Skout Everything Skout EVO and Epoch

My Epoch seems to have taken a dive since I had the odd puff of air from the HP reg when adjusting, the power is definitely down a bit, and it seems more inconstant than before, I also had a go with adjusting the LP reg pressure which on the UK sub 12 guns is not adjustable, but I made an insert a while ago and tried winding the adjuster up and found it made little difference to the shots or the pressure in fact the pressure seemed to reduce slightly, going to have another look at the HP reg to see if there is anything that stands out like damaged O rings, but as a friend is going to the states soon I may ask him to grab me some spares, the next thing I may try is to open the poppet valve aperture as Motorhead has done and see if this has any positive effects.:devilish::geek:

@Tricky-Dicky I would put money on it being an o-ring issue. I wouldn't make any modifications until that's sorted.
So would I, however having already looked and not found anything IE o ring damage and I have already replaced some of the O rings with harder items I am not sure just what the cause is, I will be taking another look, but it's an odd one.

Hello to eveyone.
I finally hit the range today and tried many different combinations during tuning.
I will need alot of help because all i got today was very tight groups and then flyers out of nowhere in all configurations (with very little wind , but high temps).
I promised photos of my rig and here you are , for anyone who likes Skouts (sorry about the quality).
I was using JTS 22.07gr at 970 to 985 fps 1460 HP 147 LP with the air stripper, Whisper mod and whisper mod with the insert(which by the way is the quietest).
Groups varied from 1/2 inch at 50 meters/55 yards to 2 inches.
I have indexed the barrel and my dwell is 24.
Let me know what you think and have a great shooting day.

Hi.. sorry i was busy building a benchrest table for the range.
I have the Lothar Walther barrel in .22
I am using ballistol general oil and patches.
I have noticed shiny silver streak on the patches when i clean the barrel.
While using the JTS, get into a barrel cleaning routine for maintaining accuracy. Keep track of how many shots you have taken until you have noticed a change in your shot placement. Pull through patches work well, but sometimes, a good scrub with a brass brass is better.

Thank you... i will do that because i have been putting alot of pellets through it in the last 2 days.
I also have robla barrel cleaner, should i run it with patches and then maybe put a brush through.
I dont wont to accedently damage the barrel.

i understand your concern.
A brass brush will not harm your barrel.
There are nylon brushes, while they can be effective, but they tend to wear out much faster

So with a lothar Walter barrel I would try bumping your speed down to around 810 to 815.
With my Lothar walther barrel that seems to be the sweet spot. I have found so far.
Also, you might try turning your dwell down a whole bunch.
I found that with a higher dwell, I noticed a slightly increased point of impact shift.

Yeah, since it’s a steel barrel, you’re not gonna hurt it with a brass brush. Now, if it’s the stock scout barrel, which is aluminum with a Teflon coating definitely do not use any brushes in it.

Thanks for the info, i will clean the barrel thoroughly tomorrow and try again.
Is'nt 810-815 too low for JTS .22 22.07gr ??
I will certainly try it though.

Did you monitor your shots with a chrono? also, did you say you used both the STD stripper and the whisper insert with your printed baffle tube, and did you try with both completely removed?
Hi
Yes i did monitor my shots with a chrono and the flyers did not have spikes or drops in fps.
I tried all the combinations with the whisper mod and air stripper. funny enough the air stripper produced the smallest groups but also had fluctuations as did the whisper mod with and without the tube(there i was worried that it might be clipping, but it's not the case).
I did not try with nothing on.
The whisper with the tube in it, is so quite that i can hear the guns moving parts working!!
I remember that you had achieved something similar.

I just tried some Jts 45 grain pellets in my Skout epoch compact 30 cal. And found them to be much more accurate than the 44.75 jsb pellets I have been using. My dwell is at 23. FPS is 885.
Not sure what you are shooting, just a thought switching may help.

Well, I got to do my first match today after sealing up the hole in the breach block.
Looking fairly promising that I’d like to tighten up my extreme spread a bit more. It’s not a consistent up or down if I were to graph it it’s more of a back-and-forth kind of pattern.
I shot three matches and here’s the results I was getting.
