I ended up with a package of landscaping flags.

Cut off the flag and taped a 3×5 note card to the wire.

Using a set of circle templates I drew the Easy, Moderate, Hard, and Expert, Kill Zones on the note cards as applicable for each distance delineated on the AAFTA Troyer pdf.

Using a tape measure, I stuck the KZs in the ground at the applicable distances and proved that even sitting at a bench shooting off a bipod ........ I suck at field target.

You sure it’s not a gun v pellet issue?
How well does the gun group at 55 yards?
what kind of environmental issues were present?

Gun is fine. A 30 cal 45 grain AEA domed diabolo at 880 fps shoots relatively flat, straight, with very little wind issues out to 55 yards, but, tends to shave a lot off the the Expert KZs. I scored a knock down only when I didn't cut the edge of the KZ.

Mr. Rudy, if you take the HIGHEST Grand Prix legal Troyer KZ at each distance for each Easy, Moderate, Hard, Expert, ranking at that distance, you will have 166 KZs.

Have someone cut those KZs as metal disks, then hang them at the correct distance, make each distance a lane, and you would have a 46 lane - 166 target GRAND TROYER course.

I actually asked for both. All targets to be 1.5" to mimick the Crosman GP and a course with the mimium allowed KZ for each distance. Make it super hard and super easy. I want to see the difficulty. I shoot that stuff for practice anyway but wanted to see it as a real local match. We did it a few times in our off season of the hard stuff but not an entire course, just a few lanes.

We need to run this match in Nevada, four days, 368 shots! Woot!!! We'd have a mutiny on our hands, or nobody would show up.... LOL

Tell you what, a 36T course with no wind (what we can an east coast simulation) is not very difficult... Without wind you need to get closer to 50T for things to get spicy (positional shots only of course).

I drilled a 1" at 50 yards during the Baton Rouge Nationals, it was smack in the middle of my lane but was for the lane over (which is illegal and was ignored when brought up). It was scored as a miss but it sure stoked the confidence levels...

It is 166 targets and 46 lanes if layed out by yardage with the highest EASY, MODERATE, HARD, EXPERT Troyer for that yardage.

If layed out by KZ diameter you have 12 lanes and 42 targets with no more than 4 targets per lane. For each KZ diameter find the highest Troyer and yardage for each EASY, MODERATE, HARD, EXPERT rating applicable to that KZ diameter.

The "BY KZ" Layout you have fewer targets but each has to have its own stand.

The "BY YARDAGE" Layout you have more targets with up to four targets swinging from an "A Frame" style hanger at each yardage.

I am heading out to a Precision Benchrest night shoot, but when I get back l will calculate the Troyer for each Layout.
