As scrane mentioned, it is a bit better with smaller hands (I actually sent them an outline of my hand and they made that part of the stock a bit smaller) and has the thumb up option as well. Also, I just think it looks good. I got it in the wine laminate and it is simply gorgeous.
Lol I know I can get whatever color I want I believe in any stock that's not what I want. I have first dibs on a rifle that's being built and should be done in a month or so which is a LRT in buckskin. Or looks like there's one in stock at a vendor that is the same HM1000X .30 in a charcoal laminate Sporter style stock. Essentially these two are what in choosing between.
The first picture looks AWESOME! Guess that is the Buckskin. I would pitty my poor wife if I got that one. It would be displayed on the kitchen counter for a month………. just so I could look at! LOL Great choices Dairyboy!
I love the buckskin color however I don't think I like the LRT look mainly trigger area with lack of a trigger guard. So in going to go with the pepper laminate sporter as I've always wanted a gun in pepper laminate and prefer the stock shape. And I can get it next week lol. If I love the gun as much as I think im going to I will probably end up ordering one in .25 down the line that I can get a buckskin sporter stock and actually wait for that one.
Buckskin is really nice, I havent seen one in person. What cal is the pepper laminate you might get? I have seen a few pepper laminate and they are my favorite out of the laminates I have seen in person. I also like the walnut. Not positive but I think the laminate will be heavier than the walnut.
It's a .30 cal both are. I recently bought my dad a boyds pepper laminate stock for his .25 Mrod and I love the look. I know there heavier however im not a big fan of just plain brown wood even if they are a beautiful stock with grain and curling and all that good stuff. Just something about me I like them different and prefer laminate looking guns.
