FX DRS Tactical - My first Post

I've ordered a good amount of light projectiles. the Benjamin 14.3 single die, jumbo exact, Atomic/Hades. Im buying the DRS pro base and dropping into the tactical furniture. The DRS/Dynamic system is really a step up for FX. Great system.

I was an early adopter of the DRS Tactical, so mine lacks the newer external adjustment features. I’m still learning PCP tuning - still seems like a bit of a dark art - so I’m weighing whether to sell and move to a rifle with factory adjustments or to retrofit my Tactical with the updated handguard, back block, and hammer-adjustment wheel so I can start experimenting with settings myself. I really don’t want to have to take the rifle apart every time I want to change or refine a setting.

you can make small adjustments with a ball end allen wrench through the foreend bottom

I am following your posting with interest...I am also in South Africa and have just ordered an FX DRS Tactical 500mm with Element Immersive scope [14x50]

I recently returned from living in Italy and after 12 years since leaving South Africa I am finally getting back into airguns.

I was the moderator for the SA Airgun forum for many years and also sold Steyr \ Edgun and other brands...before emigrating to Italy in 2011 and selling my huge collection of custom airrifles.

will pm you after my 10 day trial period is over:)

Hi @guidodg thank you for reaching out. Welcome back to SA, where are you based, it would be great to catch up if you're around Gauteng or Pretoria. I remember the SA Airgun forum, in fact was registered on it too.... You're going to love the DRS tactical.... I just upgraded my standard HP plenum to the SHP plenum and did a quick speed-tune for slugs yesterday, shooting 23gr Javelin's at 930fps, 21gr Javelin's at 950fps and ZAN 20gr slugs around 960fps. In the next few days, I'll be fine tuning to see which slugs gives me the best and most consistent spreads and accuracy and I'll be sure to post an update here on this thread.

Thanks for the reply...am based in Greyton WC [am an avid mountain and gravel cyclist]

Should be receiving the DRS Tactical 500mm this week...plus Immersive 14x50 , Yokozuna silencer, FX Chrony, 12V compressor and a selection of pellets and light slugs [the 500mm not really a slug shooter I believe although the Matt Dubber video claimed otherwise]

What happened to the local airgun forum and are there any new ones? I tried a search but found zilch

Anyways nice to chat and will be reporting on this thread once I get up and shooting:)

Aaahhh, okay, I also used to be somewhat of a MTB'er myself, until my daughter outgrew her MTB and just took over my Cannondale Scalpel...lol. Greyton looks beautiful......

There's no local airgun forum that I'm aware of, however, there is a group called Air Rifle Unlimited (https://www.airrifle-unlimited.com/), (also on whatsapp) and run by SA Air rifles (Ian). They regularly host benchrest competitions and get togethers around the country...

I'll be joining an airgun benchrest club here in Centurion, hosted by a couple of ex military guys at the old military shooting range opposite Voortrekker Monument. I'm more into hunting, but getting competitive every now and again with a gun I know is capable, could just bring another level of excitement.

You'll note that I have sent you a private message on here as well, with contact details should you want to reach out...
