Benjamin Kratos regulator?

+1 to that, O'Doyle. I feel the same, but the kook kidz will still insist otherwise. I suggested the Kral reg and bottle as a drop in fix for him.

Shoot it first. My unmodified Nemesis has most excellent shot string w/o regulation. Not everyone will get such results, but it is possible.

100 shot string. es 16 sd 3

60 shot plateau es 8 sd 1

If you don't know about es and sd, you need to study a bit before you chase perfection with a regulator. You cannot get there if you don't know where you are starting from.

Jim and odoyal, intresting assumptions. For clarity, let me explain. I want to drop the weigh to 7ish lbs, ok? Ya with me so far? So I have a moderator I built. (one of several I have built), it weighs 77grs. I'll remove the shroud and put on the can. A cf 500cc bottle weighs 21oz, so another 13oz reduction in weight. That might be enough benefit, (weight), but fill is still limited to 3000psi, no increase in shot count. Ergo, the reg allows 300bar fill, hence more shots. I plan to use a Lane reg. So, my question wasn't should I do a reg; it was asking if you had done it, (you haven't) and "what if any" modifications were needed. Hope that clears it up fo you. Cheers.

The link provided is a drop in moderator regulator built for guns from that very same manufacturer. Quickly answers the issue. When you want higher quality answers, ask higher definition questions.

There is no argument here. You asked, and were given the courtesy of an answer. I stand by the position that a regulator is not a good investment, yet I answered the question in good faith, and as it was asked.

Good luck. Don't shoot your eye out.

Youre pretty funny. Not in a bad way. I do appreciate the input, it just wasn't Germaine. The Kratos has baffle cones and spring from factory. With the shroud removed and baffles set aside, the can will yield almost the same oal. A factory Kratos doesn't really need a moderator added as the shroud- baffle system Benjamin uses is pretty low in the noise department.

Have you put a bottle reg on a Kratos. If so, what if any modifications are needed? That is about as specific as a question can be. Cheers

Vetmx and stevek, thanks. I'm wondering if the Kratos stock will need to be modified for access to the gauge and/or the fill nipple. The plenum volume is unknown, but I will be happy to get her to 50fpe. A reg is only intresting because of the 300bar fill it will allow, upping the shot count. I'll have the gun in a few days, so I'll be better able to see what is needed as far as forend modifications. It may turn out to be simple or a no-go. If a reg is doable great; if not, I can live without it as it seems to have a very good valve. Thanks for the response.

The mods to the stock is the least of your concerns. Your gun is going to come with 3 things that are out of whack when it comes to a regulator. Your porting, hammer weight and hammer spring are all designed to operate over a broad psi range. Your porting will be too small, hammer and it’s spring are too heavy. They can all be fixed as I did but can you do it. The difference is amazing but it’s not as simple as slap in a reg and live happily ever after.

Vetmx, I sent you a pm, but I am not sure if the porting, hammer weight and hammer spring are upgrades for power increase or for consistency. I'm intrested in the physics of the firing cycle with and without the reg. My logic leads me to think the gun shoots great at 3000psi. The reg can control output, which for example could be 3000psi. Why wouldn't the gun preform the same? When I set up my unregulated AF Condor with an Altaros reg it shot the same, just more shots and tighter groups. In the case of the Kratos, l'm not trying to max power the gun, 50fpe is plenty for me. So do you believe I will need the 3 changes for what I would like? Thanks for your intrest and input. Bill.

You will need to deliberately void your 5 year warranty to make it work in harmony with a regulator.

It's a gun that doesn't need a regulator to begin with.

Thammer can confirm this and he is the expert who must be grinning and shaking his head reading this one.

I wouldn't fill past 200bar no matter what.

You probably won't see any accuracy gains by adding a regulator and doing all the work to void your 5 year warranty.

It is like introducing a potential cancer that May allow you to unintentionally miss your first few shots Sooner or later at any given unexpected least opportune moment unless you always be mindful to leave the gun stored right at the set regulator pressure.

I wouldn't do it unless the gun shot that terrible it actually needs a regulator and wasn't under warranty.

He and I spoke on the phone. I also felt strongly about giving the gun a chance before turning it into a project. The fact that it’s a .25 concerned me about regulating it if he wants to shoot heavy pellets. I have no doubt that even the unregulated gun needs improvements to get the most out of it and that’s where Troy comes in. I buy an unregulated gun every year or so and try to love it but I can’t. But that’s just me. If I have a regulated gun that won’t hit where it’s supposed to after sitting for a couple weeks with the first shot, I fix it or sell it.
