Crosman Announces New Regulated Marauder Field & Target Edition

The new Benjamin Marauder Field and Target Edition is the most versatile and accurate Marauder ever. The Marauder Field and Target Edition is built for both target shooting and hunting. It’s equipped with an externally adjustable regulator which allows the shooter to choose between unregulated full power shots for hunting, or regulated shots at lower velocity for target shooting.

Here's to hoping they're addressing the .22 barrel accuracy issues.

That's amazing. I've only had one lackluster experience with a .25 Marauder, but I've never stopped looking at them and the results that people get with them. I am exceptionally curious to see how these will work. One would think that if they're making a "Field and Target Edition", which sounds very similar to "Field Target", that they may be represented with pretty decent barrels. It's shocking, in a good way, to see a company put out less expensive guns with some of the higher end features. In this case, I'd say a very high end feature, since the only gun to date that I know of with an externally adjustable regulator is of course the Impact. Can't wait to hear more about these and especially reviews about the actual production pieces.

I wonder what the cost will be for the regulated version. For a little over $200, you can buy a Marmot Militia barrel in .22 cal and have 1/2" groups at 50 yards all day long. I can get 30 shots per fill at 30 ft lbs with an ES of 20 fps. I've decided it is not worth regulating my Marauder to get a little better consistency with less power.

I am not so sure they are going to make any significant changes in the barrels. By virtue of them adding a regulator, the pellet velocity will be more consistent. At a 100 yards, a 1.9 percent variation in speed makes for about a 1 inch difference in drop (at 25 cal, around 840fps average velocity, with 25.39 grain pellet). In other words, with a regulator, vertical accuracy will be improved, with no change in the barrel whatsoever. I like the fact the new regulator can be adjusted without taking the rifle apart (unlike other regulator upgrades which require a partial disassembly of the rifle to adjust them). Easy changing of regulator pressure seems like a great feature at first blush, but remember, it also may mean re-zeroing the scope when you change the pressure (velocity). At close distances, such as 25 yards, the change in velocity will have a less significant affect on point of impact.

Sounds like Crosman is aware of barrel quality issues and is working on resolving it with in-house expertise. If that's the case, along with a regulator, the new model could be a game changer.

Chip touching on the issue in another forum in October '16 before he left Crosman:
A word on barrel quality since that's always a hot topic. We make our own barrels. Over the past two years we've brought in-house the barrels for our high-end products. A couple of engineers started over from scratch. Looked at the twist rate. The grooves & lands. The crown. There's more airgun experience in this building than the rest of the industry combined and over the next few years you're going to see the results make their way across all the product lines. I've shot these new barrels and seeing a break barrel bang a target over and over at 80 yards is freaking impressive.

Ballistic,
If they raise the quality all of their barrels to be as good as the 25 Caliber Green Mountain barrel, there will be a lot of happy owners. If they exceed the quality, they will have ecstatic owners. I took my 25 Cal marauder to the range on Sunday. Those shooting powder burners couldn't believe the groups they were seeing at 50 and 100 yards with the Marauder. Several came up to take turns shooting (and shot equally well).

"Marksman3006"Hey.....anything to make these things cheaper is good in my book. Will be intresting to see what the price point ends up being.
I suspect the Field & Target Edition with regulator is going to be at least $100 more than a standard Gen2 MRod. I think a $100 premium is reasonable but anything more than that might be hard to swallow and starts competing with regulated entry level guns from the likes of FX like the Streamline... Just speculation at this point..

"l3uvn4ut"Does any know if the regulated pressure is externally adjustable or is it factory adjusted and you can just turn the regulation on a few off? I'm trying to decide whether to put the money instead towards a Lane regulator and LW or Marmot Militia barrel.

As shown in the link T3PRanch posted above Crosman dropped the regulated MRod. The are NOT going to offer them.
My GUESS is that that decision had something to do with Crosman being sold.
