Air Venturi What might this mean - if anything?

Also, the graph at the beginning of the thread was using the same reg set point and the same hammer spring adjustment as the first test today at a 250 bar fill pressure. At 300 bar fill, I was seeing 940 FPS. At the 250 bar setting, the average was 895. Where did the extra. 45 FPS go? Overall...

Air Venturi What might this mean - if anything?

Mercado, Agreed on the cheapo pellets probably giving me issues. I have a few AEA 25 grain (probably enough for a couple of runs. I'll try those. Here are a couple of shots of the AEA 25's at 50 yards yesterday. % shot groups. I was having rest issues so I also got a bunch of extremely poor...

Air Venturi What might this mean - if anything?

I started off using Carl's advice with the lower fill setting. of 250B. The reg pressure was like it was at around 155B. Hammer spring as it was with 250B fill. Little bump on the hammer spring by 1/8 of a turn in. Starting yo look better I though. Another 1/8 turn in on the spring for a 1/4...

Air Venturi What might this mean - if anything?

I did a tremendous amount of testing today using the tips given here and will post results later. In the meantime, is there a minimum pressure recommended the the Avenge X regulator? That is, is there a pressure below which the regulator will perform poorly or not at all? Tony

Air Venturi What might this mean - if anything?

Carl, Also a good thing to try. Since this rifle will basically be a 25 yard backyard plinker/target shooter, the ultimate shot count on a fill doesn’t much matter to me as long as it gets more than, say, ten. I could see where lowering the fill pressure would help to even out the regulator...

Nervous, OK! That makes sense. I’ll give that a try tomorrow and rerun the test. Good news on the regulator then. I can put that aside. Tony

Air Venturi What might this mean - if anything?

I had my Avenge X 25 out today for some testing at 50 yards. That turned out to be one of those some good; some bad stories. When I got back home, I filled the gun up and hooked up the chrony. I was using my Apolo cheap 25 grain pellets. I wanted to see just how the regulator was performing...

    N/A PCP Air Usage

Thammer, Thanks! That rear stock is an Ace/dDoublestar that I’ve had on different builds for years. The length is perfect for me. I can’t handle the rattling around on the M4 type adjustable stocks. The two I have are both screwed down tight where I need them. I made the rear bag rider. The...

    N/A PCP Air Usage

Nervous, If the rifle is in a happy space, then so am I! And I had calculated the same number. I probably should chrony the shots tomorrow to see just how things stack up with the AUE pellets. I have one of the Nate chrony units and at 25 yards, the addition of the chrony does not affect POI...

    N/A PCP Air Usage

Charlie, Thanks!! I'll scope them out. Right now I shoot 22 RFBR but the ammo thing has gotten kind of ridiculous in terms of both cost and availability. Plus the range that I was shooting at decided to drop the ARA discipline so I have nowhere else here to go in Pittsburgh, PA to shoot that...

    N/A PCP Air Usage

I should also say that this shot string was done with some Apolo 25 grain pellets that I bought on Amazon for $8/200. They do seem OK for just general plinking around. I had some good groups and some not so good. I'd be willing to bet that the SD would tighten up a little bit with better...

    N/A PCP Air Usage

thammer, OK! Sounds good. At 25 yards the AEA pellets were noticeably better than the JSB 25.4 grain pellets. I have a crummy shooting position at home so now I have the gun rigged up on my RFBR one piece rest to see how it will do. I'll bring along my little CS GX2 compressor to keep things...

    N/A PCP Air Usage

This would be considered the efficiency of the gun, I assume. My Avenge X 25 cal will get 50 good shots with a 25 grain pellet. Over those 50 shots the pressure will go from 300 to 150 bar for a 3 bar/shot air usage. Does sound about right? I’m sure that all guns are different with different...

    Air Venturi Leaking Foster fitting

The air tube is way easy to get off. Once degassed, the main tube unscrews by hand easily. Once the tube is off, the front end needs a wrench for about 4 turns then it unscrews by hand. However, nothing has to be removed to get at the Foster fitting. It basically unscrews by had after degassing...

    Air Venturi Leaking Foster fitting

I thought I had the leak taken care of in my Avenge X. I fixed something with the reg gauge because it slowed way, way down. Today I found the leak out of the Foster fitting. It looks like getting the main tube off the gun is not vey complicated. Has anybody done this and how tight are things...
