Official 2025 Pyramyd AIR Cup thread!

Anyone have a picture of Nicolai pellets ? hard to understand this whole argument not knowing what the problem is .
AND i think prototype Manufacture's guns should not be allowed , i think a promoting a new gun that is not available to all is unfair in a competition.

Read ‘em and weep‼️

Again, Nicolay is moving innovation. He deserves thanks for that. He sells his bipods (I have one) and moderators here in the USA when he travels over. He’s adamant, however, that he can’t sell these wind fighting precision .30 torpedoes though. Wonder why? Oh yeah, Russian sanctions. That doesn’t seem to stop his other products from making their way on to these shores 🤔

So if i can order these pellets on line 6 months ago , just like i can order on line from, PA , they are commercially available . ANY ONE can Do this .correct ?
SO IF : a very well known pellet company copied Nicolai pellet it would then be ok ? I guess size does matter .
I am just questioning not taking sides in this .
Stan in Ky .

The completely vague rules are to blame. Those can be easily fixed if someone wants to fix them.

A power cap of 100fpe would be good to keep things from getting out of hand further.

Mike
you realize that a standard velocity .22 is 110 FPE and 40 gr projectile ? are we still talking Air guns ? jmo

BC of 0.9ish from a pellet is insane.

My best pellet/barrel combo has a BC of 0.055ish. and the .20 slugs that I've crowed so much about is up around Nicolais pellet BC. There is an incredible difference in how easy it is to get the 0.9ish slug to go where ei want it to @ 100 yards versus the 0.055ish pellet.

Good on Nikolai for innovating and pushing the boundaries, but shooting against that with the commercially available pellets simply isn't a fair contest.

And yes, an FPE limit is long overdue in some types of airgun comps. And to not stifle innovation, perhaps divisions/classes capped at certain fpes. I'd like to see the same in EFT. There's a big performance difference between a .22 and a .30. Yes, nothing stops us all from shooting .30s, but some of us still enjoy airguns as airguns.

You can’t order them. If you find a way to, let me know but you won’t‼️

I would like to interject a couple of concerns with the BR format and possible improvements from a shooters perspective. I want and am going to keep this positive! First is safety on a firing line!!!, before, when and after a card or relay etc. I personally feel once the RO calls hot line no one I mean no one should be on the firing line or cement pad etc. and even should be at least 10 ft behind! Even camera men! If one of them is to trip and fall or bump into your bench😳 you get the idea… I think multiple RO’s behind the line with the authority to keep people at bay would greatly improve safety and distractions.
Second is the company that had cameras on every target and relaying this information in real time is actually is pretty cool but again the display screens could have been further away from the firing line And the trip hazards associated with this equipment is a concern.
Thirdly is numbering the firing lane the benches are numbered👍but the actual firing lane should be! like a plaque above the bench mounted on the structure In front of the bench or behind the bench would greatly help us shooters getting ready to move benches or set up for our relay and also keep spectators away from the firing line trying to correlate bench vs. screen they are watching.
Now for the positive, I know Tyler and staff are taking on a huge commitment and challenge trying to keep this fun, safe and entertaining for shooters and spectators alike and Applaud him for doing so 👏 this event is close for me and allows me to participate without spending tons of money and time to do so! And do not in any way want this event or Tyler and staff to get over criticized for hosting this competition they worked tirelessly to host this and make sure it stayed on schedule and everyone had a good time. “And I Did!”. Thank you.
Now I want to say I had the most fun with the field target competition and the shooters! What a great group of competitors they are! Always being positive, encouraging and supportive. Congratulating you when making a tough shot and making suggestions for future shots. I am not competitive in this discipline but still very nervous for those first few lanes until a rhythm develops and every shooter I was paired with was Awesome and I had a genuinely fun time with you all! I hope the same can be said for me.
I know this has been a long post but wanted to share this “ maybe should be posted elsewhere?” If so please do so. But what a tremendously fun event. Hat’s off to pyramid air, Tyler and staff for hosting this this wonderful event.

During the shooter's meeting the RO pointed out that NO ONE is to be on the concrete pad during a match other than the shooters of that relay. I can only assume that three videographers had advanced permission to be on the pad during the match?

Sometimes Steve or his cameral were 6" away from shooters faces during qualifying and final rounds. He was really annoying and LOUD and I heard a LOT of complaints from other shooters about his antics. I enjoy his YouTube reviews and I am not attacking him as a person but rather pointing out his conduct DURING a match if he had not considered it before? I also saw him step beyond the firing line while filming, during a hot range, which would have had him expelled immediately from any NRA match. There is a time and place for close up filming and DURING a match isn't it ... IMHO.

On the other hand Stephen (Hard Air Magazine) a Pyramid employee and Michael were there filming as well and they waiting for the appropriate time to do their filming and were courteous to other shooters around them. Its hard enough shooting in a large match and maintaining one's concentration without the added distractions of someone's hind end in your face. I would merely ask Steve to consider putting himself in our place if the proverbial shoe was reversed?
Anyone on the firing line can call a cease fire. If you see a safety concern, call a CEASE FIRE ! This will get the issue corrected immediately.

This is the same at “STOP WORK AUTHORITY”. It is an authority given to all within several industries. If you see something unsafe, call it. All shuts down until the issue is resolved properly. There will absolutely be no retaliation toward anyone who employs STOP WORK AUTHORITY‼️

so then as long as it is air powered it would be legal as the rules are now ?
I'm not following you.

If the hundred yard events implemented 100 foot pound limit… It would solve a lot of issues going forward about people going crazy with power and pellet size.

And for all who may be interested; Nicolay is on record testing his exclusive 71g pellets at 960 fps which is 145 FPE.

Aren't most 30 cal shooters using the 66 grain AEA's by now? Those will be producing @ 125 FPE.

I don't really understand how limiting FPE to 100 helps. Hell, people have been shooting 100+ FPE in 50 yard BR for quite a while now. But then, I enjoy the direction that these longer range competitions have been pushing the market (mowa powah!).

If I recall correctly, Nicolay was putting up winning performances a couple years ago with .22. Certainly can't blame him for following the crowd into higher calibers, wights, and BCs.

I get the whole 'unobtainum' argument, and agree the rules should better address that. But, if they are commercially available in Russia (or any one country), then they are mass produced and commercially available.
