Daystate Blackwolf owners discussion

I am not a BW owner yet, but I should recieve one next week.

Question: How high can I set the regulator?..
What barrel and caliber did you get? I don't have the answer to your question since most of the BW owners are trying to bring the speed down from factory. I got my BW with 23 inch barrel in .22. It came with 140 bar, red spring, and shooting 25 grain on minimum power wheel setting at 975 fps.

odd question? Because =
Depends on caliber and pellet choice or slug choice etc…
ideally you don’t want it any higher than necessary to achieve accuracy/speed That still provides speed adjustments with the power wheel.
my method:

install appropriate spring size/ color
set power wheel at minimum

for .177 start at 105 B and white spring
increase in 5 bar increments
when you get within 50 FPS start using the power wheel to make adjustments, speeds above 920 FPS may require increased reg pressure, but on a .177 you shouldn’t need over 125 - but I don’t use slugs. Your barrel length may also affect results/speed.

for .22 start at 110 - white spring?
for .25 start at 120 - spring?
for .30 start at 130 - spring?

check for desired with chronograph after any regulator adjustment

I have posted these pics before in other places / threads but they are good references. the springs are in order of power with white being the least for like .177 <20 fpe and and green being the max for like a .30 > crazy FPE
speed alone does not insure accuracy and you also want to conserve your air... why waste it and make unnecessary noise?

Thanks guys.

Its a .177cal with 28" barrel.

For me its not an exercise in air concumption...but again no need to waist air if it does no good.

I`d rather have 20 hard shots than 100 puny shots. I`Ll shoot only +20grain pills.

My Daystate Revere has 130bar as standard regulator pressure in the FAC version.

I have chronograph so natually I will do the testing.

20 "hard shots" doesn't equal 20 accurate shots... Daystate always tends to set their FAC regs too high when supplying airguns to the U.S. market. I.M.O. this is because we are more obsessed with power than accuracy.

Check with AoA, but I'm pretty sure all the 28" barrels currently available have a slug twist rate.

Which version of the Daystate BlackWolf ? 😃🎯🐺

How is the 28” barrel working for you?
I don’t have the 28”
to date I just helped someone setup a .177 with the 17” barrel for field target but after watching the exceptional performance of his Blackwolf, I wouldnt mind owning one in .25 for EFT.

Sorry wrong person

Sorry I meant this for rigbymauser, back to the barrels I had a 22 28” barrel I was having trouble with and sent it back for a 23”
Then I talked to AOA they have no idea when barrels are going to be available.
I had talked to a guy that said that people are sending the black wolf back because the 28” barrels are not group very well, I read that the ghost is the same platform, I am trying to get info on this so that when they do come available I would know what to order. My biggest question is should I order 23” or 28” I don’t think that there is enough information out there on the 28” barrel.
I have a RW that I can swap barrels that are 23”
I have the RW setup in all calibers and shooting very well

The barrels are not the same! Of course im shooting from the hip, but if the ghost or Redwolf barrels were the same as the Blackwolf - inventory would not be a issue

Lets see. I have high expectations. When buying premium I want premium results if I do my part.

I`ve been beating around the bushes for a HP .177cal for some years. Which one...which one?.. The RW with Heliboard was my choice but I was reluctant in regards to electronics. But That I was willing to overlook. Then came the Blackwolf and then came the FX Leopard too. I wanted the BW with just 17" if it could shoot slugs. Some say they can. I could be tempted to buy an extra 28" slugbarrel and shorted it to 17" from chamber end. 28" barrel is long and I might get used to it and leave it with that.

With the power that this gun can make, having to buy a 28" long barrel to shoot slugs (making the gun a pool cue) is ridiculous. There should be at least a 23" slug barrel, and maybe even a 17 - 20" slug barrel.

Get a ghost with a 28” 177 barrel shoots great

You would probably have a difficult time getting a slug barrel that has been shortened to a 17” barrel to shoot a slug fast enough to achieve accuracy with slugs…. But if money isn’t a factor…. Go for it and let us know what happens.
