N/A Dots, Peeps or Scopes ??

I like to shoot all three. It’s amazing to me when my eyes are behaving just how accurate one can be without any magnification. I probably have as many dots on airguns as scopes. Also some diopters. Just fun for me to mix it up. The dots amaze me the most. Pistol or rifle they are accurate, fun and easy to use. If I really want to check ”dead center” accuracy, a scope can’t be beaten. Shooting bullseye’s with a diopter is the ultimate challenge. I just set up these three Daisy’s with a dot, diopter and scope. They are fun and incredibly accurate. So, do you have favorite? Rags to riches, pictures encouraged.

the daisies come with diopters so let set those aside
now they are going to be a great little rifle with a scope because the rifle is not heavy and the would be adding much and in this case the Daisies are easy to shoulder
now a Reflex Sight is an interesting idea also light but with all the non C models loading can be a PITA so i think i would move it forward
the diopters that are put on these are, lets say, very cheap but if you still have the eyes 10m shooting will be fun
i think i agree that these are fun to shoot with whatever sight you use

My eyes are at mess but I still manage some good shots. My 853 is scoped at the moment, but a pain to load with the scope in the way.

One memorable shot I had was very uncomfortable due to my eyes. It was offhand with a .22 pistol with open sights at fifty yards. The target was the little white box that my ear plugs came in. The bright white box was set against a bright green evening sunlit backdrop.
After a hand ful of misses I put on my readers and could see the sights perfectly, but the target was just a white blob that I aimed at the center of. I hit a quarter inch from dead center. I still have that little box hanging on the wall over my desk at work. Lol
I wound up scoping that pistol because the sights were so uncomfortable for my old eyes. 👍

If this 853c repeater is as accurate as my scoped 753w then I will switch receivers/stocks. I’m not holding my breath because repeaters are inherently a bit less accurate. Maybe in this case it will be different because the Daisy clip is made of rubber and does not size the pellets going through it. Would make loading the scoped model easy.

For all of you that have never tried a dot. Believe me. You are missing a big piece of the enjoyment. I have several of these. Springers do not effect this dot. You will be amazed with the accuracy, quick acquisition, SIZE and enjoyment you will get from a dot. This one is for a dovetail mount. It’s so cheap you have nothing to loose.

I just got this NOS Daisy 853c repeater. Spend a few hours yesterday installing a sear adjustment screw, polishing contact points, resealing, cleaning and lubing. Trigger out of the box was 6.5 lbs, with creep. Now 14 oz with no creep. First outing this morning I quickly sighted in the dot. This is my first official 5 shot group using H&N Econ II 7.4 grain. Velocity was consistent at 520 fps. First shot the four silhouettes. Four in a row were a hit. Then this 5 shot group. Both at 40 yards. I’m liking this 853c.

Scopes only for me. Just can't get comfortable with peeps or open sights, and I like the extra accuracy that comes with a scope. That said, I hate heavy/bulky scopes. On most guns, I've found the best setup to be a Hawke Vantage 2-7x32ao.

I hate big heavy long scopes on many of my rifles. A lot of you like the Hawke Vantage because it kinda falls into the compact category, but my expereince with the cheaper end of the Hawke line was meh! I decided to see if I could find some decent quality compact scopes with lengths less than 10 inches and weight less than 20 oz. and came up with these. Please see my post with this evaluation.
